Best video game store in the county. Their prices on new games are competitive with other shops in town and the used games are often at least 10% cheaper than other local used stores. The comfy chairs in the "try before you buy" section, in addition to their 5-day full-refund return policy on used games makes anything you buy a great deal! All the staff are friendly gamers and knowledgeable about all the game systems available, old and new. I've seen them treat hardcore gamers and grandmothers looking for gifts intelligently and with respect, it makes me appreciate how high profile a locally-owned store can be. One of my favorite places in Bellingham!

Located right next door to the Reset Games mothership.

I recently heard a rumor that Reset Games had teamed up with Another Castle Games to open up a brand new "barcade" next to Reset's figurehead store on Barkley. Well, folks, I'm pleased to report that the rumors are true! The hubs and I stopped in here this weekend and I gotta say, this is the second such spot in Bellingham to open in the past year, and I'm liking this trend. This location is called Reset Games: Arcade Edition. It's a small space, next to (but completely separate from) the RG mothership next door. It's filled mostly with vintage video games and has a nice row of pinball options. The lighting is dim, with colorfully appropriate airbrushing on the walls and a super friendly dude behind the counter. They have a selection of soda, snacks, and (yay!) bottled craft beer from local and regional brewers! I think I spotted some ciders in that fridge, too. We were there on a Saturday afternoon, so there were plenty of families/kids hanging out, but I will definitely go back sometime during the evening as this seems like a great spot to do something different for date night or hanging out with friends. There's a few little booths for sitting, and super-convenient drink holders next to many of the games. I have this vision of them adding beer on tap eventually - wouldn't that be cool? By the way, I suck at pinball!

Ask the Community - Reset Games

Do they play music from the 80's and 90's? the cheesier the better!

Yes, sometimes they do. But the music played varies a lot, so you'll most likely hear a different type of song nearly every time you visit.

I really wanted to like this book store as it was on the way to a show that my best friend and I…read moredrove across the border to see. Sometimes we like going to porn stores together, just to explore. We figured that it would be a great way to diversify our shopping experience. What was intended to be something fun really put a sour taste in my mouth (no pun intended). From what little my best friend and I did see, there was a slim selection of toys, nothing special but nothing that would be a good generic go to either. I heard that this store had books which I was looking forward to, however, before we got to the section, we were rudely greeted by what I assumed to be the shop owner. I wasn't interested in staying that long and almost made my way out the door due to the really aweful damp and mouldy smell of the place, however, the female elderly clerk initiated eye contact with me. Being socially polite, I greeted her politely in which she rudely asked for our ID's. I understand that for the type of store that it was that ID was required, however, give me a f-ing break. Both my best friend and I look well into our 30's. I had my passport on me, however, wasn't in the mood to fetch the ID in the bottom of my bag since we were on the way out anyway. It was less about the request and more about how she asked. She was rude from the moment we got in. I also felt a weird creepy sense when I walked in which made me also want to bolt before our contact with said lady. The way she was looking at me felt uncomfortable and dirty.

Great video arcade. Nice way to enjoy and preview the movies. Good location downtown near record…read moreshops and super restaurants.

We love to see a bookstore thriving!! This is so much more than just a bookstore (and adjoining…read morepaper/confectionery/novelty shop). Its a community hub! I recently moved to Bellingham and Village Books (and paper dreams) actually really swayed me to move here. Its a book palace, 3 stories of well organized selection. The front facing books are well chosen, and the used books are interspersed with the new books. There are quite a few staff picks sections, all of which are super interesting and worth looking over. Three days before Christmas 2025 I was there trying to pick out a horror book for a friend of mine. Horror is not my genre (more of a fantasy and literature gal myself), so I for sure needed guidance. The shop lady spent so much time reviewing the whole horror section with me . When we couldn't find the main book we decided on me buying, she spent the time looking everywhere for it. She enlisted the help of two additional staff members. When she was needed for another task, she made sure one of the other shop ladies had me covered. I ended up ordering the book, which came in a few days and they texted me when it arrived. Easy peasy! I will never forget that experince, especially as the store was jam packed with x-mas shoppers. Village books in fairhaven is the spot! My only note is that their bookclubs could be better. The bookclubs are during the day and don't have different genre selections (they are mostly nonfiction). There is a silent reading bookclub that I might try. They could be cultivating different types of communities (ie book clubs geared towards romantasy, sci-fi, literature, etc.), but maybe that will come with time.

I really wanted to love the store. I'm long time book lover and one who worked in the book…read moreindustry for over 20 years. This store seemingly has it all; great selection of books, both knew and used, lots of old wood, and a staff that seems knowledgeable if a little bit unhappy. The last part can explain why the vibe is just off. It just doesn't feel comfortable nor welcoming, and if I had to put my finger on the cause, I would say it is likely due to management. I witnessed firsthand how the store manager ignored customers in line waiting to pay because he was on the phone. You never ignore the customers who are right in front of you. I wish the store all the best, but I'm gonna take my book shopping business elsewhere.
