What an amazing anniversary afternoon at River Oaks! We booked a couples massage that came with a…read more30 minute soak. We arrived early and grabbed a bottle of wine to share in the garden before our treatment time. They had our soak ready early so we moved inside to finish our wine. I arrived early and the two women at the front desk were not friendly and gave the impression that they did not enjoy their role. It would have been nice to have the option to soak outside under the oaks. But instead, I was placed in a room looking at four walls. Aesthetically, the room was not appealing. The room could have been cleaner. As there was cobwebs on the walls and the table and chairs were dusty. There were dead bugs in the light covers that were overhead. Erin, the massage therapist was awesome, it was very relaxing and she even offered me a towel at the end for the shower. At the end of my visit, I went to the front desk to pay, and the staff was unfriendly, and gave me two envelopes to tip the therapist and guest services. The tip for guest services is for those at the front desk that pour a beverage for you and show you to the hot tub. Personally, I thought this was a very tacky gesture for guest services to request a tip. Upon leaving the grounds, I noticed that the grass had not been mowed in awhile and was turning yellow. I would have given this review less stars but the friendly and attentive massage therapist made up for the poor customer service at the front desk.

If you need/want an affordable and quality massage in SLO County, I recommend this place. It is not…read morefancy or a spa experience at all. I made an appointment on line and arrived a little early. I was greeted by a gentleman eating a peach. He was very helpful and introduced me to my massage therapist, Linda. She took me back to a massage room immediately and it was clean & spacious. She asked what kind of pressure I wanted, and I laid face down on the massage table and she got to work. She was very skilled at using deeper, broader, and more even pressure for my muscle tension. She spoke broken English but was still a good communicator about pressure and checked in often. It's in a strip mall off El Camino Real and it's obvious the owners of this property are not taking care of it. But these people are not the owners. And the pricing is fair and the service really good. I've had a lot of massage in my life, and while the setting wasn't as pleasing as a day spa, the quality of massage was five star. $60 for 60 minutes and $90 for 90 minutes. I'll definitely be back.

They were extremely accommodating of my comfort and I'm convinced the points that they hit helped induce my labor. Such an excellent value for what they provide! Last night I went and got a full body massage for an hour a few days post birth with Linda and she took great care of me to help relieve tension from labor. Highly recommend to all of my pregnant (and Non pregnant) mommas to ensure you feel your best! So grateful to have this place right down the street so that I can get regular foot and neck massages. I love that they're open late. I can go after kids are put down.

I was offered a free scalp massage and prosecco add-on when booking my appointment over the phone. The front desk person was nice. I went in early and she told me to come back at a certain time. I think there may have been confusion with my appointment time because the email confirmation I received said one time, but verbally she said another. Despite that, it actually worked in my favor. The changing room is like a converted closet. Maybe 6 lockers. But you still have privacy since you can lock the door. I can't imagine any more than one person in there getting changed comfortably. There are no showers (but I didn't necessarily need one). After I checked in and changed, I was shown to the relaxation room. The front desk person did not point out the fruits and nuts, nor the patio, but I didn't partake in either. Now on to the massage therapist ... WOW. WOW. WOW. I can't say enough positive things about Michelle (I'm really hoping I remember her name correctly). She did a deep tissue massage and found ALL the knots. She worked them REALLY well and I can tell, as a spa enthusiast myself, that she knows what she's doing. It was an incredible deep tissue massage. Deducted 1-star because I wasn't offered the infrared spa after the massage and didn't receive the prosecco that came with the add-on. I stayed at the hotel and getting a massage was such a nice touch to my girl's trip. I would recommend the spa, more specifically, Michelle, if you're looking for a good deep tissue massage. But don't expect all the bells & whistles. And you may have to follow-up about some things that the staff won't remember.

I do feel that for a property of this scale, they might want to upgrade a few things: maybe add showers, a steam room and a more spacious changing/locker room, as well as some upgrades to their outdoor spa lounging area - it is kind of like a backyard patio rather than a lounging area. But again, Brooke was great, and overall, it was a pleasant experience.
