The chips are served nice and warm and have a light crunch to them, not overly heavy. Their salsa is just addictive and when you pair it with their queso, it's ridiculous. I ordered the chicken supreme dish I think is what it was called. Chicken breast flattened and nicely grilled, topped with mushrooms and onions and cheese. Serve with rice and beans, I couldn't finish at all, but I surely wanted to. The service was very friendly and attentive, mostly comfortable atmosphere. Loud patrons, a couple boot away, put a damp around things, but that's not really the fault of the restaurant, just inconsiderate, loud patrons. The only issue I have, is when we walked in the place just kind of smelled funky. They had a couple of candles lit, I think to mask the odor. And I really can't say what it was, but it was across between maybe garbage and trash smell. Aside from the unpleasant smell when you walk in, the food and service was on point. I would absolutely come back here for takeout.

It isn't the end of the world, but it hurts on bare legs and could be an infection control issues if moisture gets in the cushions. They should replace those that are damaged. We were immediately served our beer and wine choices along with hot crisp tortilla chips with homemade salsa. It was so good. My hubby had taco salad with ground beef and enjoyed it very much. I had the Carne Asada. I was a bit skeptical at first, but is arrived on a steaming skillet and was seasoned to perfection. It was actually very tender. It came with plenty of sides. The salad was the best part. It was crisp with fresh limes and cilantro. This is good solid Mexican food. It will quench that craving.

You can tell they're putting a lot of love into getting things up and running. I had the birria tacos and they were great--just didn't have much meat in them. My boyfriend got the burrito, which was grilled more like a wrap than a traditional saucy burrito. It was $15 and didn't come with any sides like rice or beans, which felt a bit pricey. That said, we'll definitely be back! I know they're still working on their menu, and I'm excited to see how they grow.

Let's be fair to Aztecas: I may not have been the ideal customer when I walked through the door…read more I was just getting over a stomach bug, which means my digestive system and I were still negotiating the terms of our relationship. So when I chose a Mexican restaurant for dinner, that may not have been my most strategically brilliant decision. That said, what I did have was quite good. Actually, better than I expected based on the restaurant's overall rating. Aztecas has a nice environment, the staff was friendly, and the food I tried was solid. I just wasn't exactly operating at 100 percent, so I'm willing to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that I might have enjoyed the experience even more under better circumstances. You know it's a rough week when your stomach is the toughest restaurant critic at the table. Still, even with my questionable timing, Aztecas delivered a good meal in a pleasant setting with friendly service. Four stars. I think this place is better than its overall rating suggests, and I'd be willing to come back when my stomach and I are once again on speaking terms.
