Ordered: #18 - Chelo Kabab-e Vaziri (Koobideh & Joje) (259 SEK): one grilled marinated minced lamb skewer & one grilled Zaffran marinated chicken skewer served with Zaffran rice Pepsi Max (29 SEK) Aya's take: I was in the mood for something that tasted good, mild in flavor, and would keep me full for a while. I'm a big fan of Persian food so I figured this can't disappoint. Service was super quick which was great since I was on a time crunch. The worker was also super kind and friendly. Now onto the food. The chicken skewer was not seasoned well and could have been cooked for another 1-2 minutes. You can tell it was coated with tons of yogurt and saffron making it tender and juicy but it lacked seasoning. The lamb skewer was buttery, juicy, and tender. That one was cooked well. I thought it was a bit weird they served the rice separate. I usually like when the juices from the cooked skewers seep into the rice adding more flavor. The tzaztziki sauce added a fresh layer to the meal too. Overall, it was pretty average considering other Persian restaurants I've dined in but for Sweden, I guess it's decent. i got into Gothenburg, Sweden at 6pm checked into The Radisson Blu and was told if I wanted hot food for dinner, to go outside to find one. Using Yelp I found this quaint Persian restaurant just around the corner. I ordered the lamb with zaffran (saffron) rice and the shirazi salad. Perfect dinner! read more

Great Persian food and helpful staff. First I had the mixed starter with 5 dishes- all were good except the pickled veggies, they tasted too much vinegar. The aubergine dish was incredible , it mixed very well with the bread and yogurt/garlic mix. For main dish I had the lamb together with rice , really tasty and the servers kept giving suggestions and tips how to combine different flavours. I would definitely recommend the place - we didn't have to wait long so if you are not too stressed before your train leaves , this place is clearly an option. Enjoy! read more

Would absolutely recommend this place! While staying in Göteborg I got a craving for Persian food, and I was so happy to see that there was a Persian restaurant close to the space I was working from. The staff was super welcoming when I got there, and I had #2: the Khoresh Bademjaan. I can't speak to the quality of the meat since I didn't have it at all, but the Khoresh Bademjaan was really yummy and it definitely reminded me of home. I was also really impressed with the rice -- a lot of Persian restaurants in the states have such hard, oily rice, but their rice was fluffy and really good! The self-service salad area is great too, and the maast/yogurt side served with the food was very refreshing. 10/10 experience, really enjoyed the food, service, and interior, and would definitely come back! read more

This was the worst Iranian food I have ever had in my life. We ordered Kubideh and Barg kebab. The meat was so tough and it didn't even taste like grilled meat, it was like they had water boiled the lamb meat. The rice was so greasy and wet. It was a Saturday evening and the restaurant seemed to be fully booked. The owner tried her best to make us a place to seat (thank you) but the restaurant is so small so it's better to reduce the number of the tables and chairs and of course the clients. It's also not child friendly( no place to put the high chair). Sorry Zaffran, but I hope this review can help you improve. read more

This restaurant is undoubtedly one of the best Persian restaurants I have eaten at in Gothenburg. It was introduced to me by a a friend of mine. It's right in the heart of Gothenburg, so it's easy to get to. It's right across from the central train station and Drottningstorget. The restaurant itself is quaint, small and cosy and the service was pretty good. We had to wait a bit to be seated as we were a fairly large group (8 persons), but as soon as tables emptied out, they were quick to fix us a table. Try the lamb koobideh, it's succulent and tasty! They were also accommodating to a friend of mine who did not eat yogurt and were happy to change it to another sauce. I would definitely come back to try some of the other dishes! read more

After a long drive from Oslo to Gothenburg my friends and I were starving, so after a quick stop at the hotel we started wandering around and ended up at Zaffran. The menu is not particularly creative, but the food is good. Not the best kebab I have had, but non the less good. My chicken kebab with naan was well prepared and tasteful. Personally we felt a little neglected at Zaffran. We do realize we came in at an odd time in between lunch and dinner, but given that there was no other guests at the restaurant we did expect better service. No one asked us how the food was or if we wanted water. No one came to take our plates when we finished the food, and we had to walk up to the registrar to ask for the check. The food and service was excellent. Nice and tender meats, perfectly cooked rice and a wonderful youghurt mix. After rhe meal we were curious about the milk like drink in the bar and we got our first taste of aynan (?). Youghurt, mint, salt and some spices, it was a really different experience.
