After following this artist for months and months on the internet, I was ecstatic to hear he would be working out of Fresno at this shop. Couldn't have been more pleased with my experience with Mike at Resistance. Not only was he professional and prepared for the appointment, but was relaxed and sweet as can be (which is hard to come by with most tattoo artists). My tattoo is everything I wanted and more, and I have plans to get more work from him in the future. Aside from this artist in particular, the other co-owner of the shop was incredibly nice, as well as the rest of the staff that I came in contact with. The shop is conveniently located and has a low key vibe. Would definitely recommend this shop and particularly mike for anyone wanting some great work in Fresno. I've had 4 of my 6 tattoos done in this shop. (One done yesterday actually). Dylan did my most recent one and it turned out awesome. I showed him a rocket ship I wanted and he drew one out that looked wayyyy better than the original! It looks so awesome and it's really bright which is cool. I also love that they charge by hour and not by piece. I had one tattoo done at RedWave and it cost $80 for 6 super small words on my arm and here my giant bad ass rocket ship tattoo was $140. I was excited for my first tattoo and I researched and saw that they did walk-ins. But, when I walked in everyone was sitting around and I waited for 10-15 mins till they responded. They told me they aren't available and made write on a slip with my my info saying they will call me back. They never did call me back. Horrible experience for a first time. read more

I came here with my friends for a walk in. They re-traced mine a few times until I was totally satisfied. They did two small tattoos for me for $60 which is insanely cheap for what I'm used to. I had J (jay??? Idk he was bald and really cool) do mine and he was really patient with me because I'm a baby when it comes to needles. He paid attention to detail and line work but worked efficiently. I will 1000% come back here for my next tattoos! read more

I was getting my very first tattoo and "J" the owner was highly recommended to me so I was very confident that I would have a beautiful tattoo that was done well but I was sadly disappointed. He was very arrogant from the minute I met him and he made me wait well over an hour while he got his equipment ready even though I had an appointment so I should have just left then but I was excited about getting the tattoo so I stayed. When I originally saw the tattoo I was still high on adrenaline and nerves so I thought it looked great but by the next morning after really looking at it I realized it was really messed up. I went in with a photo of what I wanted and what he drew up did look a little different but I thought he would at least use the same colors as the one I wanted and it would still look similar so I was really surprised to see that without even consulting me he used very bold colors that were nothing like the subdued colors of the one I brought in (the tattoo was on my shoulder so I couldn't see what he was using.) Not only does my tattoo look NOTHING like what I wanted but the work on it is absolutely horrible and I've even been told it looks like a prison tattoo! The way it looked I didn't even like to look at it and definitely wouldn't wear clothes that showed it so luckily I was able to find a different tattoo artist that was at least able to clean up all the mistakes and terrible line work and soften up the ugly bright colors that were used. It does look better now than it did but I still don't like it very much because it was supposed to be a beautiful tribute piece and it looks nothing like what I envisioned. The worst part is it was my first tattoo and I did have plans to get more but after this experience and the ugly defacement I have to wear on my skin forever I'm very leery of ever taking a chance of letting anyone desecrate my body like this again. Even though I'm not sure if I'll get more tattoos I am very sure that I would never let J even get close to me with a tattoo needle again and I definitely would not recommend him to anyone. We all have bad days and since other people swear he does great work maybe he was having a bad day but it caused a permanent disfigurement on my body so I for one wouldn't chance him having another bad day and causing more harm. read more

Scheduled an appointment to get two small tattoos done with my girlfriend, her first-my third. This was the best experience I've had with a tattoo artist. I got my first tattoo at True Anchor in Fresno and it was also really great; but the time the artist at Resistance took to talk with us about our tattoos really made a big difference in how comfortable she was to get her first one. I was getting one on my inner arm and knew it would hurt but he helped me relax for it and made it a really good experience for both of us. Both tattoos turned out great and we'll definitely be going back to him for more soon! read more

After looking at all of the possible locations, I decided on this tattoo parlor. It didn't have many reviews but the ones it did have were strong. I went in early Saturday and got greeted by Shawnessey. He is an awesome guy who is super nice. Started talking about a design that I had and he said no problem and gave me quote right there. I came back later same day for my appointment and he had already drawn up the design. It was really really good but had a few items that weren't as accurate as I had hoped. It was hard telling a great artist you don't agree with the work but hell it IS permanent. He said ok with no anger went back to the board and came back with what I thought was perfect. He then went to work on the tat. He was excellent and super informative. I really would recommend this place to everyone. read more

I went to one of their competitors on a Sunday evening for a consultation and was assured that one of two artist would be calling me back on Tuesday to schedule an appt. to do my tattoo. Well, Tuesday came and by 2pm NO CALL BACK. I called them, and they couldn't even find my paperwork, and basically just blew me off!!!!! Crappy Customer Service at their new Northern location!!! I got my first tattoo here! Okay, so walking up to the shop I was intimidated because all of the guys were standing outside just hanging out. As I walked into the shop, one of the guys followed me inside and instantly made me feel comfortable. He asked me what I wanted done and I told him. At this point he informed me of their $120 an hour charge and then said he would do my tattoo for $200. I felt like it was a reasonable price because it was a pretty big piece. He left me in the little waiting area and went to the back to draw up the tattoo at which point he said if I didn't like the way he drew it there was no pressure for me to do it. It took him about 45-min. I liked it so he set up and started on my tat. All in all I think it took over two hours for him to complete it. He wasn't very talkative and I later found out he hadn't been tattooing for too long. The end result was good though. I love my tattoo! They are all very friendly and make you feel so comfortable. The shop itself is so nice and clean. There's artwork all over the walls and they keep their stations clean so it's very reassuring. They also have some great artists like Cat! Her work is amazing. I will definitely be going back to this shop. read more
