It's a really ideal spot for kids for…read moreso many reasons - beautiful sites close to the water and general store; walking distance to the lake where they have single and double kayak and I think stand-up paddleboard rentals; and a public "beach" at Lake Cushman with seating, picnic tables, tons of shade. The campsite is nicely developed with clean bathrooms and roomy sites. It's a little more per night that your standard state or national park, but site amenities and property location more than make up for that. Outside of the amenities at Skokomish Park, the staffers there are all friendly and over the top helpful. In two days we interacted with multiple staffers and all were beyond helpful and nice, including (1) my daughter dropping her hot chocolate after buying it at the general store and staff insisting she replace it for free and (2) kayak staff being so nice and accommodating despite us obviously being their very last rental of the day (and probably standing between them and the end of the workday). However, the most over the top service we got was when our truck battery died and we went up to the general store to get cell service to call for a tow; when staff heard the issue, they insisted on jumping our truck that day, and when it died again overnight, they again insisted on jumping it rather than us calling AAA. The young couple that helped both times even refused a cash tip, saying they couldn't take it and were happy to help, and made us feel like it was sincerely no big deal for them to assist. Lake Cushman is beautiful and this property was the perfect way to experience it. Highly recommend!

But...it is very expensive to camp with what you get (almost $300 for 3 nites). Our campsite was VERY narrow; no privacy. It was not peaceful since they cram so many sites together and no sound barriers. The far back tent sites may be better for privacy. The single bathroom building in the middle of the loop is OLD. The toilet stalls are so small! I could barely squeeze in and out by standing beside the toilet (yuk!). The worst part is there is only ONE shower stall for all the female campers. AND you need quarters! For as much as we paid for camping, that is ridiculous. We won't camp there again. $20 for the day use area is a much better value.

The park has many permanent residents, spots for long-term stays like ours, and several pull-thrus for overnighters. Not easy to get a reservation but well worth it if you can. Price is very reasonable. The park is kept very clean, laundry facilities are wonderful and not too expensive ($1.25 per load washer and dryer), and there is a sweet little stream running through the park sided by a large grassy area that was wonderful for our dog to run and play. No one objected to him being off leash there, but he comes when he's called, so I'm not sure how people would react to a dog that isn't under control. There were some ducks in the stream and a little bridge that crosses it. We felt very safe here and had quiet neighbors. There was noise from Trosper Road, but not more than the usual two-lane road, and certainly better than freeway noise would be in some of the other parks. Fred Meyer, UPS/fax store, Albertson's, Wal-Mart, and Costco nearby, also gas and coffee shops and other smaller stores. We would love to have found a house in this area. Would definitely recommend this place for short- or long-term stays.

Microwave, fridge & freezer in the room. 6. Temperature perfect. 7. Coat rack on the wall, as you come in. 8. Quiet. Hubby can't hear me talking when I'm inside, unless I yell! 9. Love the floors! Negatives: 1. Faucet handles needs upgrading. 2. No stopper on the sink. I use a Kleenex, to prevent anything small falling in the pipes. 3. The room is not so bright. I have to turn on the TV for additional lights, so I can see what I'm doing. I cut & sew! I need ceiling lights! 4. No EWTN TV. 5. The bathroom and the bed is not ADA Compliance. I have bursitis, so it's difficult for me to climb up the California Bed. We have that at home, but I get up on a step stool, to get in/out of bed. The tub is hard to get out, specially if it's slippery.

We were in room 25, with a gorgeous view of the Sound. We had two queens (haha, so very appropriate...!). The mattresses seemed new and were comfortable. The room was clean, the sheets fresh, the kitchen area clean and stocked with Keurig cups (well, that's a bit of a downer, but not their fault). The room was very nicely decorated with all kinds of quirky prints and hangings, making the room cheerful and fun. The TV was quite large (55" ?). The halls and other common areas were clean and well decorated, again cheerful and fun. The grounds include a parking area for RV's which was well organized, neat and tidy, with a couple green areas and some cabins on the North side, but that wasn't the main event... ! They have a very pretty little stream that even had a few flowers when we visited and which empties into the sound, where the estuarial mix of fresh and salt waters attracts birds (and fish? need to find out!). They have a small pebble beach with steps leading down where they said it is fine to launch a kayak or two! To the South there is a power plant outlet! My excitement might puzzle those of you who don't fish in Winter, but not only is it deep and fast running, but may be warm enough to attract fish. It, like everything else we saw about the waters, appeared clean and free of trash, as one might typically see nearby RV camping. And..., There are some lovely businesses nearby at HoodCanal. We had coffee there at a very nice little shop (HoodCanal Coffee, who'd have thunk it?) and then ventured next door to the little wine shop, which was FULL of curios, art, and so many lovely little things. The proprietress was wonderfully chatty and really helped fill us in on the area. And that leads us to the people... ! The nice lady running the hotel was out of the office (pro tip: there is a call button to the right of the office door that pages her, so just tap that), but popped up quickly. She was very friendly and, when we ran out of coffee creamer, which we mentioned in passing in the hall, she told me not to bother coming down the stairs to the office and that she would bring it right up, which she did. She also had more information on the local area that was very helpful. We were very pleasantly surprised and will certainly be back... with kayak(s)!

Waking up every morning to a beautiful beach and waterfront. There was a private picnic table right outside our door. They also offer rooms without a view for a more economical stay or glamping in yurt like accommodations. There's a bbq area and fire pit where we enjoyed live music on Saturday night. Our days were filled with hiking and kayak adventures! The resort offers clamming and crabbing (permits might apply). They even had a soda machine! There are several restaurants to choose from within 5 miles. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable about the area and gave recommendations on places to see. There was a bit of noise from traffic as we were close to the main road. But it always died down around 10 pm and didn't start up till late morning. The room we had was small but there were end tables with sufficient outlets, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, a few cups and dishes along with everything needed for a cup of coffee in the morning. I had forgotten to bring my tea and was a bit disappointed that there were no tea bags in the room. But there was a grocery store not far down the road.. I could have used a few more hooks in the bathroom to hang wet towels or clothes. But other than that, it was an awesome stay!
