I emailed them for rates ($.50/lb for the cans - rate changes daily, so call ahead if you care) and more information and they responded within a few hours, which was nice. I then called to see, as a newbie, what I needed to know when I came in. He said to just pull in and we'll handle it as we go. Fair enough. I Google-mapped my destination so there were no surprised. You need to turn off S Park Street (there's a sign) and take dirt driveway/road back to their business. So I roll in and see another vehicle parked near what looked like an office. Great - I'll pull up by him and we'll get going. I looked around and waited - nobody really stepped up to help. A guy returned from the yard and walked right past me, but then asked what I had. We were on our way. We loaded the bags of cans onto a scale. He printed me a receipt and told me to take it to the office (not far) to cash out. I walked over to the office and the guy behind the glass took my receipt and, because I wanted cash (not a check), he printed me another receipt. There's a cash machine there that will pay you with that second receipt. Great! Now that I know how it works, next time will be easier. I also had a couple dead struts from a van that I wanted to recycle - they'll happily take that stuff off your hands, though I don't believe they weigh enough to warrant payment. Got a whole car to dispose of? That should register - they'll take it! It's not pretty, but hey - it's a recycling center (aka "scrap yard"). Don't come here if: - you just got a car wash - you're wearing your best shoes - you're wearing white pants Do come here if: - you have scrap metal to recycle/dispose of - you want cash for aluminum cans We'll keep crushing our cans and I'll be back with another load when the time comes!

The recycling process is easy: - head into the office - they'll open the garage door for you to drive in to unload your goods - place the item(s) on the scale - pay per pound for what you're getting rid of (if it's not one of the many, many free items) TVs are 35 cents per pound; the total came out to $14. It was a bit more than recycling through the city ($10 flat fee) but significantly cheaper than Best Buy ($25 flat fee). Also, the woman who helped us said they recycle in the US - the items are not getting shipped off as trash and pollutants to other countries. There's no appointment necessary for drop-offs, and they also offer a pickup service. In the office they have several refurbished computer monitors and laptops for sale at a deep discount compared to retail; if you're in the market for these items it's probably not a bad idea to check them out if you're flexible in what you need. Super nice people and you can dispose of your things in a way that is as environmentally friendly as possible.

A man came up and told me I need to pull back out. I said I will...... then I proceeded to ask him where the cans go. Then a big man with a beard come up and started rudely chastising me for pulling inside (an honest mistake on my part). He then asked what I need. After all that chastising I told him I needed nothing. He then told me I shouldn't be upset because I was the one that did something wrong. I started pulling out and he mentioned a price of 60 cents a pound. I don't care if it's 60 dollars a pound. I WILL NOT be talked to like that and I will never be back. I will take my cans elsewhere. GFL is the company that picks up trash in my area. My cans were out in plenty of time for Monday's…read morepickup (Sunday night). They skipped my house but picked up for all of my neighbors. This despite the price I pay for a second can; which is not past due according to my current bill. I called today -- Alex, the guy I talked to, was completely professional and polite the whole time. However, they couldn't send someone to get my trash "because I didn't call yesterday." But it isn't my responsibility to call them; its their responsibility to empty the cans. 4 stars for Alex...1 star for the company.

GFL TRUCK DAMAGED MY PROPERTY AND DROVE AWAY…read more I came home from my gym today at 1 pm to discover the road in front of my house was totally blocked by several large tree limbs that had been torn off a large city maple tree on the corner of Stevens and Ridge Street. I immediately suspected that an oversized van or truck tore the branches off my tree, and noticed that there was a significant amount of damage to OTHER limbs still on the tree. The stop sign at the intersection was sitting at an angle...looking like it had also been hit by a vehicle. A neighbor came out and said "I have a RING doorbell...maybe it recorded the incident." Well, it did record what happened. At 11:45 am, a GFL garbage truck type vehicle swerved and hit the tree branches, and then drove away without leaving a note. The GFL logo is clearly visible on the side of the truck. I called it in, and the city sent a crew to clear the street. Sadly, they took NONE of the giant branches with them, but rather tossed them in my yard and perennial garden in my front yard. I saw them doing this, and even though they had a TRAILER, they took none of the limbs. The guy told me... "That's your responsibility. You need to cut them up." The branches are huge (see the photo). I'm 69. I can't even LIFT branches this size. Nor do I think it fair for me to have to hire a tree service when I know it was a GFL truck that hit the tree. I filed a police report today, and left a voicemail on GFL's answering machine.
