It didn't really have much flavor to it, and it was lacking flavor/spice. I wish this Paella had some sort of sauce over it to add in a kick of flavor. This place was also a little over priced and kind of upscale. My Paella, sparking water, and creme brûlée was a grand total of $38, and I didn't even enjoy the taste of the Paella. The aesthetic of the place was beach/marina themed. This place had ok customer service, it was fake and surface level kindness. Our server was a wanna be rapper.

They kindly let us in Sunday at 1 pm without a reservation, to a crowded restaurant. We ordered three orders of fish and seafood paella, and after a half hour wait received a large iron pan, with portions plated for us by the friendly staff. Unfortunately there was no crispy rice bottom crust whatsoever, and the amount of actual seafood came to two shrimp and two mussels a person, plus small chunks of chopped up cuttlefish mixed into the rice. The rice itself was well cooked in a richly flavored sauce, but not much garlic. Bottom line, the dish was adequate but left us with little protein and a lot of rice.

Found this place from a referral from a local photographer in Barcelona. It's a beautiful…read morerestaurant hidden in the corner next to the sea with a view of the sea (though the sea is virtually pitch black if you come at night albeit with nice fires at the balcony). Indeed, it felt as if we were the only non-Spanish speaking party at the restaurant. It was filled with local families and couples. The inside is absolutely gorgeous with an open view of the professional kitchen and staff running around. The service was excellent as well. As for the food, the seafood dishes are presented in a great way that brings out the natural flavors of the fish if that's what you like. Most of the dishes don't have much seasoning/salt, which we greatly enjoyed. The Galician-style octopus (Pulpo) was really unique and had a nice, fatty texture that reminded me of pork tongue/ear. As a referral for a great paella restaurant, Barceloneta unfortunately lost its 5-star for me because the paella was a minor letdown. While the rice and seafood were cooked well in texture, the flavor was overly salty contrary to the other dishes we had. It tasted like too much XO seafood sauce was poured into the rice which made it incredibly salty and masking of the natural seafood flavors (you can tell just by looking at the dish). Overall, I would come back for the seafood and beautiful interior of Barceloneta. While I wouldn't come here specifically for the paella, it was still enjoyable and a lot of the other seafood dishes were all memorably delicious.

I loved them all, particularly the manchego which they garnished with pecans and raisins. For my entree, I got the paella senorito. It was delicious and I loved how they cooked the rice. For dessert, my wife and I shared a crema catalana. They had burnt the sugar well and the ratio of sugar to the cream underneath was perfect. For drinks, I got an aperol spritz and a vermouth negro. I was a huge fan of both. Portion sizes were pretty generous and the service was quick and attentive. Great place to check out if you're in the Gothic quarter!
