I tried to trim my beard and mustache by myself, but couldn't get a good image in my head as to what I wanted. I saw the glowing reviews of Requiem and saw the pictures of the interior, and thought it looked like a great place to get a trim. I'm so glad I decided to go in. Ricky was an awesome guy who is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about hair, both regular and facial. I needed to find a place to get my hair cut after moving to Nevada. After looking through Yelp and reviews, I am glad to have clicked on Requiem. Ironically, the negative reviews and Owner's responses lead me to give this place a try. I knew this was a no bull establisment and booked an appointment with him as soon as possible. The process of booking an appointment was easy, and when the day came I made sure to go early to give myself enough time to find the location (based on previous reviews of people not being able to find it). Suprisingly, it was actually easy and I had 30 minutes to spare. I had an early 10:30 appointment, but luckily Ricky took me although I had arrived at 10. I have never gotten a haircut from a proper barber, so I had many questions as to how to shape my hair and his thoughts. Ricky had no problems with my general needs and "I'm not sure" answers and gave me an insightful lesson about my hair while doing his work. He wasn't only just professional, he was incredibly friendly and genuine which created a comfortable atmosphere. The end result, was a perfect fade and information on what to do with my hair to repair my cuts from previous cuts I have been getting for 20 years from my friend's mothers (haha). Preface: I totally understand why barbers/stylists need no call/no show policies. We respect them and respect business owners. But in this case being first time clients, we were not a no call no show. We were trying to find the business itself. Had a very difficult time finding the place with construction all around his building, and his business being unlabeled. Being first time clients, we would think regardless of your policy there would be a little grace period considering this isn't a major surgery. It's a men's haircut. And also if the business isn't clearly labeled or difficult to find, being open to communicating with clients about where it is helpful. Called to find the location, apparently the business owner is ONLY able to send text messages per his voicemail. Never heard of that before with any barber/stylist considering they have to work with their hands. Was completely unavailable and uncommunicative for the duration we were trying to find the business. By then we were ten minutes late for the appointment, there are no signs in the building as to where it is located. And we were charged $43 to top it off and rudely told just "look at my Square App to reschedule". Went originally because of the great reviews, but left SEVERELY disappointed. Maybe this place gives good haircuts but when it comes to client retention, communication or general customer service Requiem Barber is the ACTUAL worst. To be clear, this was not a no call no show. We were trying to communicate to find the business the entire time. And were ten minutes late to find the UNLABELED business. And we were still charged. Absolutely RIDICULOUS! I walked in, and automatically, Ricky was personable and friendly, and wanted to get to know me before asking about my cut. It's very black,thick, and hard to blend. Usually a barber needs to cut my hair 3-4 times to really get the hang of it. Ricky killed it on his first try.
