We stayed for four days and were so pleased with our Suite providing us excellent views, even in frozen winter. Chris was an excellent host making us the most delicious breakfasts every morning. This is an architecturally unique place with gorgeous views and all types of rooms to relax, filled with thoughtful amenities. We got to tour many of the rooms all with private baths and nicely well done. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite- a romantic suite equipped with a double Jacuzzi and a two-person shower. It's so convenient on the (frozen) waters edge walking distance to downtown and dozens of restaurants. We walked to many of the restaurants. Thank you Chris for helping to make our 'pearl' anniversary at the Red Bridge Inn in Parks Rapids so special.

One of my coworkers stumbled on the red bridge (it's on the hiking trail system) and we have all made it our place to stay when in town for the last several years. Rooms are clean. I travel too much and that's important. Fairly good size. Well equipped with bathrooms etc. They are all different. It's a B&B with the hosts living off site which is not the norm. That makes it quiet!!! There are 7 rooms. The inn itself is on the river. Beautiful setting. Breakfast is what you want. I like a full breakfast. Bam. Friends like toast. What kind? I've seen folks get everything from 'just coffee' to a bowl of fruit or cereal. Just the way it should be Common areas are great. Large deck on the river. Large dining area- tables etc as well as a separate room with tables etc I suspect for meetings and groups. There's an area with couches and tv if that's your fancy. The deck is equipped with grills and a dock - it's on the river and they do rent boats. There's a hot tub. This is not a 5 star hotel. It is a clean well run place to stay wether on vacation or travel for work. 5 stars for me!!

The continental breakfast is a step above many other similar hotels- they have waffles, the usual type of items (English muffins, danishes, etc), but also have a cooler with breakfast sandwiches, French toast sticks, and omelets. It was nice to see such a big variety of choices. The rooms are nice overall, no real complaints there. Nothing remarkable, but fit our needs. The hot tub was out of order, but there is a nice pool and a sauna. The pool roof has a lofted wood ceiling, which is always a pleasant design.

On September 25 at approximately 2:00 p.m., we spoke with Jessica about early check-in. We explained that the hot tub was important because this was our anniversary trip. Jessica told us that most of the hotel's hot tub rooms were not working and acknowledged that the website needed to be updated. She located Room 219, which supposedly had a working hot tub, and allowed us to check in. When we entered Room 219, it had clearly not been cleaned: garbage was overflowing, used coffee cups and towels remained, the bed was unmade, and there were items in the hot tub. Because we understood we had arrived early, we left our belongings and returned around 6:30 p.m., expecting housekeeping to have cleaned the room. It had not. We reported the issue to Isaiah, who moved us to Room 222 and said he was upgrading us at no charge because of the problem. Room 222 was clean, and we eventually used the hot tub. Shortly afterward, we discovered that the lobby below our room was flooding and water was coming through the ceiling. We were told the flooding was caused by the hot tub in Room 222 and that we needed to move again. Isaiah said he would return after handling the situation, but he never did. We were left without another room or instructions and eventually went to sleep after 1:00 a.m. We also learned that other rooms had reportedly been left uncleaned, suggesting a larger housekeeping issue. The following morning, September 26, we were told there were no rooms available and that we needed to speak with Jessica. We waited until nearly 11:00 a.m., but Jessica still had not returned. We ultimately asked that our one-night stay be comped and explained that we would find another place to stay. Jessica initially refused, but after we explained that the "upgrade" was provided only because our original room had not been cleaned--and that we were never given another room after Room 222 flooded--she agreed to comp the stay. We checked out and subsequently received confirmation of a $141.44 credit. However, on September 28, 2026, AmericInn by Wyndham - Park Rapids charged our credit card $141.44 anyway. We have now spent two days attempting to contact the hotel, Jessica, and Customer Care. No one has been able to reach the hotel or Jessica, and we have received no explanation for why the charge was processed after the stay was explicitly comped and a $141.44 credit was confirmed.

A friend was also staying at the hotel and not only was his room $100 more than our room ($250) he arrived 45 minutes early and was told there was a $40 early check-in fee! In all of our experiences of traveling I have never been told there would be a fee to check-in early, assuming our room was ready. Especially for checking in only an hour or two early. We did not check-in early. When we returned at 3:00 noticed others were also waiting to check-in. Some even made the most of it and were sitting on a blanket in the parking lot enjoying some beverages.

In the office they have board games ( for rainy days) , ice cream , clothes, Bait and fishing advice if you want To know where to catch 'em . I'm a bit of a glamping kind of lady and the cabins at Cedar Shores are log homes away from home. Everything was clean and even the comforters were freshly laundered. Our family stayed in cabin #6 and it has a beautiful deck with a fantastic view and direct access to the beach. They supplied the water toys to include kayaks and canoes. The beach was cleaned every morning by Louis, one of the family proprietors. If we needed anything, Juanita or Louis was right there for us. They care about their guests and give their property TLC. We hope to spend many more weeks in late summer at Cedar Shores!

I found the racks had cleaner that had not been rinsed off; and the racks were still covered with grease that I couldn't rinse off. I mentioned the mouse droppings when leaving and was told the cabin is 90 years old and mice get in, and was told I should of taken the batteries out of the smoke detector if that bothered me. There is no internet or TV service. We left a day early because we couldn't handle another uncomfortable day. The owners were unconcerned as you can see by their responses and actions. If you don't mind mouse droppings; dirt and uncomfortable bed, this place is for you.
