Nothing, not even the courtesy to tell me I was denied and for what reason. We would have given her the best home! With so much love. I talked to a few tech friends one who worked there and was told horror stories about this establishment. They discriminate on applications before even speaking to potential adopters. They do not communicate (obviously) and are certainly not a no kill shelter. Sadly for the animals this place is detrimental to saving animals, quite the contrary.

Impossible to find, right? Well, thanks to Rescue Pets are Wonderful (RPAW), we were able to find him EXACTLY that. The RPAW volunteer we worked with was nothing short of amazing, patient, and super helpful. With her help, we were able to find a healthy, happy, neutered kitten (all cats are fixed prior to adoption) that fulfilled ALL of my boyfriend's insane wants. We honestly couldn't be happier. We are exceedingly grateful to RPAW for connecting us with our new wonderful family member. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this organization if you are looking for a new dog or cat companion (or if you want to volunteer!).

(Stray Cat Strut) Huge thank you to Last Hope for taking in the sweetest stray cat that wandered into my care, strutting right by with her tail in the air in December. She was too much of a princess to get her dinner from a garbage can, or get a shoe thrown at her from a mean old man! Red Wing doesn't have animal control, and all local shelters were full. The foster-based Camp Companion rescue also never responded back after I filled out their online form...so the situation was getting desperate! Last Hope became my literal last hope, responding immediately that they would be able to place her in foster care after being vetted at a clinic in Burnsville. I was so impressed with their communication and caring--I can't recommend them highly enough! They really do have cat class and cat style!

A few days later we got approved, and we told that they were waiting to hear back from the foster for more information about her and to schedule a time to meet. We were very excited to meet her and have a new addition to our family. We didn't hear anything for a week and then she was removed from the website. I had to reach out and ask what was going on as there was no communication. Turns out that AFTER we were told we could adopt her, the foster decided to keep her. While I'm glad the she found her forever home, it was very heartbreaking, such a letdown and a giant waste of time. This experience definitely rubbed me the wrong way.

So not housebroken. I also needed to drive 40 minutes during my work day at 11 am for a meet and greet. Dog #2 was a dog from hell. This dog spread dog food all over the floor, dropped tennis ball in water, wanted to play fetch non stop. Chewed a toilet paper roll and harness. The dog would not settle down. They sent cbd chews and suggested giving it Benedryl so we could sleep and so could the dog in a kennel in our garage. They blamed lack of socialization. We returned the dog on Saturday morning. We have been wanting to foster again. Replying to Facebook pleas and even leaving a voicemail. We are obviously on some do not foster list. Their loss as we were great dog owners and fosters for the 2 we did care for.

I adopted a guinea pig from them that had parasites and a skin infection from it. They're super contagious and thus spread to the guinea pig I already had at home. Both guinea pigs are seniors and it's scary and awful they both are still undergoing treatment to keep them mite and lice free. Not only will they not help with the vet bills due to their "screw you for adopting from us" policy they won't take any of the guinea pigs that were housed near the one I adopted at the time to the vet. I'd be shocked if they currently don't have parasites as well. I was given a lame excuse that "nothing was noticed when cleaning cages" and they don't have the resources for it. Funny how they're supposed to have people who went to school for animal care there but someone like me picked up on that something was wrong so shortly after adoption. My guinea pig came in with another male. They were separated due to fighting and I saw that other male was adopted. By any chance if you adopted the guinea pig "Tot", he needs a vet ASAP. I asked that you be informed by the Tri County staff about the parasites and they won't do it. Their staff is also toxic and abusive. A woman named Sara Morales is vet tech there and will attack anyone on Facebook who dares to speak out about any bad experiences. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
