While going through the changes, it is not as inviting as usual. However the quality of the grooming is excellent! She did not feel comfortable with them. Dogs can be a great judge of character. The front of the store is odd, doesn't look like a grooming business at all. Dirty, smelly, and unkept. You cannot see the very hidden grooming area. What are you hiding?! I asked for a trim, nails done, and bath. My dog was almost unrecognizable when I picked her up. No big deal, they said she needed a shorter cut. Although our regular groomer would have done the work and brushed out some tangles. Ben even said "it's not like we don't want to do the work" um ya it was exactly that. Laura was complaining about a man's dog barking the whole time it was there and then she proceeded to tell me who he used to date and that he looks bad now! I was shocked at her behavior! Is she intoxicated? What did she say about us when we left? My dog had an uneven neck trim like they forgot to do the other side, she had a shave line to the skin on her neck that is very obvious (looks like a slip of the clippers) most of the shave is uneven and blotchy, and still had knots behind her ears! I messaged Ben, no response. This morning I noticed one whole paw is not trimmed! I messaged him to cancel our other appointment for our other dog. DONE! Never again!

She was extremely responsive, communicative, and took the time to explain help me learn about my Aussie. Mary did an incredible job gently cleaning my girl's overgrown undercoat out without rushing the process. You can tell she truly cares about the comfort and wellbeing of the animals she works with. She also took extra precautions with my Aussie's sensitive hips, which meant a lot to me. She looks healthier, happier, and so much more comfortable. They work around my crazy work schedule and have worked with me and my vet to use a special shampoo for Oscar. I had been searching for a mobile groomer because it's tough to take both pups at the same time and my rescue doesn't get along with other dogs and that can be an issue taking her. Shane was on time, so nice and gentle and their nails were done better than any of the groomers we've been to around here. My mastiff did so well with him despite it being their first meeting! I will definitely be using Shane for as long as possible and if you have any doggie anxiety issues or just want your fur babies to feel more relaxed at home you need to have Shane come out.

They said they would start with a bath and go slow with the blower and see how she does. They assured me they'd stop at any point if she got too anxious with the process. She did well and I picked her up a few hours later with her smelling great with a nice trim as well. She looked amazing. I am really happy with the staff at Cali Petz. Everyone is very kind and willing to talk about any concerns I had throughout the process. I will definitely be going back for dog grooming. It started very well in the beginning early last year. But, today I picked up my dog and she was shaved again! They had her in there for 3hours! Just to shave all her fur! :( I asked for a trim half an inch on the body (I don't want her shaved, keep her fluffy) shave the tummy, clean private parts, teeth cleaning and bath. I had her groomed to be ready for a photo and now she's shaven. I'm so upset! This is the second time they did this to us. And, I can't be understanding anymore. Last time was last November 2025. So she's, ready for the holiday festivities and photos. But, she was shaved! I had to have her wear sweaters all winter because she was getting cold and looked malnourished. And, they offer a free grooming for next time! Why in the world would I bring my dog to them again. No consistency! Both times it was the same person at the drop off. I have nothing good to say to this place anymore.

Initially, we arranged for daily walks for our two labrador retrievers when I was working full-time and my husband was recovering from hip surgery. But due to our busy lives and the excellent experience we had in the beginning, we have continued with a regular daily walk for our dogs since then. We trust them, and they really ease our load! We are concerned "parents". We center our lives around the dogs, because not only are they wonderful and loving family dogs, they are active, energetic dogs who need a lot of exercise. And because we have had dogs of all ages since January 2012 - young adult dogs, elderly dogs, and puppies - one dog with knee problems, and even one who had chemotherapy, we can attest that the walkers are good with all ages and conditions. We feel fortunate to have found Monterey Pet Care with its very dependable, friendly, and professional walkers. They arrive on time and treat our dogs and everyone they meet with respect.
