I had two bags of trash to be picked up today along with my container. Truck came by today and just picked up my container. I called Republic to find out what was going on. They told me that I only had container pickup service. I had no idea. They said this was negotiated with the city. The city is not there customer. Such poor service!! I am going to find another provider that has better service. Later that day, I was trying to call M&M trash pick up to get pricing from them. When I made this local call, the person answering the phone said this is Republic trash service. I told her I was trying to reach M&M. Come to find out Republic bought this market from M&M. She asked me to explain my issue. I told her and she provided a simple, no extra cost solution. Republic will simply provide me with a second trash container at no additional cost to me. I called SIX TIMES. No one answered the phone. It is Monday, May 4, 2026. I was on eternal hold EACH and EVERY time I called. Never heard a human voice. My Mother's house has been sold, and my Realtor asked that I cancel service so the new owners can get service under their name. Horrible, they won't cancel my service, I have called 4 times and when they say it's cancelled apparently cancel my request and if that wasn't bad I haven't used their service because the trash cans are in my ditch waiting to be picked up they are empty and have been for over a month, I called today and there was no record of my request, even though I have emails to back it up and told me that it was a miscommunication, how cancel my service means just that. Their customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with, their drivers break the lids to cans and they want you to pay 50.00 for a replacement can. I have 3 cans when I originally ordered 1 but instead of canceling they just keep billing me and sending a new can. I have requested countless times to pick their cans up and they won't even do that. read more

They bought out my previous pickup service and have had nothing but trouble ever since. They missed pickups, then began charging outrageous fees for their service. I called their support line; big mistake. On hold for 20 minutes, got a foreigner who was rude and eventually hung up on me. I cancelled service and they kept on charging me for pickup, AFTER they picked up my trash bin! Then added a bin pickup and late fee. I got a letter from a collection agency which I answered, politely, with all the facts. I signed with Rumpke and haven't had a lick of trouble. read more

My first bill for two 95 gal cans was $243. What they don't tell you is there are 2 18% fees for "fuel/environmental recovery" that apply to every single penny you send them. Just the fees on my first bill were almost an extra $70. When I called in to dispute the bill, it took nearly an hour of trying to even speak to a person. They told me they would review the initial setup call to determine if I was informed about the fees and call me back. 4 days later I never received that call, so I called back in again. They told me THE SAME THING, that they would review the call and call me back. I didn't let them, instead they waived one delivery fee, which nearly negated the fuel/environmenral $70 fee. Look for other options, this company is awful and will rake you over the coals on fees. Also insult to injury, the pickup truck slung garbage all over the street from my cans and several neighbors. read more

The trash services I received were great. Trying to speak to a customer service rep was terrible. The first person heard my question and immediately sent me to the after service survey, the next person transferred me to an invalid number, the third person hung up on me before I even had a change talk to them. Every year, republic service increases my bill. In May of 2024, I was charged $61.39 for 3 months of service. In May 2025, they wanted to charge me $94.86 for 3 months. That's an increase of $33.47 and 55%. That is outrageous and a clear example of corporate greed. I have been a loyal customer since 2003. You don't care about your customers. They offered me $2 off per month. That is pitiful and I canceled your services. I was told I had to pay for all of May, but they could pick up my cart any day for $47. I want services up until the day I am forced to pay obviously. It doesn't cost your company $47 to pick up a trash cart. I will be sharing my review to every source possible. read more

After missing my entire street for two weeks over new years and Christmas they finally came to get the garbage. They explained they had a new driver who missed us last week. They even came on a day they weren't supposed to be open. Review updated to only 3 stars because it's still ridiculous that I had to call like 5 times to get my trash picked up. Missing my can is one thing but missing my entire street and half the route down georgetown road is something else. Republics customer service is good but their drivers are hit or miss. read more

The only thing they have going that earned 2 stars is even though the people on the phone will lie to you they are at least nice about it! The switch to republic has been horrible in the couple of weeks since they have taken over. my recycling bin has not been picked up even once and has been on my curb now for over 2 weeks. I have called twice now last week and again this week to be told they will get it tomorrow. I have zero faith they will come tomorrow I was lied to last week. 11 years ago we added recycling to our normal trash service to help do our part and recycle this was an extra charge along with a second bin rental. i asked that they remove this from my bill and was told that its now mandatory for everyone which again feels like a lie since half the people on my block only have 1 bin. I know my neighbors and i know that they only have 1 bin and don't wish to recycle. I can clearly read on my bill where I'm being charged for the 95g bin but yet the lady on the phone tells me that its mandatory charge. How can you force only 1 person on the block to continue to pay for a second bin that you wont pick up? if its mandatory shouldn't every house on the block have a second bin? I just want them to pick the recycling bin up and take it away. I get that they just have taken over the route but missing the same recycling bin 2 weeks in a row even after ive called 2x is not making your customers happy. read more

Over the 3 years we have had Republic Services trash/recycle pickup our fees have almost tripled. While they are pretty much consistent on pickup, that is where my positive feedback ends. We received a bill in which our fees were raised again. My husband has spend 2 1/2 hours on the phone in the past two day trying to speak to someone to find out why. When he finally reached customer service they said they didn't know and couldn't look it up. They never notify customers in advance of a rate increase, nor are they responsive to any attempts to reach them for reasons other than the trash not being picked up. Nor is the website helpful. Unfortunately we don't many options in our area for trash pickup. My advice - explore other options if you have them. read more

Worst company I've dealt with in a long time- maybe ever. They are so overpriced, both in monthly charges and all the extra charges too. They charge to pick up an item (like a toilet), they charge $60-80 to drop off trash cans, they charge $60 to PICK UP trash cans when you cancel. RIDICULOUS. The competition in my area is much cheaper per month/quarter and doesn't charge for all those extras. My only advice is never do business with them if at all possible. I stupidly did not check around with the competition in our area when we moved. My mistake. They are snakes. read more

This company is awful. I put out four bundles of cut up trees trimmings that were cut and tied up in 4 foot lengths per the policy for larger items. These were not picked up and I was told that I needed to schedule a bulk item pickup for an additional $60. In addition customer service claimed I was lying about these tree trimmings being cut, bundled and tied up. What am I paying for exactly??? There are plenty of other waste companies and I plan to contact them. read more

Terrible, sketchy company! After suffering through years of steadily rising rates, subpar service (automatic pickup trucks would leave trash cans scattered on the street, often on their sides and sometimes broken or cracked; company picks up no yard waste bags or items not in cans, and charged us extra for an additional trash can for a year without ever telling us we would be charged), we finally canceled service and went with Rumpke. They had the audacity to charge $99 for "removal" of our three cans, and an additional $100 for prorated services (even though we canceled at the beginning of the month prior to our next quarter, they said "cancelations only go through at the end of the month"). Still doesn't explain why they charged us almost a quarter's fees for our "final bill"! Stay far, far away from this company. Terrible customer service as well. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!! Go to Rumpke!!! I would give zero to negative stars if I could...they should pick themselves up because they are garbage. Price gauging at its finest plus horrible customer service. They charge $150/per quarter vs Rumpke $65, they charge $55 per bulk item vs Rumpke $10, they charged me $56 to pick up my three cans when I cancelled!! Reason I cancelled: they were going to charge me $55 per roll of carpet to haul away when i got new floors (PER ROLL OF CARPET!! Had at least 10, 4 foot rolls) OR, I could rent a mini dumpster for $500. The city charges $75 for a mini dumpster so the price gauging there is astonishing. Not to mention I was on hold over an hour to be told these insane prices. Do yourself a huge favor and call Rumpke before committing and compare price and service. I am willing to edit this review if Republic wants to reimburse the $56 they charged to pick up cans after cancelling! read more

I can't imagine worse customer service. At least half of the time, service is delayed. And good luck getting through to a representative to address the constant issues you will have with this company. Use any other option if it is available. The fact that this company is still in business tells me that some customers simply have no other options. Revision: I was finally able to get through to the local office and was informed that the "driver must've just gotten in a hurry and skipped that street." They have agreed to pickup tomorrow, who knows if that will happen, but I appreciate the effort. I also appreciate the response from corporate, so I have upgraded the review from 1 to 3 stars. That said, due to the constant issues with what should be a simple weekly service, we are seeking a replacement provider. Update: They still never showed up. It's unbelievable. Switching today. Terrible all the way around. Constantly adds bogus fees to the bill from fuel charges to service interruption fees. What the heck is service interruption fee? They are already coming down the street. Me being late on a payment I get but to charge a late payment fee of $5 is one thing and then to charge u $35 on top of that just to resume service is extortion. What are u resuming? My being late does not stop ur truck or interrupt anything. U just skip my house until I pay! It's less work. I put trash out about every other week but I'm getting charged for every week. If u going to charge an interruption fee then I expect a rebate for those weeks I don't need anything picked up and a rebate of the fuel charges that I didn't use. Don't be fooled by the initial service start up price. It will quickly escalate. Worse than dealing with Spectrum Cable. read more

On the most recent skipped can incident, the employees claimed they did come by house but the can wasn't out ---a blatant lie. Too bad there's little competition for this type of service. This waste service in Lexington KY will change "rules", neglect to notify customers then refuse to pick up waste that suddenly does not comply with the rules. Example: a bulk waste truck usually comes at 6am to pick up yard waste such as lawn bags full of leaves customers have raked and hauled to the end of driveways on the evening before morning pickup. Then suddenly, on the morning of trash pickup the regular trash is emptied but bags of leaves are left in driveways over Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays all throughout neighborhoods that are forced to use this service. When calls are made to determine why our bags of leaves were not picked up as they have been for the past ten years, we are treated rudely and some are hung up on! Eventually we are told we must now call on the eve of pickup to arrange for "bulk pickup service" and pay the extra fee. I'm already paying over $259.00 for this terrible garbage pickup with terrible customer service. Do not move to the Clay's Mill Area, Lexingtonians! And make sure you know who runs your waste service. Do not use Republic Services. read more

These people are the WORST. They quote you a price but then it goes up EVERY month. Then you end up getting 2 Invoices which are wrong. So you call and they tell you TWICE you only owe $50. Are you sure?? Then they say oops wrong account and person and property address! They are idiots. Next day call again to get our price back down. I switched to Republic Services because of the cost saving. I never had any issues with the pick up service itself, where I did have a problem was with customer service over the phone. I called in to cancel because I found an even less expensive service provider since RS increased my rates. I called to cancel and was asked "If we can match the rate, will you stay with us?". I said "yes". Then they told me it would take 24 hours to see if the price match would be approved and they would get back to me. I went 3 days without hearing a word. I called back in and they offered the same price match, but with instant approval. I declined due to poor customer service already received. I was then informed that in order to cancel, they would have to come out and pick up the receptacle I was renting from them and charge me a $40 fee for the pick up. I asked (since there is a local office in my city) if I could drop it off myself and save the fee and was told "No". The only way to cancel is to pay the fee and have them pick it up themselves. Not happy with that policy! **UPDATE** Received a private message within a couple of hours of posting this review and corporate said they will credit my container removal fee. I will update the stars to reflect a more positive review once I receive the final invoice with the reflection of the credit. Raised rate due to extra fees (fuel surcharge). I was not informed and found out that my account was past due since I auto pay through my bank. Neighbors did not go up. Initially I was told Recycling was required. Called to ask about lowering bill and was told I did NOT have to have recycling. I was also told the fees are standard. Why haven't my neighbors been assessed these fees? Did not get an answer for this. Cancelled service. I only produce about 1-2 bags of trash anyways. Charged $12 to pick up the cans. Basically I was told something different upon signing up and have overpaid since. I will not use nor recommend their services as I do no appreciate this type of business practice. read more

Elderly African American employee rudely came out and asked "You aren't stealing anything" when we drove up to drop off recyclables (desktops); after having picked up a desktop that had a decent case we wanted to repurpose instead of wasting the energy needed for it to be smelted. I stated we had taken it not k owing it might be considered theft as I unloaded the car of the machines I was dropping off. He then said it was on camera and private property rudely and I apologized he slammed the door shut. There are no signs stating it was private property and there were no signs stating it wasn't ok to take the dropped off material. Legally of someone drops trash off in the curb it is not private property and he lied I believe because he wanted the desktop case. read more
