I would give Republic Services 0 out of 5 stars if I could. Do not use this place. It is such a pain. When they do pick up trash, things work well. However, there have been too many issues with them not picking up the trash, a service that I pay good money for, for them to be worth the $$$. Also, they are absolutely impossible to get a hold of. I have spent hours trying to reach a customer service person for very simple request. A big issue with Republic Services is that their website doesn't list specific phone numbers for specific customer service concerns, so everybody gets roadblocked trying to ring the same number and then get transferred. Their messaging "chat line" is just AI, but you can reach a real person through it. However, the real person just copies and pastes preformatted replies and rarely provides helpful information. When I am actually able to reach a representative, they are very nice and helpful, but it is such a pain to reach them in the first place. read more

First of all, I waited for over an hour before finally hanging up the phone for customer service. This is the only place we can get garbage service from. So they have a monopoly. This is so sad that we have to put up with the rudeness. The drivers rule what goes on. They will not even give me garbage service to my house. All my neighbors get the service and the place right next door does. Not me. I had service at my home a few years ago and they came to my house, but now they will not. I see the negatives but when i go in they are very helpful and courteous. The recycling is open on saturday for awhile so that's VERY helpful for me. They haven't missed a pick up since my last review. I haven't used them for anything else so I can't speak to that but, for basics, works for us. read more

REPUBLIC has to be the worst of the worst. I signed up for auto payment on my card. Now REPUBLIC has not taken any payments out for 3 months. So today they took away all 3 of my cans. Called them, nice lady answered to had to put up with my outrage. I apologized to her. But even though they TOOK the cans today, for some reason they cannot deliver new ones until NEXT Monday. If I had some way to do it, I would just take the garbage to the dump. They are a monopoly and I understand they have a commercial services lawsuit going. I think this waste company must put all their money into hiring nice ladies to receive enraged phone calls because they don't put it into their service. Setting up garbage service? Haha! Hope you don't actually have garbage because they don't deliver the cans for at least a week. After over a week they will not know where you live and maybe leave one can when you've ordered 4 cans. Oh and that would be the recycle can and they won't pick that up for two more weeks! Standard! Oh and make sure the lid is all the way down- somehow they know precisely when they aren't because you will get charged extra on your bill. Wish I could leave no stars. Heaven help you if this is your only option for garbage service. They will ding you for extra money if your can lid is an inch open, but use any excuse to get out of service with no credit to your bill. They are run as corrupt as if Tony Soprano is in charge. First off let me start by saying I have been using republic for decades. They are the only garbage / trash company in our area and they have a monopoly. Every Sunday we take our trash cans out to the street before we go to bed. This last Sunday was no different. Noticing the trash still had not been picked up yet. Monday afternoon my wife dragged the full trash can back up to the house to try to see if we we could squeeze another bag in it. A few minutes later I took it back out to the street and called republic. They said they were sorry about the trash cans not being emptied (even though both of my neighbors cans had been emptied) and scheduled a delivery for Wednesday. Wednesday about 4:PM called back. The girl I talked to said she would check with her supervisor and see if she could reschedule another pickup. She said the driver had made notes on the account that my trash can was not out at the road so he could not empty it. This is a blatant lie. The trash can has been sitting on my street since 7:PM on Sunday except for about 30 minutes or so on Monday night around 7PM when my wife brought it back up to the house. The customer service rep I spoke to on the phone said she could not guarantee our trash would be picked up until the next delivery date because the driver said the can was not at the road. If I had another choice I would not use Republic service because of this. I have since done some research and found this is a common practice with this company because they do not have to compete in rural areas. There are literally hundreds of complaints about this same kind of incident. For the record I have never been late on a payment. read more

I always paid seven dollars for a full container of secure shred. Now that Republic has taken over, they charged me seven dollars for only a small bankers box which they had to handle themselves instead of me putting it directly into the bin as in the past. This creates even more human contact despite their Covid restrictions. Bad bad customer service read more

It is regretful that this company has blighted the landscape of America for our garbage service. Cities have outsourced it to this corporate unfit for the overall benefit of our communities, residential neighborhoods and business commercially developed areas. Their workers are just numbers in the machine to feed the top level and the mid management the churn and burn of customers and employees alike. What is there to like about this company? That they exist without competition for the most part? Sadly, I find them deficient. Maybe I have a wish for local accountability not corporate hide and lack of concern. I agree with Frank V and Christine T, and Jerry M this is the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Once again they have failed to pick up my trash. This has happened several times and when I call to see what happened, all I get is "we'll see if we can get to it today or tomorrow. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! Very disappointed with our service and having to deal with some very disrespectful drivers. The customer service reps are very nice and as helpful as can be, unfortunately the managers don't do much to fix the problem and just make excuses for their drivers inappropriate language and behavior. This is a terrible company! We receive unjustified and random charges on our bill every single month! When we call they just say tough luck! I have never been so furious to watch a garbage driver DROP my can and then put my trash back in the can when the garbage truck is CLEARLY right there!
