There is nothing better than sitting in the sun on a warm Summer afternoon sipping a glass of vino and enjoying some live entertainment. Republica is the perfect place, they have a great outdoor courtyard where there is live bands over the weekends and food and drink specials during the week. I especially love the $2 oysters on Friday's, just perfect with a few glasses of bubbles and a nice view of the beach. Feel like getting active? Republica also organise weekly beach volleyball tournaments, there are games on Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Friday's at $20 per player, entry includes a free drink and slice of pizza. So get a group together, get competitive and enjoy a friendly game on the beach watching the sunset and listening to some tunes.

Got too excited. Ate before taking a pic

Good stuff. Would've walked past it thinking it wasn't really worthy of a visit. Ah. But surprised me they did. Great food hidden here and look out for their specials on the board inside. Had the chilli garlic pizza and the garlic prawn linguine with the beet root salads and the special's Jerusalem artichoke with mushroom soup. Oh so fabulous on a cold winters day. They had salt and pepper shakers on the table. I felt I had to throw them away from the table. Throw it across the room and declare this restaurant doesn't need anymore seasoning! Its damn good I tell ya! Prawns are so velvety and smooth. Let it be my carpet man.

Although there is no table service at this establishment on St Kilda Beach, at least it is much, much better than the cafe closest to St Kilda Pier. Avoid coming to this establishment during the busy lunch rush on the weekend as you will be waiting your while for service; however in saying this: ordering the roast lamb pizza and receiving it (and being able to eat it without feeling too overly hungry in the end) within half an hour is an accomplishment in itself over the weekend. The prices are questionable, however we are probably paying for a premium beachfront location to eat instead of up nearby Acland Street. The pizza is worth it, although you will be able to find better value in Melbourne. The staff are fun and the music is a bonus during the weekend; not to mention the beautiful ambience and water views; extremely relaxed where you could just take the day in. The seafood is scrumptious, and the wine list is worth a look as well: just for a simple glass of red. Would I return here? Yes I would, maybe for breakfast at the beach on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning next time.

From the moment you walk in, there's a buzz that makes the place feel alive without being overwhelming. It strikes a great balance between upscale and relaxed, making it perfect for a date night or a fun evening out. The warm lighting and eclectic design add to the charm and make you want to linger. Service was friendly, attentive, and well-paced throughout the night. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu, checked in on us at the right moments, and made the whole experience feel effortless and welcoming. Every dish we ordered was excellent -- not a single miss. We started with the Cauliflower & Mozzarella Croquettes, which were crispy on the outside and perfectly creamy inside. The Grilled King Prawns were flavorful and cooked just right, while the Kingfish Ceviche was fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The Stracciatella & Heirloom Tomatoes was simple yet outstanding, letting the quality of the ingredients shine. For mains, the Duck Breast was cooked perfectly and full of rich flavor, and the Lamb Backstrap was tender and well-seasoned. The Pecorino & Ricotta Ravioli was comforting and delicate, while the Seafood Linguine stood out with generous portions of seafood and a beautifully balanced sauce. The Honey Glaze Carrots were the perfect side -- sweet, savory, and executed flawlessly. Overall, State of Grace delivers on every level -- ambience, service, and food. An exceptional spot that lives up to the hype, and one we'd absolutely return to on our next visit to Melbourne.

It's the decor from extravagant chandeliers to deer heads with pearl necklaces; it's beautifully eclectic. I had an old fashion and it had the right mix of orange and bitters. I also ordered the burger which was decent and the fries were hot and crispy. The night I visited there was a live singer playing tunes. Service was quick and friendly. Even the ordering is eclectic as you order electronically (QR) pasted to a library book. This place is worth a visit.

No one informed us about any policy. We paid for the bottle with 5% service charge which I do not think they deserved. We had a sudden work call at 11.30pm and grabbed the bottle to go, only for the staff to chase us to the front of the bar to inform us that they do not have a takeaway license. For christ sake, we already had bought the bottle!! Though it's alright, we respect policy. They highlighted that they needed to keep the bottle in the establishment. We asked if we could come back and finish it. They said they would keep our bottle. We rushed back to our hotel (Marriott- 200m away for the call). When we returned at 11.58pm, they had already thrown our bottle away. Unbelievable! They were quick to receive our money but equally quick to throw our experience out the window. No doubt, we returned almost at closing times but throwing our wine before closing time - if you wanna go by the book, that is still not your closing time. When we raised our grievances to the staff, she said she told us about closing time at 12 midnight. However, we emphasised that she should have let us know about the takeaway policy and license. Had we known, we would not have ordered a bottle. She looked at us blankly and simply replied "feedback received, but we do not allow anyone in after 12, so you have to leave". Quite honestly, ChatGPT / Claude / Grok could have conveyed more empathy. I am not a VIP customer nor am I a high spender. That being said, I value places with a human connection and empathy, and would regularly visit such places with joy and happiness multiple times. This place is not one of them. For this reason, I will never visit again. If you think likewise, and value authenticity and a true Aussie welcome, you would not visit this place. I hate to give negative reviews but please spend your money elsewhere.

They host regular Melbourne dj's as well as bringing in some internationals from time to time for their in house events. Circus Bar has recently undergone a hige refurbishment and the results are nothing short of impressive, spread across two levels Circus has the main room downstairs complete with rich red walls, chic circular booths and of course a decent dance floor. Upstairs is the balcony that has been fitted out in a way that resembles the beach bars in Miami. The balcony has a second bar as well as another dj booth and looks out over the top of Chapel Street and Commercial Road. Has a very weird mixed crowd of people which you never would of thought existed. The venue is very nice looking and plays the exact same music as revolver as they both have the same resident DJs. The rooftop is beautiful but they do close some of it off for functions. The only negative points of the venue are the crowd (essentially the revolver rejects, me being one of them at the time ) and gets very overcrowded being a small venue. Only time I would visit is when everything else is shut as it closes around midday Monday. On the positive super friendly staff and security, great music and nice looking venue.
