We really liked this place and would not hesitate to book here again…read more Pros: Nice quiet location with a super-friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts were good and the place was really quiet at night. It also has a really nice, good-sized indoor pool. It's located just on the outskirts of the town so there's plenty of shopping and lake access in a very short walking/driving distance. Best of all, loons in the lake! Cons: The rooms, or at least the one we had, are a bit dated. Everything certainly looked clean, but definitely a bit worn down. One special note, for those getting the 'economy' room (307?); the bathroom needs some rework. The shower could fit 4 people easily, but the toilet is unbelievably low and is jammed into a corner, making the 'sit down' experience a bit of an adventure. I'm 5' 8" and 225 lbs., and it was definitely an 'issue.' If you're bigger than me, avoid this room until they redo the bathroom. Definitely not enough to take a star off, but something you and they should be aware of.

The hotel looks nice on the outside and the accommodations seemed clean and orderly. But, there was no ice in the ice maker and no hot water when we went to take a shower. Breakfast consisted of a paper bag filled with 3 sausages and a sandwich made of a muffin egg sausage and cheese that we microwaved in the Room. It was pretty tasty. All in all, I just couldn't bring myself to give this place even 3 stars. I also had to pay an extra $10 pet deposit bringing up the total amount I spent to $107 Which I feel was too much for a hotel that doesn't really supplied the things that are necessary. Won't be staying here again thank goodness.

We stayed for four days and were so pleased with our Suite providing us excellent views, even in frozen winter. Chris was an excellent host making us the most delicious breakfasts every morning. This is an architecturally unique place with gorgeous views and all types of rooms to relax, filled with thoughtful amenities. We got to tour many of the rooms all with private baths and nicely well done. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite- a romantic suite equipped with a double Jacuzzi and a two-person shower. It's so convenient on the (frozen) waters edge walking distance to downtown and dozens of restaurants. We walked to many of the restaurants. Thank you Chris for helping to make our 'pearl' anniversary at the Red Bridge Inn in Parks Rapids so special.

Not sure how I haven't written a review of the red bridge inn…read more If you've stayed in park rapids hotels the choices are very limited. I'm here every few months. One of my coworkers stumbled on the red bridge (it's on the hiking trail system) and we have all made it our place to stay when in town for the last several years. Rooms are clean. I travel too much and that's important. Fairly good size. Well equipped with bathrooms etc. They are all different. It's a B&B with the hosts living off site which is not the norm. That makes it quiet!!! There are 7 rooms. The inn itself is on the river. Beautiful setting. Breakfast is what you want. I like a full breakfast. Bam. Friends like toast. What kind? I've seen folks get everything from 'just coffee' to a bowl of fruit or cereal. Just the way it should be Common areas are great. Large deck on the river. Large dining area- tables etc as well as a separate room with tables etc I suspect for meetings and groups. There's an area with couches and tv if that's your fancy. The deck is equipped with grills and a dock - it's on the river and they do rent boats. There's a hot tub. This is not a 5 star hotel. It is a clean well run place to stay wether on vacation or travel for work. 5 stars for me!!

The…read morecharms of this place include that the lobby has a fireplace and is a nice, warm, and welcoming space. The continental breakfast is a step above many other similar hotels- they have waffles, the usual type of items (English muffins, danishes, etc), but also have a cooler with breakfast sandwiches, French toast sticks, and omelets. It was nice to see such a big variety of choices. The rooms are nice overall, no real complaints there. Nothing remarkable, but fit our needs. The hot tub was out of order, but there is a nice pool and a sauna. The pool roof has a lofted wood ceiling, which is always a pleasant design.

And here's the biggest complaint - I woke up on Sunday morning with a bug crawling right by my face. I pulled back the covers and there was another one. I'm pretty sure they were bed bugs. I ran into the shower, threw all my stuff into a big bag (and left it outside when I got home). When I told the desk and showed them my video of the bugs, the only thing I was told was they would let the managers know. I called the managers a few days later and they had no recompense, not even a free night. I would think bugs in my bed would merit some reaction, but nothing. I was told to call the corporate office. When I called the corporate office, they said it is the hotel's responsibility. Also, I should mention that my son's room had a broken lock so they told him he would have to come to the desk every time he wanted to go in or out of his room to get it unlocked (or leave it unlocked). Seriously??!! After waiting at the desk for a long time throughout the evening because no one was at the desk when he wanted his door unlocked, he gave up and left it unlocked. Is there no one there that can fix the lock?? So now I find out our next family reunion is at another Wyndham AmericInn Hotel in a different location. I'm willing to forgive and forget so when I went to make my reservations, I saw that I did not get all my points from the bed bug hotel. I chatted with the corporate office to find out where the points were. After waiting on hold for over 15 minutes, I finally heard from the Customer Service person (I use that term loosely), who types that I'm only allowed points for 3 rooms per stay. Who knew??? Then he/she types "Is there anything else I can help with?" and signs off immediately ... so I guess I don't. My conclusion is that it is not a local hotel problem, it starts at the corporate office with really bad customer relations and no desire to provide customer service. I may find a different hotel close by for the family reunion this year - I don't want to give any more of my money to Wyndham/AmericInn (plus hopefully I'll have a better chance of not getting a bed bug room again). The photos are taken from the video I showed the front desk.

This hotel is part of a historic landmark in Walker, Minnesota. When you are visiting and folks ask you where you are staying and you mention, "Chase on The Lake" , their response is always positive - like "wow, that's a really great place!". I never got any, "Wow, wait until you're awake in your room at 3 AM." or anything of that sort. Situated on along Leech Lake and in the middle of downtown Walker, it's very easy to come down and take a walk around the area. I stayed in a room right above the restaurant on the first floor, with a lake view (every hour is a different "wow" as the sun makes its way around the lake). It's rather convenient staying in that room because one can always check out the restaurant deck by looking out of the window (in case it may be crowded). You can walk down the stairs from there to the restaurant / deck. Just be aware of their hours as the door at the end of the stairwell will be locked when the restaurant is closed. There is always another way to the deck and that is through walking out and by the side of the Copper Spa building (road leads to the dock too), which is still a part of the hotel. Parking in front of the hotel is ample but there were weekdays where it seemed like there were a lot of cars - must be because it was in the summer and people just love the lake. Going back to the spa - they aren't open daily. There is a pamphlet by the front desk for the spa. I made the mistake of assuming they're open daily on the week and missed out on a potentially soothing deep-tissue massage (or pedicure!). There is a little pool where kiddie birthday parties are often held. Speaking of front desk, they're always very cordial EXCEPT for this young man during this one evening who looked like he couldn't care any less about guests coming in or out - I figured he may be new or just tired of life (at 18 LOL). My room was clean, well-equipped with the basics like a hair dryer, microwave, a fridge and bathroom toiletries . The housekeeping does not come in on a daily basis. They're on-demand. You take your bag of trash and leave it outside your door and the housekeeper will pick it up in the morning. The shower water is warm enough and just right. Despite being a very old hotel, my room did not have any of that old and musty "odor" , not even the hallways nor the stairwell. The TV, however, was pretty complicated, standard and nothing like the Marriott, etc. where the TV was smart, HD and easy to navigate. It wasn't a very big deal though, but it's always a plus if the TV was HD and smart nowadays. I must say, this review is a nice suggestion for a bedtime read at the Chase on the Lake, because at this point, I'm so sure you'd have snored off. I hope the pictures entice you though!

I especially loved making my own mini waffles -- perfectly crispy, sweet, and totally satisfying. We also made use of the pool and hot tub area, which was a highlight. It was a bit chaotic when we stopped by just before 10pm, but after the switch to adults-only hours (10pm-midnight), it was calm and relaxing -- we had the whole space to ourselves! My only wish is that they'd provide full-sized pool towels instead of the tiny hand towel-sized ones. Overall, a clean, comfy, and convenient place to stay -- great value and a great time! While I can honestly say that I did not expect a place like Bemidji to be on a list of "must see"…read moreplaces to go in the US, here we are. I devote a huge amount of that to our awesome hotel! To begin with the staff was amazing, they were so efficient and kind. The breakfast spread was amazing, also coffee and tea around the clock (excellent cup of coffee might I add, not that weak stuff). Beyond that the amenities were everything we wanted and didn't know we'd be getting. Biking around the lake at sunset, watching the sun go down from the hot tub, and just an overall sense of ease relaxing in front of the fireplace. The king room was so comfortable and quiet, and the bedding was so soft! If you find yourself in this corner of the world check this place out.
