When I requested a quote, they came to take pictures, then got back to me in a couple days with a very reasonable quote.

I'm relatively new to the scrap game. I just know that I got a lot of junk around the house and I…read moregotta get rid of it. I donate what I can do Goodwill, but other stuff simply isn't donation worthy (exercise equipment, for example, can be a liability issue for goodwill). If I call places like 1-800-GOT-JUNK they charge a nominal fee or at least 100 bucks or so in order to haul away your stuff. I had a couple old DirecTV antennas and some old weights that some old roommates had left at my house when they moved out. So I broke down the antennas the best I could and loaded up my car with the scrap metal. The yard itself was open, clean and easy to navigate. I had expected to pay nominal rate rate to drop off my stuff (I understand that there usually is a charge for stuff like old CRT monitors, AC units, refrigerators, or anything that might have toxic stuff inside), but for my scrap metal they PAID ME MONEY! The entire process took just a few minutes and I walked away with them giving me cash for my troubles. I understand that the rates they pay for the scrap metal will vary based on market rates, but i was happy enough to be rid of junk without driving far or paying a bunch of money. The extra cash in my pocket was simply icing on the cake.

The entire staff of this particular bottle drop has an antagonist and counterproductive attitude towards the population that they serve. As a disabled veteran I expect that policies that do not serve a viable purpose can be modified for certain situations. I presented this argument to them, and they stubbornly doubled down on a vague policy which is not posted, and demeaned me publicly. The customer service philosophy exhibited by this unit is unacceptable, rude and demeaning. It's not worth the effort.

I hardly ever leave 1 star reviews but this place barely deserves a single star. The female staff…read moreis always rude (I've never had a poor interaction with male staff). I come here 1x weekly and I bring my autistic client - they are by NO means accommodating and they are extremely smug. The machines are always broken. Today we arrived - line was out the door, which didn't surprise me. However the counter where they hand count was down and they also weren't taking plastic. When trying to speak the an employee about what's going on they barely give you the time of day. The staff member I spoke to just kept walking as I was trying to ask what was going on. Less than impressed with this location. I'd rather go to a busier location than one that always has busted machines and attitudes.

Often abbreviated as OBRC, this is a group entirely made up of beverage distribution and retailing…read morecorporations. This is the company that handles every facet of bag return based bottle return in Oregon and they're the custodian of all the collected bottle deposit. Green bags dropped off into the bottle room at a grocery store in the Portland area gets hauled to OBRC's facility in Clackamas/Damascus. The reason for 2 star is their frequent miscounting biased towards shortage, drop sites often being clogged up and having to return at another time when it's not full and customer service that is very difficult to get a hold of. They make up all kinds of excuses and generally blame the customer for issues like saying they didn't tie the bag properly so the cans fell out at the knot. My own experience is that even bags made all correctly, they often count wrong and usually in the direction of shortage. So, my advice to you is manually count the number of cans going into the bag every once in a while if you care about getting what you're owed. You may have one bag that is dead-on, but next bag short by 15, so don't assume that one bag being accurate means they're all accurate. During the COVID19 pandemic, grocery stores were pardoned from having to do bottle returns. During this break, many grocery stores in Portland opted-in for a program operated by OBRC where a drop-off room is setup on the store property. The law allows stores who sign up for this program to lower the amount of bottle returns they have to do in store to 24 down from 144. The bag and drop operated by OBRC is great in idea, but you're at the full and complete mercy of OBRC once the bag is dropped off. While they claim that counting accuracy is a maximum deviation of two containers per bag, it often deviates outside of this and more often biased towards shortage. Keep in mind they get to keep whatever that isn't redeemed, so when they miscount a few containers per bag, they profit massively. While you can call customer service, it is extremely difficult to actually get someone on the phone, and unless you get a person on the phone live, you're out of luck as they don't return or take weeks and weeks to respond to voicemails, if at all.

This was not clear on Yelp or anywhere else. You cannot return bottles and cans here this is one of…read moretheir large recycling facility's I guess.
