She brought everything quickly and has great suggestions. My husband doesn't drink, and she brought him his milk in a champagne flute so he could feel included! Honestly the best service I've had this year! The desserts are all DELICIOUS! I had the crab cake eggs Benedict which was great. The potatoes were killer!! Could not recommend more. Let's start with the positives: great view, nice decor, good cocktails, and delicious pillowy after-dinner butter mints. The not-so great? $40-something halibut that was dried out and overly salty. Seriously some of the worst-prepared fish I have had. Essentially they'd be better off calling it salt cod jerky. My tongue feels like it's scalded from the amount of salt in the dish. Even worse though was the service. It was our anniversary (which they definitely knew) and our server was not personable in the least. Plus they don't even give you the free little special occasion dessert they used to provide with your over-priced, over-salted meal. They know they have you over a barrel because you're already out there, and they didn't even make a pretense of wanting it to be a nice or special dinner. Oh, and if that's not enough to convince you, note they have one of those "service fee" non-optional charges they automatically add to every check -- a percentage of which goes to the kitchen staff -- and another percentage of which goes to the resort. Hey resort mgmt? You get to set the prices -- how about you make do with profits on liquor and your overpriced meals, and give the entirety of the "service" charge to the employees? We were here for our wedding menu tasting that took place the following day and were excited to try the renovated restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was under construction when we last visited the venue. The interior is gorgeous, with a modern and subtle nautical theme. We started with a half dozen of fried oysters for the table - the sriracha aioli was the perfect accompaniment to the cornmeal-breaded oysters, and I found myself scraping the bottom of the sauce cup to get every last bit. I ordered the bone-in chicken breast with mushrooms, carrots, and gnocchi. Though it was good, the chicken and the dish overall was a bit on the dry side. It did come with a sauce but as you can see from the picture, it wasn't enough for both the gnocchi as well as the chicken once it was cut up. After trying a bite of the duck breast that someone else at our table had ordered, I wished I had ordered that instead. The duck was incredibly juicy and tender, and I, for one, love the gamy flavor of duck. Someone else at the table ordered the beef bolognese, which was also delicious - the sauce was really creamy, even more so with the addition of the crème fraiche. I feel that many hotels have on-site restaurants where the food just isn't that great. The food at Alderbrook is really good, and the service is even better. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, with live acoustic guitar playing covers of songs we all recognized. Definitely worth the experience when you stay at the Alderbrook! read more

My wife and I took our girls to dinner there this last Father's day. It was a bad experience. The waitresses behavior was odd. Seemed like she didn't want to be there or serving us but pushed her way though it. Fire alarm went off so they had most of the people evacuate. Odd thing was it was just the restaurant that evacuated not the resort. We got outside and less then a minute later they let us back in which seemed off. When we got back to our table our food was delivered. Why would a restaurant deliver our food while we were evacuated. Seemed very strange. My daughters and I did not like our dishes. well I wanted breakfast & it was past 1 pm, worth the drive from south of Olympia to Union for one of the most breathtaking views of the sound. right from the front door staff guiding me to the restaurant to the hostess that seated me, waitress, young man that brought my meal & espresso, to the very nice young lady behind the bar that cleared my table, everyone approached me with a warm greeting, made me feel welcomed, & I was dressed very very casual, lol... did not have my usual ham & cheese omelette on the menu but the very warm & friendly waitress said it should not be a problem. Did not have hashbrowns but the breakfast potatoes were browned perfectly, sourdough toast the best, espresso mocha complimented the meal & even the iced water was pure with no chlorinated taste. Not cheap but being breakfast is my favorite dine out treat, was worth the splurge... just minor stuff if I was being very picky, was a 4 but have to say a 5 because it filled my day with a wonderful experience... read more

Been there before but first time with our newest addition (20 month old daughter). We had the same fabulous experience for brunch. Polite and had a booth with a view. Staff was friendly with our little one even when spilt her water. Provided complimentary Carrot bread with a honey glaze which was moist and hot the spot. Had the oyster omelette and hash and we enjoyed both. The omelette was our favorite. The hollandaise was a little on the weak side but still overall a good omelette with soft eggs but the oysters crispy. Excellent views and an overall good experience. A sunny Autumn day and a trip to the Canal to see the Fall colors. But first, lunch at Alderbrook! This makes a good get-away for lunch or dinner spot as it is close to Olympia and Tacoma. Great views from the restaurant too. I was surprised to see there was still a breakfast menu with the regular lunch menu at the hour we arrived. So a chicken- club sandwich for my wife (which she loves!) and eggs Benedict for me. I'm not a big ham fan so I asked that it be "held" and it was. Still, delicious hollandaise , poached eggs to perfection seated on their own made brioche bread. The potatoes were "cottage" style. A tad bit "garlic-y" but otherwise great too. Service was prompt,good and warm. It was a surprise that a 20% tip is automatically added. A "tip" line on the bill is still shown so it would be easy to double tip. I would have given our server 20% as her service deserved it. However, call me old school, I prefer tipping as I see fit, not an automatic. My family was in town from the East Coast and we really wanted to come here for dinner as we were already out at Mason lake for the day. Unfortuntaly I had called a few times and there was nothing available to accomodate our party.... but we were told we could come and try to grab a spot on the patio (first come first served). We showed up around 6 with a party of 10 and were told the patio was closed because of the weather. I asked if there was any chance they had an opening in the restaraunt, and to my surprise they were more than happy to make room for us. We got a great spot at the window overlooking the canal (couldn't have asked for a better view!) The staff was SUPER friendly, even when I apologized for our attire (as I mentioned we had just come from a lake day and were not prepared to be dining in the restaurant). Everything about our dinner was outstanding- the service, the food, the drinks, and desserts.... the ONLY thing was that it took quite a while (we had to have been there for 3.5 hours), but I cant even complain about that because I was assuming we would be heading into Belfair for dinner at that point. I definitly will be back to the resteraunt and to enjoy the rest of the what the resort has to offer. With a 6:30 dinner reservation we were seated next to the window with a wonderful mountain, water and forest view. We proceeded to have a cocktail and dinner. Service was good, and we felt no pressure to go fast. I had oysters Rockefeller and my companion had halibut. Both were excellent. We watched dusk creep over the view. It was lovely. My bestie and I were able to try a few different dishes while staying at Alderbrook. Alderbrook offers a few different dining experiences: the bar/lounge, restaurant, patio and lawn dining. Happy Hour is available in the lounge Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm and then again on Friday's from 9pm-close. Cork fee is $25. Upon our arrival, we hit the lounge for happy hour. We each ordered a glass of Sagelands Cab for $7 (hh) each. Sagelands is a nice and unexpected house wine. We ordered the Black Pepper Calamari for $10 (hh): basil, garlic, puttanesca sauce (tomato based), olive oil and sprouts. The calamari was tender but flavorless. The dish was wasted. We also ordered the Campanelle & Cheese (Mac & Cheese) for $8 (hh): cheddar Béchamel sauce and Parmesan cheese. Rich, creamy and delicious. For breakfast we also sat in the lounge. We each ordered a Bloody Mary for $14: served with pickled asparagus, green olives, pickled pearl onions, pickled green beans, one prawn and a lemon and lime wedge. Perfect way to start the day. My bestie and I prefer Breakfast Burrito's so the kitchen was able to modify the Olympic Sunrise into a burrito for $12: two eggs, sausage, cheddar cheese and breakfast potatoes. Yummy. While sitting outdoors on the lawn enjoying the view and/or reading we ordered from the Patio. We ordered a couple glasses of Browne Cab for $12 each. We also ordered the kid's Fish & Chips (2-pc) for $11 + $2 up-charge for truffle fries. It was nice to be able to order a light meal/snack so that we didn't ruin our appetite for dinner. I would suggest that when offering the different types of fries, to also state the up-charge amount as well. There's room for improvement in this area. Dinner reservations were easily made and honored via Open Table online. As requested, we were seated at a window seat in the main restaurant. Complimentary bread with a compound butter is served to nibble on while considering the menu. We each started out with a Cup of Chowder for $8 each. The chowder was served with a thin crisp bread stick. The chowder was served piping hot and loaded with potatoes and meaty clams. Quite enjoyable. For our main entree, we shared the Crab & Buffalo Ravioli (qty 8) for $35: broccoli rabe, spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli's topped with king crab and Alfredo sauce. The crab chunks were impressive. The Alfredo sauce sinful and so very hearty. I'm thankful we shared this rich dish. A complimentary Chocolate Torte was presented to my bestie for her birthday. Our server was kind enough to box this dessert for later consumption since we were both stuffed. For the guests convenience, all food and drink items purchased during ones stay can be billed to the room. Tabs can be settled at time of departure. I appreciate that food and drink can be enjoyed on the beautiful grounds if one desires to do so. All staff members were kind and attentive. I took my husband, my brother-in-law and his girlfriend here as a surprise birthday lunch for my husband. They gave us a corner booth by the window with a waterfront review as I requested and even left a cute postcard that said "Happy Birthday, thank you for celebrating with us!" Everyone was impressed by the extensive brunch menu and it was hard to choose, but most of us went with the recommendations of our helpful waiter (Joyce I think was her name). I got the dungeness crab benedict, which may be one of the best I've had. The potatoes were plentifulT but not cooked perfectly as they were a bit harder than I would've liked. My husband got the Raikes beef burger which he really enjoyed. My brother in law got the salmon scramble and his girlfriend got the clam chowder, which they both enjoyed. The restaurant also gifts you free zucchini bread which was incredible! We liked it so much we asked for more to go and our waiter nicely accommodated us. I had requested them write "Happy Birthday" and put a candle on the dessert if we ordered one. We were thoroughly stuffed so didn't order a dessert but our waiter still brought out a dark chocolate torte with a candle and birthday message on the house! I was really impressed by the attention to detail and the restaurant's generosity. Take a walk around the resort after eating as it's beautiful. Here again for another weekend as we like the grounds and pool. We've had another round of meals here and the food is just not very good. Last night I had the risotto, which had crunchy pasta in it. When I lifted the fork, there were stretchy cheese strings. No wine taste. The mushrooms and greens on top were good, but the stringy cheese and flavor were not what you'd expect. My partner had the fish and chips, which were fine. Breakfast today I got the smoked salmon bagel platter. I was expecting lox but instead received a pike of flaked, cooked salmon with bones. My partner had the classic eggs benedict and again we were confronted with greasy diner food: the hollandaise and potatoes swimming in oil. We would be interested in the culinary adventure tent experiences ($175 per person), but experience tells us it would be more disappointing food. Please, Alderbrook, get some help with the food! read more

We always enjoy our meals at Alderbrook. We live right across in Tahuya, so Alderbrook is our go to place when we want a beautiful meal and great service. A recent meal, however, gave us a minor pause. One of us is gluten-free, so ordered a sandwich with g-f bun. Supply chain issues may be impacting, but it was definitely not up to Alderbrook standards. The sandwich became knife and fork food (still delicious) but the bun crumbled with little provocation. Please evaluate this specific g-f product. We remain fans, but do want to flag that for whomever is sourcing the buns. We'll be back! read more

There are two Alderbrook restaurants with the same name listed on yelp. Not sure what the correct one is, so I'll post my review on this one. I've dined here each summer for the past six years and each time I have been extremely pleased. The food is always fresh, tastes good and is unique. I've posted photos from the past 3 years; not all of the dishes in my photos are currently available. We were staying at the resort but at no time were we ever asked if we were Staying at the resort, so the amazing service we received was never preferential. FOOD: Each year we order the Grand Marnier prawns. They are $18 for 5 prawns and well worth the money. The Prawns have just the right amount of coating to give a crisp layer without being bready, and the Grand Marnier sauce over the top is perfection. Get them! -This year the Creative King Salmon with mushroom bread pudding stood out as my favorite. Our server kindly offered us the option to have it cooked to the chefs preference or more cooked. I like that they offer the option upfront, but definitely go with how the chef prepares it. That's how it is supposed to taste, it is fully cooked, and cooking anymore would just dry it out. The bread pudding was INCREDIBLE! I wanted to order another side of that! We also got the Pea & Lemon Risotto. We opted not to have an additional protein add. The risotto was cooked just right- something most places mess up. -Pro-tip from server Fadji, put strawberry jam on the complimentary bread w/ the house butter. It's so tasty! Just ask for some. -The Hood Canal Hash & Oysters Rockefeller Omelet were scrumptious. I'm not an omelet person, but I kept stealing bites of my husband's omelette and wanting more. While we were waiting for our breakfast they served us some poppyseed bread poundcake thing with a lemon icing drizzle over the top. And go figure that tasted great too! Takeout/Room Service: - Grand Marnier prawns order to the room were warm and served just like in the restaurant. -We wanted some sweet potato waffle fries and salad for a little day trip on the water. The patio did not serve those items and referred us to the restaurant. They were switching over menus but found a way to accommodate us and get our order in. The vinaigrette on the house salad is delicious, the (yam) waffle-fries are always a hit with fresh sea salt on top and a side of Sriracha aïoli. (Pro-tip: the patio now has an ice tray with pre-packaged sauces/aiolis that you can grab. I found this extremely convenient). -room service dessert: When dining in the restaurant we were going to order dessert to go, but one of the staff recommended just ordering the items as room service instead to make sure we got the full portion and presentation. On separate nights we ordered the cake, ice cream, & pie. This is just another example of how fantastic the staff is here. Normally a server will try to upsell you to benefit their tip so it was nice to know that we were being prioritized as guests. A 20% gratuity is included in all of the food so maybe that has something to do with them not trying to push pricey items on us. SERVICE: I've already mentioned a couple times when the staff in the restaurant was gracious and accommodating, but I still want to give another shout out to how fantastic they were. We had a little setback in our dining experience and once the staff was aware they apologized and went above and beyond the usual response to make it right. Joyce, Fadji & Alicia are all incredible people. Try to get one of their tables! My last Pro-Tip, dine in the bar area. Service is usually a bit faster, you get the same menu as the main dining, comfier chairs, no kids, better views and there is almost always a table available. We had both dinner and next morning breakfast there while enjoying our overnight. The food portion is huge and taste was great. Kids menu has good variety to choose from and offered fresh fruits as a side. When asked if we were there for any occasions, we told them it was for my girl's bday and they gave her a free chocolate tortes after dinner along with a signed bday card. It is this little nice personal touch that really make you feel welcomed to their resort. When you find yourself stranded in an area with limited dining options, the façade of Alderbrook may tempt you into believing it's a safe bet. There were moments of greatness and moments of disappointment with our meal which is unfortunate when paying a premium for such delights. Most of the food was neatly cooked and presented, seasoned well, and constructed with ingredients that imparted some great flavors. We did order drinks and starters. We had a soda, a Mai Tai, and a non-alcoholic Lavender Bliss. My son said that the Lavender Bliss was the best drink he's ever had. We ordered a cup of Clam Chowder and the Grand Marnier Prawns as our starters. The prawns were delightful. They were so flavorful and reminiscent of Honey Walnut Prawns from a Chinese restaurant. There were only five, which was disappointing as there were three of us. The chowder was ok but as our family always says, "it isn't as good as Mike's." Mike's Seafood in Ocean Shores holds our trophy for the best clam chowder. For dinner, my husband and I split the Shrimp Louie and added on a portion of salmon, while my son ordered a Caesar salad and the Raikes Bolognese. We also added a side of asparagus and mac & cheese for the table. Portion sizes were appropriate for 1-2 people but a little small for three. As with any dining experience, a few words of caution can go a long way. If you're sensitive to spice, be sure to inquire about the heat level of certain dishes. I encountered a minor hiccup myself when ordering the Shrimp Louis salad. Typically, this is a safe choice, but I was taken aback upon taking my first bite. The dressing packed an unexpectedly fiery punch, leaving a tingling sensation in my ears and a scorching trail down my throat. Surprisingly, even my spice-loving husband found it to be a bit overwhelming. The waitress did try to make it right by redressing the salad with fresh greens with a different dressing. The blue cheese had a vinegary edge that also did not hit the mark but the shrimp itself was impeccably cooked and full of flavor and the salmon was amazing. Its delicate texture, crispiness, and taste left us wanting more. Unfortunately, the damage caused by the Thousand Island dressing had been done and neither I nor my husband could eat our salad. We finished the meal with a Crème Brulé and a Smores Torte. The Crème Brulé was almost perfect. Its caramelized sugar topping provided a satisfying crispness that greeted our spoons with a delightful crack. The sweetness was well-balanced, avoiding any excess, and imparted a pleasing sensation in our mouths. It is worth expressing a slight frustration with the service charge system. It would be greatly appreciated if establishments like Alderbrook incorporated it into the menu prices and explicitly stated that tipping is not required. This would alleviate the annoyance that can arise when presented with a bill that includes an additional charge. The Restaurant at Alderbrook presents itself as a viable option for those fortunate souls blessed with wealth beyond measure. However, for the rest of us mere mortals, this establishment should be saved for that special occasion where you can afford to splurge over $200 for dinner. read more

Went here a few times throughout our stay. Overall had some really great food and drinks. The service is pretty spot on. One thing I want to note is there is a server named Alicia and she seemed to be working so hard the entire time. If I were a restaurant owner, this is the type of employee I would want to hire. For dinner my husband and I had the steelhead, Brussel sprouts and prawns. All were pretty good. Brussel sprouts are a huge serving. Easy to split. The views are pretty amazing here as well. Alderbrook has a nice restaurant that has varied somewhat over the years. One thing that hasn't changed it the tremendous view out over the water from the dining room, and the staff members have always been friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good to its employees during the pandemic. In a recent visit, the food was good but slightly disappointing for the price, though maybe things will even out as business picks up again. Be aware that they do automatically add a "service charge" regardless of your group size. I see that reviews in recent weeks addressed this, although there is still nothing to call it to customers' attention except for a line item on the bill, which I missed. This meant I inadvertently tipped, even based in part on the added gratuity amount. My fault for not scrutinizing the bill. The breakfasts and brunches have been consistently good. The restaurant is nearly always reasonably quiet, and the overall sense remains that they're striving to do their best. read more

Nice location inside the Alderbrook resort. Good water views from some window-side tables. Food was hit and miss--went for birthday brunch and requested a window seat on our Open Table reservation. Hostess seated us window-side, but in the bar...Eggs Benedict was basic and arrived cold, with an eggshell in the mix. Potatoes were tasty, as was the side order of fresh fruit (large enough for two to share). Veggie scramble was very tasty with lots of fresh veg. My coffee cup had lipstick residue (sign that the kitchen is not paying attention to sanitation). Server laughed it off as "not your color"--I'm a guy who does not wear lipstick... Sort of funny, but no apology. Our table was sticky. Built-in service fee pretty much provides no incentive for great service, We will give them another chance, but it was a long drive for a pretty run of the mill brunch. read more

Reasons for two stars: -$21 burger that was ok, pickles bland flavor -Caesar salad arrived with out dressing which didn't have great flavor when we finally got it. Croutons impenetrable. Added chicken that was this unappetizing green color that could of been pesto but it was too dry to tell. No Kale anywhere in the salad even though the menu indicated and the whole sardines on top saturated the lettuce so we ended up tossing most of it. Would eat the truffle fries again but go to the takeout deck on the lawn if getting food because prices are cheaper and it is easier to get to unlike the restaurant that is a maze to find. read more

During our stay at Alderbook my husband and I enjoyed a dinner and a brunch at this lovely restaurant. We found it to be a five star dining experience with a five star view. For both meals we were fortunate enough to sit at tables along the window with views of the water. I did make dinner reservations which I've found sometimes helps with better seating. Every course of our dinner was fresh and full of flavor. My husband started with fresh oysters and I started with a soup special that was black bean and coconut. Both were delicious and started the meal off right. We both enjoyed red meat entrees that were both well prepared and seasoned appropriately. The sides on the plates were perfect complements to the meats. We finished the meal with a tangy, fruity lemon and huckleberry tart. I love that they incorporate local foods into the menu. Our brunch here was equally as amazing as our dinner experience. The most memorable part of our breakfast was the apple dumplings that were both flaky and full of delicious apple filling. My husband had a fluffy omelet that was packed with fresh crab. The potatoes on the side were delicious as well. My waffles were yummy as well and came with fresh maple syrup. I wanted to different entrees for this but can only do one. 3 stars is the average for this visit. Part 1: the dining room (0 stars) We were seated at 6:15. A very nice young lady brought water and bread (really good bread btw). No one else came remotely close to our table in 30 minutes. Tables next to us, behind us and below us had service, other patrons were seated and received service. For us, nothing. I asked my wife only half joking "are we invisible?" We asked a busser if she could send someone to take our order. After 5 more minutes I checked the bar. Open seating- we went there. Part 2: the bar (5 stars) What a difference! My fiancé and I stopped by Alderbrook Resort Restaurant because we just wanted to try out the seafood here. Although the prices are a bit expensive, we didn't mind as we understood this IS a fancy resort in Union, WA. We were strongly aware of that. At the time of the service, we thought we got it perfectly good. The waitress was quite good at catching up with us when we were ready to order the foods, checking back with us for anything we would need, and getting the check. She was also good about food suggestion. Of course, my fiance and I settled down for seafood courses because... Hello!? You're out at the water, so you might as well just get seafood since it is fresh 24/7. We both ordered the honey walnut shrimp with salad for appetizer and plank fish for entrees. It was very good to the point after we were done eating, my eyes began to close for sleepiness. Haha. Unfortunately, the waitress revealved to us that the chef would take down the plank fish entree from the menu. So we definitely hope s/he would put something just as good as the entree on the menu. read more

Skip the Buffett. I'll start off by saying our waitress was great given the circumstances. And the omelette bar was great. With that said the Mother's Day brunch was abysmal, given the price of over 60 bucks a person. Not to mention two bloody Mary's were 30 dollars. For two. That's it. They were delicious but not worth 30 bucks. The biggest problem was the food was cold when we were there at 11:45. That's prime brunch time in my book and the food should be at least warm. Potatoes of all kinds were cold. Chicken was cold and dry. Sausage was cold. Bacon cold. Eggs Benedict was somehow cold and burnt (but the egg was perfectly poached, credit there). Biscuits were cold and dry. Gravy was cold. Roast beef in a delicious mustard sauce was cold and chewy. Blintzes had a burnt flavor. Short cakes were dry as was most of the deserts. French toast was cold. I was prepared for a big bill but 170 bucks including two drinks (not including tips) then the food should have been pristine. We've been coming here for the last 8 of 10 years and almost always had a great dining experience, but our most recent visit has by far been the most disappointing. Overall - meh. Our food was mostly overcooked/dry, but the spaghetti and meatball (singular) was a major miss. The meatball (tough like grandpa's overcooked well-done steak) was likely frozen then microwaved - how else to explain steaming outside and lukewarm inside? But the pasta was undercooked - go figure. The berry cobbler dessert came out just shy of frozen - would have been much better if it had been heated (or room temp) with a scoop of ice cream. There is an automatic 20% service charge on the bill, which only fosters the average service provided by the staff, which had a lack of enthusiasm. Pure telltale: when asking for menu recommendations, lay caution if they only recommend the two most expensive items on the menu - they don't know, they don't care, or they're only trying to inflate the bill. read more

tl;dr: Overpriced, laughably bad service. Do not recommend. The details: We had reservations for Christmas brunch buffet. After being seated, a waitress asked what we wanted to drink and we ordered a mimosa. We went to the buffet and 25% of the food was out. The horseradish sauce was not there, though the sign for it was, and when asked for more, the staff looked bewildered and simply looked at each other remarking about how the bowl was gone without offering to get more. When we returned to the table and saw the mimosa had still not arrived, I re-ordered the mimosa, this time it came. The oysters, which were out on my first trip to the buffet had been refilled by the second trip, and it turns out they only put out about 2 dozen at a time--really cheap of them and not at all appropriate for the number of people dining at the restaurant. It took a long time to make eye contact with a waitress so when we ordered a second mimosa, we went ahead and asked for the check too. Neither came, and I asked a second time, for the check only this time. The check came but they charged us for two mimosas when we only received one. I had to ask them to remove it, which took another 10 minutes of waiting because something happened with the machine and the charge slip. Plus, they ended up having to cancel out a transaction and only to charge us again. With the number of snafus, I will have to keep an eye out in the coming weeks to make sure the first charge was actually voided correctly. Through our entire meal, two large vacated tables were full of dirty dishes. If we were to compare it to Salty's, they both cost about the same ($50/person) and have a beautiful water view, but Salty's has a chocolate fountain, live piano, and plenty of food including enough oysters out to feed a small village with, and good service. I've seriously had better communication with wait staff in other countries where we don't even speak the same language. The only reason I'm not giving them 1-star is because the food tasted good and was presented well at dinner. Brunch was such a hot mess, if I wasn't staying at the resort and essentially trapped because everything was closed on Christmas evening, there is no chance I would've eaten there again. read more

Came in for Sunday brunch with the family. We were awkwardly sat in the back on a half booth half table with another family that was sitting about 3 feet away on the same booth. Little too close for good adult conversation when they had small, loud children. Service was a bit slow but they brought some type of pumpkin, spice bread that was amazing. We ate all of it a little too fast and probably could've eaten another 3 servings of it. I got BlackBerry granola pancakes and was expecting the granola to actually be in the pancake. Slightly weird consistency but the BlackBerry flavor was very yummy. Good meal and a great view! read more

The best recommendation to eat in Union, WA. I was staying at the Robinhood Resort nearby and toured this hotel during the holidays. Very nice and beautifully built on the water! Our group got to Dine at Bill Gate's favorite table. The crab melt was divine and so was the steak sandwich. read more

Amazing. That's all I can say about Alderbrook Inn Waterfront Restaurant. Oh ok, I can say more I guess. First of all the location is gorgeous, located in the little town of Union on Hood Canal. Kind of out of the way and secuded. It is a destination restaurant with sweeping views of Hood Canal. The building is beautiful, the grand entrance complete with porte-cochere is built in the style of a northwestern style lodge, which funnily enough is exactly what is. The restaurant is set right on the beach and has a casual vibe. We were there for lunch and it was fairly quiet. Our waitress, Amber, was prompt and efficient. She put up with my indecisiveness like a pro! Kudos Amber! I ended up getting the Rueben and fries! Thick grilled marble rye filled generously with tender juicy corned beef and fresh sauerkraut, melty swiss cheese and Russian dressing. Probably the best Rueben I've had in years, I especially loved the tenderness of the beef. My husband had the clubhouse sandwich, jampacked with cheese, thick slices of house roasted turkey breast and gigantic rashers of thick sliced bacon all topped with luscious ripe tomatoes and avocado. Not your average clubhouse sandwich! Both sandwiches came with a generous portion of perfect French Fried potatoes. I never thought I would ever find a restaurant that serves fries the way that I like them, skin on and fried til they are a little bit more than golden brown and super crispy. I loved them. But the pièce de résistance was the steamed clams! Oh my goodness! The portion was huge! Probably 3 dozen? I couldn't count them. Steamed in an herb butter broth and served with toasted baguette for soaking up the broth. Sweet, tender bits of seafood heaven. If you are ever near the little town of Union you have to try this place, it represents all the beauty and tastes of the northwest in one spectacular place! read more

Came here during a trip to Hoodsport, WA. We stayed at an air bnb so we weren't hotel guests, but saw reviews of non-hotel guests dining here and figured it wouldn't be a problem. first thing we were asked when we got there was if we were hotel guests. When we said no, they gave us an hour long wait time even though we saw a bunch of empty seats in the back. We decided to order takeout and saw we received a limited options menu with like 4 entrees total. We asked how long this wait would be and they said "well since we're so busy it'll probably be at least 30 minutes." We left the restaurant and got a call about 3 minutes later (not even joking here ) that our food was ready. I'm genuinely surprised the restaurant didn't even fake the food not being ready-made here. For how expensive the restaurant was you would expect it to be cooked to order. When we went back in to pick it up (remember about 3 min later after we initially came in) we saw a couple come in, say they didn't have a reservation like us, and then say they were hotel guests, and get seated immediately. I understand hotel guests being a priority if that's the way the restaurant works but if that's the case why even let non-guests in if it's so clear you don't want them lol. I would've rather just been told it was a guests-only restaurant than played hooky with like that. Idk the vibes were just really weird and unwelcoming. From the perspective of a non-hotel guest I'm giving it 2 stars. If you're a hotel guest, the area is really nice and I'm sure the dining experience would be much different and would be fun to do along with your stay. Beautiful views, delicious food, wonderful service. Could not have asked for a better lunch than this after a boat ride. Kids meals were a fantastic deal with huge portions, an appetizer, and a drink. For grown ups the clams were one of the best. So fresh! Lettuce wrapped burger was very flavorful.
