You can save your winnings and trade them in for one of the larger plushies on display, which somehow makes playing even more addictive. If I ever won the lottery--not saying I did, but there would be signs--one of those signs would definitely be me spending way too much time at Nakoko trying to clear out their plushie collection. As another Yelper stated, this is how you make adults exercise. Since it was our first time, we opted for the 60-minute session. After purchasing our passes, we received a blue wristband for a locker and a white wristband which was our key to accessing the many rooms and games available. If it's your first time, you'll need to create a profile. After using the restroom and storing our stuff in the locker, our staff member led us through the hallway where there were multiple rooms to choose from: Hide, Laser, Strike, Hoop, Scan, Megagrid, Grid, Control. One of the rooms was under maintenance when we went. Time doesn't start until you scan to enter your first room. The staffer gave us a tutorial on how to go about using the screens: pick your game, level, and scan your badge. There are multiple games per room to choose from and you unlock levels as you rank up. Each room can fit up to five persons max. I was worried about the wait times for the rooms, especially the more popular ones, but waiting only took a few minutes. Plus, if you hit game over and there's no group waiting behind you, you have the option to replay. It may seem overwhelming at first, but the screen was pretty intuitive and we got the hang of it pretty quickly. So many games to choose from: An hour just flew by! I liked how even though time was up, they gave us the option to play one final game. We didn't try any of the beta stuff since it was our first time, but I can imagine if you're a seasoned Activate member, the novelty of a new game would keep you coming back for more. 100% would recommend checking out.

Located in Stonestown, there's plenty of parking all around the mall. You can head towards Regal Cinema (2nd floor above Uniqlo) to find Activate. From there, you check in (or pay on the spot) and you'll get a wristband to sign in. Start thinking of a cool nickname for yourself. In the lobby is also two separate bathrooms and a water fountain. You will get a locker to share amongst your group for your things and you are allowed to go back to your locker while you play. There's plenty of rooms inside and I'm sure it's meant to keep the players going. If there is no one behind you for the room then you're given the option to extend the game. Overall, Activate is a good time for all - we saw young children and older adults playing and the games are spaced out enough to where you don't feel like you're waiting long for a room to open up. Rooms with AC would've been nice, but they do have a couple fans in the game area for you to stand by if you get too hot.

Studio 41 offers catering and equipment rental, and they likely have someone to assist with party planning. I chose to handle everything myself, which I wouldn't do again--it's very time-consuming and I didn't get to sit down to enjoy the guest of honor. Despite the solo planning, we still had an absolutely fantastic time. No DJ was needed because the space is wired for Bluetooth, and the sound system is more than loud enough. The venue includes a small kitchen area for food storage and a massive fridge/freezer to keep beverages cold.

The kitchen area had a nice huge refrigerator for us to store our beverages and items that needed to be kept cold, and a separated back room where we served our food buffet style. I have seen multiple people mentioned that there is an entrance fee to use the gym. Maybe I was there on a good day, but I did not have any entrance fees to pay. But if there was one, then I understand because how else will you maintain a facility of this size, including the tennis courts and the playground for the kids. My rating is solely based on my experience and nothing else. Although, I can't say past reviews, are wrong. I can say my day at this location was enjoyable. Parking isn't the best. There are parking spaces but not too many of them. There are two small lots that can fit a handful of cars so the sooner you get there, the better your chances are of finding a spot close to the entrance. It's located in a nice area and you will definitely feel safe here. The staff seemed pretty friendly and although, it's not a huge facility. It's a decent size for any basketball or volleyball game.

The reason for the poor rating is because they charge $4 admission fee. This is a public facility, not a private gym. Every park gym in SF is free to the public during open gym (open gym is also most of the day). Plus, the gym is not even well maintained. It's a nice gym, but the floor is filthy and one of the nets on the main goal was ripped. I have gone twice, several weeks apart, and both times had these conditions. You should keep the floors clean, especially if I'm paying for entry. Within an hour my hands were black and the ball was slippery. Now I don't mind if a park offsets some of its costs with income, but not in these conditions. If the open gym was in the evening or weekend when most people would want to go or if it was always open gym, that's understandable to charge. But the reason they're not open to the public during normal hours is because they are renting it out for other income (leagues or after school activities). I'd guess the only offer the open gym because no one wants to rent it in the middle of a work day. I was the only one there for the entire 2-3 hours both times I went. Do they really need the additional couple dollars a month to operate?
