Great trash removal service. Unfortunately they raise your bill every month. We went from paying $90.00 every three months to paying $166.27 every three months. I just looked at their website and they are stating the charge around $20.00 a month. So my thank you for being a loyal customer for three years was to jack up my bill substantially. This is a very dishonest group. Republic services Jenison Mi. They seem to only care about money. I was a model customer for over six years,never late or missed a payment. When I decided to switch my service they said they would P/U their barrels in 2-3 business days. Republic Services took over 3 weeks to remove. Took up a lot of space since Red Creek dropped Nice new barrels on time (2-3) days. When I received a $15 bill(invoice) for what they describe as "Removal Fee". I called to try to reason with them (didn't sign up for a $15 "removal fee" and I just want to call it even since I stored your barrels for 3weeks. I cancelled service before it ever got started, and I have gotten a bill for 6 months, for delivery of container, pick up of container, service fee's etc.....I have called for 6 months, have been told it will be taken care of, and I have now been put into collections for $75....I'm sure they are thinkings it's only $75 just pay it.....I don't pay scammers or cheaters. We have used Republic Waste for over 10 years (only option in the area). Fortunately, we were able to finally make a switch to a new trash service that began servicing our area. Over the years Republic has been inconsistent with their rates. I have many friends and family members on the same pick up route, and the FOR THE SAME SERVICE, rates were all over the place. About 5 years ago they were charging our grandmother $90 quarter while we were paying $35. They took advantage of her because she trusted in their business practices and did not think to have to call to negotiate her rate. Their customer service is average at best. We experienced missed pick up days and trash spilled. And now they send me a bill for $35 to pick up their container, which is their property. Our new service provider was able to have a new container at our house within 2 hours of me calling to make the switch, and at NO cost. Is providing a container not part of your business and what we pay for? And just now when I called to discuss the new bill I am directed to North Carolina. I cannot even talk to the local office in Jenison, MI. Same on you Republic Waste! read more

Service wasn't bad but also wasn't great - grumpy trash collectors, a few half-dumped pickups, etc. Ultimately I decided to go with another company after my one year contract because I was irritated by the price increase and hidden fees ($18 for container exchange when the container that I had already paid $18 to have delivered arrived smelly). When I called to cancel, they said since I had paid for the year in full I was all set, and to just leave the containers out for removal. A few weeks later I get a call and then an email that I have an overdue balance on my account. I call and they inform me I have been charged $75 for container removal and other fees. Have had nothing but problems since cancelling service. They are charging a fee for cancelling service in the middle of the month (you have to pay for a full month) despite the fact that they bill in a 3 month cycle and we were not using the service at the time because the home was unoccupied. After cancelling they sent a bill to the address we no longer live at for pick up of containers and a month's service. They also sent the bill to collections. Called collections the day I received the notice and paid it. Got a second collections letter after paying it. When I called Republic they claim they have not been made aware that the bill has been paid more than a week later. Spending way too much time dealing with their crap and getting nowhere. After reading the other reviews I had the very same issue with Republic. I used their service for 22 years. I would have to call every year or so to threaten to cancel for my rate to go back down. Finally, I had enough and called to cancel on July 2. Because I called after July 1 I was told that I could not cancel until the following month and that I would have to pay for that month. I asked to speak with a manager and no call back...I filled out a complaint on their site and no call. I paid the bill and moved on only to get a 'removal' fee of $31.21. Republic Services for trash removal is a company for which I have a steady increase in appreciation. I am embarrassed by the carelessness, disrespect and selfishness my apartment complex has for every one of the dumpster areas. The staff & residents could at least be courteous enough to haul away to an actual landfill their large, heavy, old matresses & box springs/bed frames, huge slabs of filthy torn out carpet, and some of the bulkiest and heaviest pieces of furniture I have ever seen. But our current maintainence staff, along with 85% of the apt. residents are stuffing heaps of countless piles of these items-- along with all of their daily garbage-- into the 4 small outdoor trash bins we have for the 250 resident rooms that are within the complex. Every few days when Republic Services attempts to pick up the awful mess that surrounds the grounds of the dumpsters, my heart just breaks for them. They are dealing with an absolute nightmare. I have no idea how they do it. I hope they realize there are people watching who have an immense gratitude for their extreme patience and some of the most physically and mentally demanding work I've witnessed. To be fair they are fairly consistent with pick up. They do delay services quite a bit due to weather. My problem is that they are expensive. I started with them June 2018 paying $30.68 per quarter and by February 2021 the price had gone up to $54.75 per quarter. When I tried to cancel they wanted to reduce my rate. However, their trash container is smaller than my new service provider where I am only paying $48.42 quarterly for a larger container. Then the person I am cancelling with says they are going to wait a week to pick up their container and charge me $30 to pick it up. I noted I refused to pay for it and they did not have permission to charge me for pick up. She said they charged me $10 to drop it off when I first started with them and I noted had I known that I would not have elected their service. I again told her she was not to charge me for it and she said they would anyway. I noted I would dispute the charge and I was recording the call. She got very upset and said they would take $15 off the pick up charge but it was noted in fine print on the back of the invoice. Since I am on auto pay if that is true then it is my fault for not reading the fine print. This company is highly unethical and in my opinion the defrauded me. So they have charged me a total of $25 to drop off and pick up their trash container while storing it for 7-days on my property. Be careful if you go with this company. read more

We used their service for over a decade but after repeated price increases, decided to compare prices and found another company that was about a third less. So, we cancelled our service with them. This is where the fun started. They charged me $66 ($22 X 3 cans - Yard Waste, Trash and Re-cyling) to pick up the cans. $66 to load cans and take them back after years of being a customer. Terrible! Terrible Terrible. I have had service with Republic for years. Then recently over the last six months our trash was missed getting picked up. It happened often & we were forced to call & the next day to get it picked up. We always put our trash out the night before. They were nice enough to credit our account for the times that we did not get pick up. Finally after it happened so many times, we canceled our service. I received credit for the weeks I prepaid service, but I was charged $20 per container to be picked up ($60 - trash, recycle & yard waste). Apparently this charge was in my contract - never mind that they didn't hold up their end of the bargain to pick up my trash. Have had this company for many years. Put out a few small pieces of paneling and they left them lay on the ground. They said they consider that building material and would not take it. After 20+years of service I am very disappointed. I told them I wanted to cancel and go with another company and they told me I couldn't cancel until the end of the month and they were going to charge me an additional $25.00 to come and pick up their trash can. since I dropped off my containers I received a voice mail from them regarding a past due amount. I paid in full when I cancelled service so I ignored the call. Then I get a bill in the mail for $15, I have called them twice to find out what it is for only to be on hold for a very long time and giving up. I just left a message for them to call me back. I suspect they are charging me the $15 for handling charge they were going to bill to pick the containers up, even though I delivered the containers to them to eliminate a 25 per container charge. Republic Services in Jenison- prices kept going up with no explanation, canceled service and now I'm being charged a pick up fee of $22 per container! That's $44 to pick up 2 bins, one of which was from the previous company and is in bad shape. That is poor customer service for how much they charge for their service. Just got off the phone with customer service and my blood pressure is sky high. Paid all my high bills, but somehow there was a $13 short? They took my recycling and my yard waste, but not the regular trash. Called customer service on Thursday, who told me to pay the 13, so I did, and they scheduled pickup for Friday. All weekend my trashcan sat flapping at the end of the driveway - neighbors loved it, I'm sure. Called Monday. A really nasty customer service woman told me that the order was cancelled because the girl filled out the wrong form and she never should have scheduled it. She said now I have to wait until Wednesday (regular pickup day) and that I should have paid that 13 bill before now and berated me for not doing it (NEVER KNEW ABOUT IT). NO customer service at all. This is terrible. I'll be asking neighbors who they use. This is nothing on the men who work the trash pickup - they are great, awesome. But Customer service in Holland MIchigan is the worst. Fire them please and get better employees or soon you won't have a company. They are the first line and need to be stellar. No reason to make a customer feel terrible. I contracted with Republic in Muskegon, very poor service. I live alone, don't put out my recycling out all the time, but when I do, I have to call and let them know, they don't regularly check my property even though I had to pay for a year in advance. I just cancelled. I can drop it off myself, it's a lot easier than their non-service. read more

The Worst, I would rather burn my trash and ruin the environment for my children then every work with Republic Services again. Underpaid my 90 day bill and had my service suspended. After 2 week of no pick up I called and was told that i needed to pay my remaining balance and a 25$ reactivation fee. Republic Services missed my pickup 3 times in the last 6 weeks. When I call they take my complaint, can't tell me when they'll pick up. My container has been at the end of my driveway for a week, I had to drag my bagged trash to the end of my long driveway. Tomorrow is my scheduled pick up day, container is full. If you have trash half an inch above the top of container, you'll receive a surcharge. When I ask why they aren't picking up my trash they say "driver didn't see a container". I consistently have container out the night before scheduled pickup - in the same spot. Either Republic is lying or their driver isn't doing their job. Republic took over our local trash hauler over a year ago and I have used my own container from the previous company. Republic applied their logo label to MY container and charged me $33 for setting a new container. I called to complain - same routine as before - they will take your complaint, but nothing changes. I have paid a year in advance or I would cancel NOW. Be advised - Republic Services does not issue refunds if you're not happy with their service and want to cancel. Unless you have an attorney on retainer and you hire Republic to haul your trash, be prepared to be ripped off and extorted. You have no leverage. If you can't afford an attorney, they'll just expect you to accept whatever terrible service they choose to provide. The only recourse you may have is to register your complaint on sites like Yelp. read more

Absolutely the worst. Contacted them for a special pick up of a mattress, gave them a credit card when I was quoted $30. They didn't charge my credit card and essentially billed me for $41. Then they charged me a late fee for not paying the bill. Also, they didn't send me a bill for my yearly service, and were getting ready to charge me again for a late fee. AVOID THIS COMPANY! We have been customers of Republic/Allied Waste for 13 years. Our costs have continually risen each year. I called today to cancel our service after researching other companies in our area and finding them much more reasonably priced. I was told that our bill was high and they could lower it. Oh really? I was expecting 10-20 dollars. The amount I was given was a THIRD of what we had been paying for the last two years. When I questioned why the service had not come down in price as their prices decreased, I was told they do not have the man power to change the bills. WHAT???? I find this morally wrong to purposely over charge a customer. Everyone works hard to make money and it is WRONG to pull this on people! When I asked about a refund for the remaining month on my paid bill, I was told they do not give refunds. I questioned it and supposedly will receive a refund for August. I wish I could leave 0 stars. This company is HORRIBLE! They, by far, have the worst customer service. Every worker I spoke with, gave me different information! I called on 2/9 to cancel my service; I was told this was done and the cart would be picked up on 2/14. It had not been picked up by 2/16 so I called again. I was told that my service was never cancelled and they had no record of my call. Spoke with a supervisor who then told me I owed $144 past due; I pay a year in advance! When she decided to look at my account, she saw that I was correct. She apparently then canceled my service. Called me back later in the day and said there is a fee for the cart removal; when I called on 2/9, this fee was supposed to be waived. My husband called them back and he was told that we owe for December and January; we do not and I had spoken with two different people and never told this!
