Whelp, Found my new barber shop. I've been searching for a few years now and could never find a place that seemed to meet my needs, constantly. I was referred to Abbie Jo over at John Mario's and I couldn't be any more impressed. Very clean shop, everyone was in great moods. Everyone that walked in after me seemed to be a "regular". The staff knew everyone. That's the kind of vibe I've been searching for. I'm probably the worst barber customer ever- I have no clue what I want, I just know that sometimes my hair gets too wild and needs to be cut. Abbie Jo said "I gotchu" and went right to work. I called to see if this barber takes walk-ins. The first person on the phone said they prefer appointments. I told her my son is visiting from WA and had another appointment first then wanted to come in. I believe the first person handed the phone to someone else who was very rude, telling me the only appointment was at 2:30. I started to ask about just taking our chances as a walk in, but she had already hung up on me. I'm glad they don't take walk-ins because if they treat people like that on the phone, I don't want to see how they treat customers. read more

Covid Warning. Sometimes you get a sign from above. As usual I called for an appointment a week ahead of time. Showed up at 8:45am for my 9:00am appointment. Five minutes later another gentlemen showed up. John came over to me and said the new gentlemen was a more consistent customer and he had to cancel my appointment. (Oh, we forgot to put his name in the book.) While I was waiting I realized that John, despite my concern on my last appointment, has still done NOTHING in his shop in reference to Covid concerns. No spacing, partitions, acrylic and they push mountains of hair around the floor. And try getting a hair cut with a mask. Considering my age (75) and potential problems with an infection, I suddenly realized that John was doing me a favor with the cancellation. Classless but this time he got it right. read more

I went in to John Mario's a bit skeptical - you never know what you're going to get with any given hair salon. This was the first time I'd had my hair cut in Vegas, so I went completely off of online reviews (like this one). I requested a fairly challenging hair cut from my barber, Bill. I pulled up a photo of the style I liked on my phone and showed it to him. After studying it and talking it through with me, Bill went straight to work. Watching him work with the clippers was absolutely mesmerizing - you can tell the guy is a pro. I watched in awe as he shaped my raggedy mop into a style nearly identical to the photo I had showed him just 20 minutes earlier. The end result FAR exceeded my expectations! Needless to say, I highly recommend John Mario's - especially Bill. He's as talented with a pair of scissors and clippers as I've seen, and he can absolutely create the exact look you want. read more

She will use the words " for me..., I have to..... " make me feel like I have no idea what am I talking about how I want my hair to be styled. Been here 9-10 times over the last few years the last 4 times have been on somewhat of a schedule (every 4-5 weeks). The only reason i have not been coming here more often is because I moved to the other side of town. Because of my work I can't book any appointments out more than a few days and they have always gotten me in within 30 minutes of me just showing up. I have always gotten a great hair cut and great customer service,I am pretty reserved but they pull me out of my shell and have me talking for the full cut and shave/trim. Gentlemen out there if you have never had a strait razor shave have one done. It is so relaxing and your face is so smooth for days afterword. Stylist (can't remember her name) did a great job on my boyfriend's head shave - used 2 diff shavers and then a straight razor - and made his mountain man beard and moustache look sleek and sexy without taking off too much length. They only have 4 stations, one of which is John Mario's. It was pretty disability-friendly, my bf uses a cane and I use a walker and we are both large people - no problems finding close enough parking, no stairs to the entrance, chairs in waiting area were sturdy, bathroom was ADA accessible. read more

I've been to many of Henderson's barbers and I've always been disappointed with my haircuts. It really comes down to attention to detail... My past stylists will do a good job on the right side of my head but neglect the left side or I'll find areas on my scalp with uneven lengths. More times than not I've found myself cutting my own hair at home after an incomplete cut. Barber Bill is different. Bill took his time with my cut and cross-checked at every chance he could get! He used his comb to measure the exact length I wanted cut from the top. I was impressed. He even styled my hair such that I didn't have to rinse it out when I got home! My haircut is perfect! I have hair that will not allow anything less than a professional manage it. I've never been happy with a chain salon cutting my hair.
