They send out two guys to do a free estimate for us within an hour of contacting them! Not only did it end up costing us less than other companies, they were able to get to it the same day. We didn't have to sort through the rock or anything. They came in with all the tools necessary and had the area cleared in 2 hours. Both guys were really nice and down to earth. The timing, pricing, work ethic, and job quality were better than I expected. This is absolutely a company I'd support and we'll be hiring them again for the rest of the yard come spring. read more

Very nice fellas, I very much liked them as people- however they damaged my floor, passage way through my kitchen and front door entry removing my fridge. They did not plan around preventing damage nor did they factor the cost to repair these items for me into the price. I asked about the damage and they just shrugged it off. So unfortunately they get an honest review about the way they left my home. I still think they should have business but they need to consider the entirety of the job and not leaving a place worse off than they found it! read more

After it was clear the driver couldn't maneuver the truck without blocking access to the whole building, something people moving into and out of my building do all the time, I had to cancel. I observed a unit of GI Junk Removal illegally dumping trash in West Salem at the end of Patterson St NW on November 24th, 2021 a bit after 2:00 PM. This is completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and environmentally unfriendly. I was appalled when I saw two men in action of dumping unwanted trash from their truck bed and trailer. The Facts - You Judge: Last month I hired GI Junk Removal to remove a houseful of furniture and personal belongings along with the contents of my garage and backyard since I had sold my home. After a personal walk-through, the owner, Matthew Calhoun, had provided a written estimate of $4,570 to cover 5 trailers + 6 hrs. for labor. After their 1st day of work, the price was increased to $6,700. Yes, some furniture & belongings were added, but 5 large furniture items were removed. So I agreed to the $6,700 for 8 trailers + 6 hrs/labor in order to finish the job. The FINAL PRICE, however, ended up being $9,375, which covered 6 additional trailers + labor + $400 for a hazardous waste charge. How does the price go from 5 trailers to 12 trailers? Even after the work started and all items were surveyed in the house, the estimate went from 8 trailers to 12 trailers. I was notified of the 1st price increase but not the 2nd until my sister called on my behalf and was informed by Matthew of the increase. BUYER BEWARE! read more

GI Junk clearly demonstrated that the nice sounding values on their website just aren't valid when tested and you are much better off finding one of the multitude of other junk removal services. We needed an estate cleared after the passing of a loved one prior to a home sale and worked directly with the owner to estimate the job with multiple conversations clarifying what GI Junk would and wouldn't do and scheduling the service. The final bill was MORE THAN 2X the original estimate with the GI Junk team telling us they'd walk off the job if we didn't pay. An updated estimate 50% more than the original was provided which we agreed to since we only had days until closing on the property and didn't have time to schedule a different company. When they finished the final bill was 50% higher again. This didn't include some extra items found during the process that they said they didn't have time to remove because they had other jobs and just left at the house. All of this despite hours of work removing items from the house that were in the original estimate to try to LOWER the bill. We had multiple conversations directly with the owner to clarify the situation, explain our experience, and offer them a chance to amicably resolve the disconnect and they refused just saying essentially "even though we don't really understand how it was so much that's what the bill said so you have to pay". Evaluating their value statements of Integrity (we are protecting our bottom line and not standing by our estimate or even what we think the job should have cost), Respect (we're walking off the job if you don't pay), Exceptional Service (here's the bill, it's not what we told you but write the check and despite trying to work this with us directly, go ahead and leave negative reviews if you have to but we aren't fixing this), Mission First (the next job is more important than finishing this job), and Compassionate Approach (too bad for you about you being in the middle of grieving and that you're out thousands of dollars but we'll tell customers we've tried to fix our process after you) they missed on every level and showed those are just words on a webpage that filters out bad reviews. read more

I called J Dog because of the previous reviews I'd read on Yelp. I described what I needed removed and Matt quoted a price. We scheduled a time for pick up and in the interim I added to my pile. Two days before the scheduled pick up day I received a reminder text from Matt. The morning of our scheduled day, I received a text notifying me that they were on their way. They arrived exactly at the appointed time. Tony and another gentleman (I did not get his name) worked diligently loading my stuff to the trailer.
