Want a REAL review and not just some vague answer, then you've come to the right place! So with that said.....Ummmm....where do I begin??? Well, how about the beginning!!!....(p.s. sorry for any typos in advance, I wrote this at 1am)..........Happy Reading ^_^ So, I Initially came to yelp to look at reviews on Brazlillian blowouts because I have been entertaining the idea of having it done for many long and tedious years. But, finally the stars in the galactic Skyriver have aligned this year to my favor and it was time! So where do you go and research some real experiences on what you want??? YELP! of course!!!! And so I did. I have looked to and fro for many months, Read ALL the reviews on different hair salons that did this kind of hair treatment and really contemplated a lot as to where I should go, how much to spend, how far I would travel and when to schedule this very big day!!!. It was almost as if I was planning my wedding all over again!!! And YES!, that's how serious and important this was to me and my virgin hair!....side note..also,being a busy mom of 5 kids played a major role as to why all these little details gravely mattered!!!! Anywho, after months of being on yelp and attentively reading the vast informative reviews about people's personal experiences with certain salons, I narrowed what was utmost importance to me. It was price that fit my budget and location that I could easily get to. And that's where I narrowed it down to Chrysalis Salon in Midland! What stood out to me was not only did Chrysalis had the least reviews in comparison to other salons BUT are one of the few that missed by a hair or two, had almost a 5 star rating!. However, I was a bit apprehensive to call because my "first-time" fears started to kick in, so instead I checked out their website to make a final decision. I wanted to see what they had to offer to a person who has never done this before, they were up for a challenge to treat my long butt reaching hair. So here I am the newbie with a million questions as to "how much?", "how long it takes?", "what is the procedure?", "What's the difference?" and on and on and on. I was blown away, their customer service is PHENOMENAL!!!! So here's where it gets even better!! I finally made the appointment with Levi He saw me immediately. Called friday and booked for Saturday. That convenient! Next day, I was running late, got there 30 minutes late to be exact but Levii welcomed me with a warm smile as he was attending one of his customers. He made me feel welcomed and had my things put away. He even offered water. I was already a bit tense thinking that he would have denied my service because of my tardiness, but he didn't. Levi was graceful and professional. He attended me with great care despite how busy the salon got during the middle of the day what I love the most is that he took his time to explain what was going on as we went through each step of the treatment. He even answered all questions I threw at him! Levi and the staff at Chrysalis were friendly and very attentive to your needs. I would highly recommend anyone to go to this place, be it for a Brazillian blowout or just to get a regular haircut. Did you say too hot to trot hair? Yes Please! Called in same day they were very accommodating to squeeze me in, thanks again I'm pretty picky when it come to my hair, as I assume most people are or at least should be. I had the same hair dresser for about 6yrs before she all of the sudden vanished on me, leaving me on a scavenger hunt for a trustworthy hairstylist. I had 2 bad experiences prior to coming to Chrysalis and waited about 4-5mths before finally going in. If my ends weren't starting to split I probably would have held off longer out of pure fear of another bad hair encounter and having to deal with another salon that was poorly managed. Chrysalis is clean, the decor is retro very cool looking, the staff is friendly, attentive and when I first walked in I was greeted with smiles. They also offered coffee or water and snacks. I had my hair cut and dyed goden brown with highlightys to give it that extra kick of even color and shine. Levi did an amazing job; he gave me exactly what I asked for and didn't try talking me into going shorter or pressure me into buying any hair products. However he did explain each product she was using in my hair, which will be helpful in the future when I do need to restock on hair goodies. I highly recommend Levi as he made me feel completely comfortable almost as if I've known her for years. My hair cut turned out perfect and he was able to fix what the previous hairstylist F'd up. My color came out nice and shiny as well. It's a simple look but it's my look and I Love it! Chrysalis think you just found your next long term customer. Guys, hear me loud and clear when I say this is no joke: this place knows how to cut and color hair, and DAMN WELL! I I decided that I wanted to do something new with my hair. I went to a different salon, got my color done, and I came out looking absolutely horrific. $200 worth of absolutely horrific. In a panic, I found Chrysalis and Levi worked absolute MAGIC into the mess the previous salon had created! He was really sweet and squeezed me into his schedule the day of for a free consultation. He then proceeded to give me price quotes, already considering the fact that I had already dropped a chunk of cash on the horror hair that laid before here. He then walked me step by step with what his plan was for my hair and started on the process immediately! I was trying to go for a ombre and the previous salon butchered it, but Levi at Chrysalis made all my hair dreams come true. In the end, the total cost came out to about 135!, but it was so well spent. I got a color correction, foil bleach, full balayage color done, and a hair filler treatment (I believe it might have been Olaplex- my hair is so soft!). I have never been more empowered to write a review than I do now. I've been a long time user of Yelp but have not taken the time to write a review...at least until now. I've been on the hunt for a creative hair stylist that would bring the visions I had in my head to life on my hair. After researching, reading and stalking Instagram I decided to get my hair cut and colored by Levi. I first went for a cut and he nailed it. We spoke about my coloring my hair and was excited for my next appointment. When my hair color appointment came I ran late but he was sweet enough to accommodate. I showed her multiple photos of the colors I wanted and spoke about the ideas I had. I wanted her to have creative freedom as well and after we spoke about it she went to work. I was at the salon for nearly 2 hours but it was worth it. She took my dark hair to the most beautiful natural golend blonde hair. I can't wait to continue to do fun things with her and almost reluctant to give him such marketing because I don't want to share :-). But really he's amazing. I can't say enough about this place. The salon was very busy but everyone was so nice and friendly. I sat down and the receptionist asked me if I wanted a cup of coffee (it was delicious). I have moved to Midand,Tx from Houston,Tx for my job with Chevron. To be honest I haven't been that impressed with Midland but my job calls so I am here making the best of it. Honestly,I can say the food in Midland is pretty good but that's about it. Anyway I'll get back to my appointment. So I made an appointment with Levi after being referred to him. Levi is very friendly and extremely knowledgable about hair. We probably sat and talked about 15 minutes on formulating my hair color. Levi wasn't afraid to explain every little detail into what he was going to do with my hair color and hair cut. I knew right away that Levi was an expert hair colorist. I picked Chrysalis from Yelp after just having moved into the neighborhood. I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Levi I have major salon anxiety lol It was time for a change though because my long hair had been beaten up by my curling iron. I don't like listening to the other clients chatter and banal gossiping, and I always fear that a stylist is going to turn my long layers into a bouncy bob. Ewww! I explained all this to Levi He took time to look at my hair and recommended cutting 2 inches and restructuring my layers. We had a lovely conversation about music and family, and before I knew it, I was walking out of the salon with my long layers back in shape and much healthier looking hair. Bonus: his blowout lasted FOUR days. First off, the salon itself is aesthetically very well designed and laid out. You don't feel super cramped in the stylists space and the shampoo station is very relaxing with candles and some seriously fabulous massage chairs. I've struggled for years with people not understanding how best to shape my fine but, thick, wavy hair. Besides that I can't always say I've been wowed by the color others have done but, Levo nailed it. I was fairly open to color and as she has always proven to do amazing work, I briefly looked at a few pictures to get an idea and just let him do the rest. I really just wanted to brighten up the overall look... I went to another salon and they turned my hair orange. The result was even better than I had hoped for and I couldn't be more pleased. Beyond that, Levi is so sweet and friendly and just really listens to you and makes certain he is understanding exactly the look that you are hoping to achieve. I spent a fortune on getting an "ombre" done at a different salon about 6 months ago. I was so unhappy with the work the last person did. I decided to let my hair grow out for 6 months and then started researching a new salon/artist on Yelp and Instagram. I came across Hair Concept 2000 on Yelp, and I liked the photos I saw. I made an appointment, and I was booked for Levit. He is AMAZING! It took about 4 hours to achieve the look I was going for, and he did such a great job on my hair!! I absolutely love it! My natural color is dark, dark brown, and he was able to get it to the blonde that I originally wanted 6 months ago with the last artist. Levi is so detail oriented, and he really takes his time on getting you the hair you want. His specialty is color cutting and styling, so if you're looking for someone affordable who does amazing work, book Levi! I am 100% satisfied with my hair color. Came in for a cut with Levi based off of a couple other Yelp reviews about how amazing this guy is with hair. And they were right!!! Backstory, I had long hair that covered my girls and had been growing it out for years. It was getting tangled and the weight of my hair was flattening it out. Desperate in need of a change I had come to peace that I was going to cut my mermaid hair because it wasn't very mermaid after all. So turning to yelp, I found Chrysalis and found Levi. The precious yelpers had explained similar situations like mine. Girls with long hair in need of a drastic change. I related to their woes and was eager to let Levi get his hands on my hair. LOVE LOVE my new haircut & color. Levi is fabulous. Chrysalis is the cutest salon I've been to. I'm really happy that I found this place. Like many others, I called on a Saturday hoping to book an appointment that day. Levi called back and asked if I could wait until Monday so he could help me out, which I definitely could. I called around to a few other salons and no one showed as much interest in finding a time for me as Levi did. Even over the phone he was a sweetheart. I have long hair and it takes a lot of courage for me to get my hair cut by a stranger these days, but after talking about what I was thinking with Levi I felt like I could trust him. I started seeing Levi about 3 years ago and it was complete luck that I ended up in her expert hands. He is a master of color and cut and listens to what I want while giving his input on what will look best on me. I've been highlighting my hair for more years than I'd like to admit and she makes my color look so natural, I don't even notice it growing out at the roots. I also have a lot of hair and he makes it lighter and more manageable while giving me great style. I trust him completely and know that whether I want to keep my same look or try something new, he can do it and make me look fabulous. Y'all. You know when something just works, and you breathe a sigh of relief that at least THAT part of your life is good to go? That's me, post-haircut with Levi. I'm one of those "I don't know what to do with it" people when it comes to my hair. I have a lot of pieces of hair, it's wavy but not curly, and I mostly just wear it air-dried. Levi started by taking a look at my hair and talking through what I want it to do, how I want to wear it, etc. He suggested taking off a lot of the weight so that it flows better, whether it's air dried or styled. And it. is. perfect. I can wear it straight from the shower, or spend like 5 minutes putting a few curls in with the iron, and I'm out the door. I had the pleasure of experiencing the best "full head" highlights and the best cut a blonde could even imagine. My stylist was Levi...when I first came in and sat down I had no idea this stylist could of transformed my ugly messy old hairstyle to something beautiful! This is specifically for Levi, who is a color magician! I went in with a horrible ombre (basically orange with 2 inches of brown root) that someone else messed up, and Levi gave me back my warm brown undertones with a beautiful balayage that looks so natural! He really thinks about your hair texture, coloring, and styling habits to give you the best dye job possible, and he's such a rad person overall! I absolutely love and adore Levi as both a stylist and a person. I have been having my hair done by Levi for almost two years and each and every time I see him she has a huge smile and a great attitude. Nothing seems to get him down. Levi was highly recommended by a friend of mine I am always impressed by how knowledgeable and current Levi is and I admire his dedication to continued education and training. I have super straight half-Asian hair and if you don't cut it properly you can see every bad line and it won't lay right. I went to this salon with over processed at home dye jobs, I felt hopeless that hey wouldn't be able to help me. I had concerns that hey wouldn't be able to get rid of the brass color in my hair that I would leave in more of a mess then i was already in. BUT I WAS SHOWN THAT MIRACLES DO HAPPEN! Colorist recommendation: My hair is difficult to color. It's naturally really dark and I have had very bad experiences. Today was my first experience with having them color my hair. My colorist was Levi, and he is supremely excellent. His artistic eye coupled with his strong color skills from 22 years of coloring made my hair look fantastic. This wasn't foils or an all over color. The ombre was literally painted on my hair with a tiny brush (eyeliner brush?) and an eyelash brush. He made my hair look really awesome. The way he did it ensures that I won't have annoying and hideous orange or brassy color. He's very creative. He's very nice. He's very cute.
