I've been down with the current bug making the rounds and decided to knit something fun while I…read morerested. I haven't knitted in ages so I headed to this shop which I used to frequent. The moment you walk in, you're already trying to take in all the textures and colors of the fibers tempting you! So many projects to inspire! Cindy, the owner, remembered me even though it had been at least 15 years. I told Cindy what I wanted to do and she gave me great advice, helped me decide on the colors and made sure I understood the pattern. Her store is easy to find, parking is right there and you'll want to linger. Be warned, you can get carried away by all the creativity you'll encounter. Her yarn selection is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Some of the distinctive artisan fibers will cost you a pretty penny but when you're investing time in an item, it's worth it!

I have a lot in common with one of them and won't name names but she has taken time out to show me the ropes as best as she could the one day I was there, I walked away to look and by the time I was ready my goodness the shop was packed...today is Tuesday and we spoke late Fri I think and we spoke about myself coming in today, Tuesday so she can show me a few tricks and so I can spend more..I have never seen such beautiful beads...The atmosphere is incredible. she even fed anyone who walked in the door on friday pizza if they cared to have any.. I am most impressed with how she handles herself, her personality, her thoughtfulness, generousity and always willing to help the new, like me...today I am walking in with all I have bought so far and having her help me tell me what to get rid of and what I need and she had a bracelet I made on my own that is dead on one she has in the store...its absolutely beautiful. her other friend who worlks there helped me make one for my 6 year old daughter and it turned out amazing. I like that your not kicked out you left to do and stay as long as you like...now that is a family owned shop with CLASS.. she is a CLASSY WOMEN. The Bead Shop has been in business for about 20 years, 18 of which have been spent at its present Camargo Road location in Madeira. There are just endless possibilities for beads and jewelry, or so people say (heck if I'd know). I went in the other day with my mother and she was almost overwhelmed with those "possibilities," as any beginning "beader" might be, but if you have more experience with beads you'd probably be more excited than overwhelmed. If you are looking to make jewelry--because I guess that's what girls like to do--then The Bead Shop has all you can want and more. As far as beads go, The Bead Shop has pearls, glass beads, silver, crystal, and stones. They come in strands of 16 beads, although for a while I thought they were necklaces. The Bead Shop has "everything you need to assemble your creations," from earrings to clasps to hemp cord, and even many beading books and magazines. Another cool thing I saw on the walls was Indonesian masks that are meant to be hung on the wall. I saw two different styles of "Comedy and Tragedy," as well as a rabbit and a human "Whisper" face. The masks generally sell for between $30 and $90 (perhaps the $90 was because of the two, Comedy and Tragedy together), but they were marked down 50-percent. Overall, The Bead Shop is a very neat store and they are also very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

I don't consider myself a creative being nor do I find something like making my own jewelry pleasurable. I wasn't a child that owned the bead making machine and I sure as hell didn't grow up just to do the exact same thing. However, my friend insisted that we come here because she found it relaxing and fun. The store itself itself is impressive. There's a large amount of beads from all of the world on display, all ready for you to make the next piece of jewelry of your dreams. It's overwhelming for someone who had no initial desire to make something. Luckily, the family running the operation are more than happy to assist you in finding the perfect project. My friend and I made basic bracelets. They pretty much set you up for success, starting with measuring your wrist for the perfect length bracelet and giving you all the possible bead options to choose from. After that comes what I believed would be the most difficult part: putting the beads onto the string. I think I have decently good hand eye coordination, but the idea of taking a tiny bead and looping it with a tiny string didn't seem like something I'd do easily or well. However, the process went much smoother than I thought it would. I ended up with a blue bracelet and red Christmas tree shaped beads intertwined. At first, I wasn't a huge fan because in my head it looked like something a child would put together in their spare time. I've warmed up to it and I honestly wear it everyday along with a few other bracelets that I've received from various places. The customer service at A World of Beads was amazing. They're all passionate and knowledgeable about the product they're selling. Considering I do not have these qualities in DIY jewelry, it was comforting to know that the people working genuinely cared about my entry into their jewelry world. Zach was particularly helpful in the whole process and very entertaining to talk too. I learned a lot about all the services they have to offer. In addition to the walk-in make your own jewelry, they offer party packages. They're all BYOB too so it's not just for kids; they host showers, bachelorette parties, basically everyone! I'd be surprised if this wasn't on the top of someone's list to add to their festivities if they knew it was an option. Also, they can do same day jewelry fixing/cleaning. I was told of multiple times where they were able to save someone's wedding day by fixing a necklace, tiara, etc. In the words of my favorite eccentric Food Network host Guy Fieri, sometimes you have to slow down and take a look around. I did so (at the encouragement of my friend), and found that jewelry making is actually very entertaining. I can't wait to go back and make something new!

My boyfriend said, "I'm going to wait outside". The store is filled to the brim with beads. Beads of every size, every color, and every style. I especially liked the Swarovski crystal beads because they were extra sparkly! I think they put these beads near the window to draw people in and I guess it must have worked! The counter in the middle of the store has all of the hooks and clasps you need to make your own jewelry. They also carry a large amount of twine, wire, and any other type of string you could need. The class schedule is impressive. Lots of techniques for lots of applications. Some are solely dedicated to the Swarovski beads! When I moved to the east side of Cincinnati, I had hopes that the Eastgate Store was just as great. It was not, as least not in the Framing Department. When I visisted, a male staff member in the framing department was rude and condescending. He did not make me feel welcome, and didn't seem interested in helping me select and order a customized frame. I tried at least twice to make the conversation more positive, but it only resulted in me feeling frustrated and let down. I ended up buying an off-the-shelf frame. On a positive note, I did speak with a manager about my experience before I left. She listened, asked questions, thanked me for the feedback, and said she would address it. I later returned to the store and return the frame I purchased without any issues.
