We love getting out and walking is too slow. We also had the idea of taking our bicycles with us on…read moretrips, so we needed a bicycle that is portable, and really nice if we are able to be folded. We eventually discovered Citizen Bike for their many styles and sizes of bicycles, but what attracted our attention were their smaller 16" folding bicycles. We ordered one then another weeks after the first bicycle was ordered then arrived because - quite simply - it was light, portable, easy and FUN to ride! We rode these bicycles for a few months, then my wife was getting tired and couldn't keep up with me on the bike lanes and hiking trails. I decided to help her ride better and to stay alongside me, by looking for a bicycle that was the same as our current bikes, BUT electric! I had to look NO farther than Citizen Bike again, where I found our first bicycles! BUT I wanted a test first, so I picked up a red Lil London ebike for her. The pandemic had started and supply chains has slowed everything, including Citizen Bike. Eventually, it was sent and I took the first ride; it was so fun and a successful test ride, I immediately ordered an eBike for myself in the color white. It arrived faster which made me happier. Today - as I type this - we do NOT ride our bikes everyday. We are both photographers, so our cameras and photography take up a lot of our time. BUT we do find time to ride all year round, including in Winter in the snow and ice! Today it's been three years since we ordered our Citizen 16" folding eBikes, and we just surpassed 1500 miles! As I stated, we don't ride everyday BUT when we can, we do ride! Our longest ride thus far has been about 20miles. During the past year, we have again been thinking of upgrading our Lil Londons with a newer folding bicycle, a bigger motor and battery, and with suspension for a smoother ride. We've tried a few BUT, they do not match the quality nor the sturdiness of our Citizen Bikes, plus it seems ebikes these days are made to NOT be pedaled, and WE like pedaling our ebikes! So, we are keeping our Citizen Bike 16" folding eBikes for now, but just wish they'd upgrade the folding ebikes available displayed on the webpage. It's the same ones we have right now at home that we had purchased years ago!

Shipping was free for me and I got a pair of free citizen branded socks and a water bottle as I had a few custom things added to my bike. It came packaged well and there not a single scratch or anything on the bike and the paint is absolutely amazing. Looks like quality stuff. When i ride my bike I feel like i'm in total control. The brakes are really strong. I didn't upgrade for the softer seat which i wish i did because the standard one is very hard and hurts me after a while. I have no regrets about my purchase whatsoever. I highly recommend them. They are extremely affordable and good quality bikes in comparison to the other folding bike brands. Their site is extremely user friendly. I love the convenience of being able to fold my bike I can transport and store it pretty much anywhere. Add ons ~ I got the bluetooth player that also serves as a horn (bike came with a regular horn as well still). I had water bottle holder added.

We were considering two locations for renting bikes to ride on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk: Sun &…read moreFun Cycles & The Bike Shack. Both are located near public parking garages, but you might be able to find 1 hour of street parking for $4-something or 2 hours of street parking for $9.45 (what we paid). If using one of the public parking garages, I think the rates are $10/hr or $50/day. We decided to go with Sun & Fun Cycles since both places seemed to be a toss up in terms of reviews. Also, The Bike Shack is closer to Hollywood Blvd, so our assumption was street parking would be more difficult to secure. We called before committing to a parking spot in order to confirm their location and the availability of the bike we wanted, and all of our questions were answered in a friendly and professional tone over the phone. The bike we chose for our party of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids 10 and under) was the 4-wheel Surrey. We decided to rent it for (1) hour, which was $35. You can either pay with cash or Zelle (no fees) or do a credit card transaction with a fee. While renting the bike, you leave your ID at the bike shop. We ended up biking for about 45 minutes, riding north to Thomas St, then south to Georgia St, and finally north again to get back to Sun & Fun Cycles. During the ride, we tried having (2) adults and (1) kid on the bench and (1) kid on the bench-basket, and (2) adults on the bench with (2) kids on basket-bench. Each of these seating arrangements worked fine. However, both of the adults had very sore bottoms at the end from the uncomfortable bench seat. Other than that, this was a memorable and fun activity for all.

Reasonably priced and friendly service, but the bikes are pretty run down. Ours started making a horrible noise on our way back. Probably due to being in the salt water breeze, but the bikes would definitely benefit from some new chains and parts for sure.
