Completely unreliable and next level terrible customer support. When you need them for service they will repeatedly leave you high and dry, with zero apologies. When our ac was out in the middle of summer with me pregnant and two children under 3 in the house, I was told they would call back in a couple days with a service time. After faithfully waiting a couple of days, I didn't hear anything and called back. The woman was incredibly rude and told me they were really busy and could not give me a service date but she would call back in a few more days. I told her that if she still couldn't give me a date I would probably need to try to find someone else so that our family would have functioning ac. When I called back again later to ask for service I was told I was no longer considered a customer because I had mentioned having someone else look at our system and they were too busy to service non customers. I have used Res Con for many years. They replaced all of my air handlers and compressors. Also redid duct work. Bottom line is I was a loyal customer and have spent TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars with them. After the pandemic I called for service and was told I had a $100 balance and they would no longer service me. When I asked the date of the balance they would not tell me. I had no bills sent to me. We had regular servicing from Res-Com until in the latest service appointment technician falsified items that weren't broken to be repaired. Also provided couple of option to fix a dehumidifier both option ran into multiple thousands dollar, while we able to get it fixed by the company who installed it for $341. I preface this review wishing that I could have rated 0 stars. I used Res-Com for over 10+ years to service my HVAC system and maintained an annual service contract. Over the years, I also referred many friends and colleagues. Unfortunately, within the last couple of years, owner Steve Straface, Sr. slowly started turning over control of day-to-day operations to his daughter Pamela Straface-Leo. Regrettably, customer care and service have progressively deteriorated under her supervision. Back in April, 2020 (when the HVAC system is usually serviced to shut down heating and prepare the AC for the cooling season), Res-Com advised that they would not be able to come out due to the pandemic - totally understandable. On August 10 -- nearly 4 months later-- I received a phone call seeking to schedule the annual AC service; as we were well past half way through the cooling season and my system was operating properly, I advised that the service did not appear necessary, and requested a credit toward the next service contract. Res-Com's reply was that they would rather issue a refund. Seemed fair at the time. On 8/12, I received an e-mail from Pamela stating: "We are sorry to hear that you don't understand that due to the pandemic our schedule is very backed up and you expected a call from us at the beginning of the season. Most customers are adjusting accordingly due to these unprecedented times." THIS WAS A TOTAL DISTORTION OF THE TRUTH. IN THE PHONE CONVERSATION, I SIMPLY STATED THAT THERE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE A NEED FOR AC SERVICE SO LATE INTO THE COOLING SEASON. Her e-mail then stated that Res-Com determined that they would no longer service my HVAC system. When I called to get an explanation, Pamela was abrupt with me and said that I was "rude to their employees". I don't believe that questioning the need for certain services or the cost of certain items ought to be characterized as "rude" - I'm just trying to be mindful of costs. Bottom line, under Pamela Straface-Leo's management, this company has become too big for its britches - be advised that if you're one of the chosen few allowed to be one of their customers, you'd better behave yourself or you'll be kicked to the curb. read more

We had a really positive experience with this company. From beginning to end they were responsive, worked with us to respond to some unusual needs and were very thorough in their explanations. The phone contacts and in person contacts were characterized by conscientious, clear communication and helpful responses. The technicians who work for Rescom are very polite and professional. However, the management is rude and impossible to deal with. If you date question them on price, they become nasty. They have refused to continue to service my home because I was upset when they wanted to charge me for an after hours appointment at 5:30 pm after not showing up for many days prior. We had been working with them for at least 10 years at this point. when I called a other company, the owner couldn't have been more helpful and actually diagnosed the issue over the phone and didn't charge me. read more

Our entire family used Res-com heating for years. We used them knowing they were more expensive than other companies but they would come when you needed them. We had them check the heating systems for our homes in September. My son has an eight-month old baby and when we called because they had no heat, they said they could not come. We should have fired them 2 years ago when one of their workers touch some personal items in our basement. This is the "thanks" we get for being loyal customers. We have found someone much better, more reliable, closer to our homes, and definitely trustworthy. I don't write many reviews but felt that the way they handled this was absolutely terrible. I paid them $16,500 to install a new (Bryant) air handler and condenser. Crew of Jesse, Jorge and foreman, Al were good however their follow-up service is lacking. Like most contractors, after they get paid, you're put on the back burner. Since they were the only contractors to touch my system, I notified them of the new ceiling vents sticking and later on, the air handler filter door clip broken and 2 missing schrader caps on condenser valves but through their receptionist, Caitlin, told me that they no longer service my area. Uh huh...more likely because of my negative Angie's List review and now this review. I have tried many local HVAC companies, large and small. This is by far the best. Steve, the owner, came out two times, assessed the work and executed extremely well. His team from front office to repair/execution has been trained, is courteous, professional and talented. I am actually amazed. AC went down during the heat wave a few weeks back and I got Rescom's name and number from a friend in town after a few other companies had come and gone leaving nothing but a bill and more questions. I was going to call them the day after I received their number, however it was EXTREMELY hot that night, and as much as I don't like to bother anyone in the middle of the night for any reason (or the extra fees) I opted to call their emergency service number. No less than an hour later, their wonderful technician Paulie arrived at my house, full uniform, like it was the middle of the day, although it was almost midnight at that point. Not only did Paulie find what was wrong, that no one else was able to tell me, but he did it within a half hour and had my AC running. He was able to give me a detailed run down of everything; admittedly a lot went over my head, but I was able to sleep through the night. I paid my bill and off he went with a smile. The next day I called the office just to thank them and Paulie in particular and was greeted by a pleasant and professional office staff, although I didn't get to speak to him they were all too happy to relay my message, and since then I have become a contracted client. From a former business owner perspective it's obvious they run a professional and courteous operation. I don't know what the bad reviews are speaking about, but I guess some people are never happy, and usually when they have problems with everyone, they themselves are the issue. As for me, I've only written one other review on here and it was of another exemplary business, and it may be another few years before I sign in again because businesses like these are too few and far between. read more

Beware! I spent money on maintenance and they refused to come back!! They came for yearly maintenance on 4 A/C units. They made recommendations and we were going to do the required recommendations but couldn't do it that day (had to pick up my kids). I call back to have them come because one of the units wasn't working well and they refused to come back. I kindly said you don't have anything next week or the week after, as I just thought they were busy. They just kept telling me no we don't. I called back and they told me flat out to find another service provider. Come to find out... they've done this before!!! They keep the money from the maintenance and refuse further service on a different day because it costs them more money because the service is covered under the maintenance. Shocking!!! How often do you replace a furnace and air-conditioning system? Especially in a new house in a new area. We got lucky with Res Com. They were recommended by a plumber we know so we gave them a call and we couldn't be more pleased. Steve and his crew are professional, personable, efficient, and the price was reasonable. They installed the new furnace, removed the old one and all the associated pipes, found a fixed a gas leak that would have been dangerous if left. It was not part of the original quote. They also put protective covering on our new hardwood floors when they had to work upstairs. Before leaving they explained everything about the system and gave us a tutorial on the new thermostat. When they left, the area around the furnace was clean and neat. If you are in their service area and you need this type of work, I cannot recommend them more highly. read more

We bought our house in Westchester in 2015 and Res-Com was the previous owner's heating and air conditioning provider, so we kept them. The first couple of years were normal servicing business so those were ok. When we started having problems and needed repairs, we noticed that one problem just lead to another problem. We then suspected that the technicians must be doing something quite not right, which other reviewers also pointed out. Last year, one of our condenser broke down and they proposed to change it. We were not ready to pay for the cost of the equipment and the service so we postponed. When I needed a service this year for our heating, they told us they were busy until February. Then we noticed some whistling and water leaking issues and called them this January. They told us flatly to call another service provider because we were questioning their pricing. We have not; we only postponed the $6,000 airconditioning replacement quote they gave us because we were not ready for that amount. The receptionist was very rude, she hang up on me when I was asking an explanation why they were refusing to serve us when we had them for more than five years now. Very unprofessional. I will not recommend their service. We have been for Res-Com for quite a few years. Losing heat now and we need to always put the breaker on to put heat on. They sent someone who came but he said to fix the hole in the chimney and that he cannot do anything until that was done. It was a safety issue. We Overpaid someone and had the chimney fixed the next day. Res Com turned us away after that. The supervisor said no one can come to fix anything even though they were the ones who delayed the fixing. The supervisor said we only need them to fix things and were not consistent customers. She was unprofessional and nasty. How rude! It was a shock because we have relied on them for years. We were ready to pay to see why the furnace clicks off but she says to go somewhere else. Be cautious! If you plan to be steady customers you can still be told to go somewhere else. I've noticed in other reviews other customers have had similar issues. Look somewhere else. read more

Stay away! Res-Com did a repair on my boiler last year and I bought a service contract. Then, when there was no heat and the problem re-occurred, they said they were too busy to come out. I had to get another company to come out to restart the boiler and the other company said the part that was fixed was not installed properly and the problem might re-occur. Having trouble with your furnace of boiler while you are out of town is very stressful especially when there are other people at home. After calling several professionals to dealing with the problem, I chose this company to work on it. I spoke with the owner, Steve and was impress with his service commitment and the courtesy and diligence of this technicians. All so the rest of his office staff is right on top of it. I found this contractor to be both incompetent and dishonest. I contacted Res-Com to have a service technician perform routine maintenance on my heating unit. Rather then performing the routine maintenance, Res-Com's service technician disabled the unit, rendering it inoperable. He falsely claimed that the unit was inoperable when he came to my home. I know this was wrong because the temperature in my home when he came was 66 degrees, which was the same temperature as the thermostat setting. Res-Com's president, Steve Straface, quoted me an exorbitant price to replace the heating unit. I ultimately had the heating unit replaced, at substantially less cost, by an honest HVAC contractor. read more
