Borpince came as a recommendation from my cyclist friend, (I am not sure I was personally so…read moreambitious enough to try a Hungarian restaurant.) Not far from the Centrum rotunda, this place can be missed easily. A narrow flight of steps leads to this underground restaurant. The place inside has the feeling of beautiful cellar in the medieval days, with brick walls, and candles and archways. The courteous waitress led me and my friend to a table. We soon noticed the specialty of the place in the ambiance. Bottles of wines lined neatly against the wall, the captivating Hungarian music to name a few. We couldn't help but notice the nicely laid out table with glasses and cutlery all set for a elaborate fine-dining experience. The initial look on the prices also strengthened our belief. (there was 1 dish which I think served 3 which was 82 PLN!! - I never had seen a single dish that was so expensive in Warsaw. ) We would have probably walked away had the waiter not served the complementary bread with two sauces - Sambal Olek (spicy red chilli and lime sauce) and the lard (pork paste). In isolation each of the sauces were great, and in combination it was unstoppable. We had to (shamelessly) ask for the second serving. For the main course with Chicken, my choices were limited (there were a few Vegetarian dishes as well and an endless list of meat ones). I asked for a Chicken breast fillet, served with a tarhonya noodel-spinach salad. (extremely complicated Hungarian name). My friend went for a pork dish with potatoes, bell peppers and tomatoes in a red gravy. For beverages, I asked for an English tea and my friend went for beer. My food was exquisite! Never ever had I tasted this form of noodles, it was in the shape of rice but was so soft that it would rarely have to use your teeth - it would rather melt away. The chicken was deliciously boiled with the right amount of seasoning. The pork dish was lauded by my friend as well. Over food, music beer, time slipped past quickly. The overall bill was very reasonable(120 pln including tips) given the first impression that we had. (non-veg main courses ~35-45 pln and vegetarian ones around 25-35pln, beverages were 9pln). Overall got a sense of a good authentic Hungarian experience! Worth a return.

As a Hungarian national I have to say it is a very authentic Hungarian restaurant. Food, menu,…read moreambiance, music etc. all very good quality! Also they have a very large selection of Hungarian wines, although done if them are a bit pricy, but quality costs money! :)

Our colleagues, translator and guide, was from Poland, but no Warsaw. So we happen upon Zapiecek, and we're not disappointed. It was an almost 11pm when we decided it was time to find some food on this work trip and first time to Poland. So I wanted something of local taste. So my colleague suggested the pierogi. Now forgive me for not remembering the fillings, or the sauce, but the memories of just enjoying the flavors is still with me that I tried to find similar taste here in the States and have not found a place yet. From what I remember the staff were friendly and the setting was quiet and comfortable. So I do have fond memories of dining at Zapiecek, and would go again. So enjoy...

First time having authentic fried pierogis - wow! I highly recommend ordering the 9 piece assortment of pierogis or dumplings. I enjoyed their version of beef stew (great for dipping the side of bread!). Affordable prices, very friendly and fast service. I loved the house red wine, it paired great with our meal. Walking distance to many popular and fun bars, lounges, restaurants, and more. A gem that we stumbled upon - highly recommend if you are in Warsaw!
