TERRIBLE SERVICE ! Don't use REO. They replaced gaskets on fridge/freezer and the units are both now condensation and frosting excessively. Units running constantly but cannot maintain temp. Food is spoiling. The technician said "line the gasket with toilet paper" (I'm not kidding) and "press your knee against and hold it closed". WTF ? Problem continues. REO now does NOT respond. I wish someone would have warned me about Reo Appliances before I had to take Mike to Small Claims Court to get my money back. He promised a "free" estimate but charged a service fee after I told him I was done! He spent less than ten (10) minutes in my home doing what he referred to in his invoice as a "complete check." I gave him "$2,600.00 over the phone, tremendous mistake, and he proactively disappeared for over 30 days. Notwithstanding, I called his office six times and he returned one! I recommend you "run" not walk away from this business. I will quote Mike's own words from a text he sent me, "I apologize for not communicating with you and you're right it is bad business." I don't usually write reviews , but this company got on my nerves. will never use these people again, ever! three months trying to fix my dishwasher, charged almost 500 dollars. after many excuses, the best they could do was trying to charge an extra 172 dollars for another part, or refund the parts used which was not even one third of my bill. they kept the service call ( which was for diagnosing the problem) and labor. the dishwasher is not working, and they kept over $350 dollars charged initially. _____________________ Updating my review: after reading my review, Mike ( the owner ) reached out to me and promised to make it right. My HVAC was running but was no longer heating my home properly at which point Mike came to give me a service call without me having any contract with them in 24hrs in January! Him and Joe diagnose the problem, gave me an option of a repair or putting in a whole new unit which is what I chose not only did they find out immediately if it was in stock but they gave me temporary heat for the week it took to return with the new unit which they installed promptly and left my home spotless. They are easy to reach the receptionist at their office is lovely everyone got back to me they consistently and efficiently provided amazing service. read more

This company is, far and away, the absolute worst I have ever done "business" with. For us it began in August, when the lights on our stove exhaust system didn't work. They came and said the needed to order a part. Fine. Due to Covid, I gave it THREE MONTHS before I started calling maybe twice a week to check on it - and every time they said they had to check with someone or another and PROMISED they could call me back - and never did ONCE. I must have called several times a week from November-January - but never once did they return a call. This whole time I had no light over the stove, then, miraculously, in December the lights started coming on for maybe an hour, but then would just go out again. Finally, in January, someone from upstate NY called to say the part had come in. Five months later, I was so happy. The technician, Rich, came to "fix" it, and exacerbated the problem by removing the transformer for some reason - so now the lights didn't work at all again. No problem, he said - he was handling it personally and would be back in a week, when the whole thing would be up and running. Not only did he not show up, he also avoided and stopped returning my calls altogether himself - so then I was completely screwed by this company. I wouldn't recommend REO to my worst enemy and frankly I can't believe they're still in business. Every receptionist promised callbacks that never came, Mike, who I guess is the manager, never called back, and Rich, a technician who promised he'd fix everything, are the people I attempted to contact and all of whom are the least professional human beings on the face of the earth. I am in the middle of a 6 month long "dispute" that remains unresolved. We had warranty coverage with another company, CPS. When we needed refrigerator warranty service call, they recommended REO. REO person came to our home, and demanded payment before doing any work. We paid them $100, plus tax. We tried to get reimbursement from the warranty company, and sent them copies of our check to REO and the cashing of that. But CPS refused to reimburse us, saying they already had paid REO. We have tried numerous times to get in touch with REO to resolve. So far, just "crickets" and no communications. Rated REO a "3" - which will go up or down based on their action, or lack of. read more

I contacted several appliance-repair companies through Yelp. Reo responded almost immediately. I let them know what days they could come to repair my Magic Chef fridge that is probably 20 years old. I've had my electrician and my plumber both look at it. Not only did Joe show up on the early side of the arrival window, but he fixed the problem in five minutes. It was a small Job! I have had the same terrible experience that others have cited. Rudeness, incompetence and high cost. I could tell the whole story but it would be a repeat of the experience other reviewers described though probably worse in some respects. Bottom line is I spent a small fortune for a simple repair that they could not get right and they could not have treated me worse despite the fact that my kitchen appliances and washer/dryer were purchased there. TERRIBLE. DO NOTE USE . I made an appointment for service for my refrigerator, under an extended warranty with New Leaf. Mike's first date available was a month out. I fully described the problem. I was given a time of 9-1. The day of the appointment, 9/15, I waited from 9 to 1 - Nothing. I then started calling the office, and was told they would contact Mike and advise. Nothing. I called four times, each time being told they would reach Mike and advise. Nothing. Finally at close to 4 pm, after waiting at home all day, I got a call telling me they decided they did not want to provide the service and would not come at all. These guys are disreputable and I strongly advise others to not use them for service! read more

My Thermador wall oven stopped working in early June. After waiting several days, a serviceman from REO came on 6/9. The repair required a new (or refurbished) part, which had to be ordered. It is now 7/13 and I am still waiting. I have left voice mail messages every day this week asking for a return call with an estimate of when the repairs might be expected. No one even gives me the courtesy of a return call - at all! I'm almost ready to cancel the repair and buy a new oven. It will NOT be a Thermador since REO is one of only a few companies that service them. read more

Since we moved to Westport in 1976, we came across Reo early in our residency. What a fine reputable company. We can not imagine dealing with any other company where appliances are involved. Today we had a service call with them for our Dryer. The technician took the machine apart, examined and cleaned all the parts and replaced the belt which had broken. We are so happy to have our dryer working again and are confident it will function well for years to come. read more

REO'S = Really Egregious Objectionable Service Last summer I purchased an entire kitchen from Reo; the fridge door arrived damaged and was assured I'd receive a new one. Four times I was given dented replacement doors which, of course, I refused. Reo now tells me Whirlpool has terrible Quality Control, that I'm too fussy and they will not continue to try further so I should contact Whirlpool directly myself. Then they hung up on me. It was my elderly mother's refrigerator that had stopped working and they so kindly and generously squeezed her in to their already busy day. I am writing this review on behalf of my mother and stepfather. They are, shall we say, somewhat "pre-Internet," but they absolutely RAVE about REO -- based on 12 years' worth of exemplary, professional, knowledgeable advice and prompt service. While I live out of state my folks are in Westport, and have told me again and again of numerous discussions, purchases and installations from REO (including an excellent stove, an extremely effective dishwasher, and a fine oven). No one from REO has been anything but courteous and professional to them, which is a good thing since their 30-year-old dryer is now on its last legs and needs replacing. My folks need a bit of help at this point, so I will be contacting REO in the morning. I promise to report back here if I encounter anything but excellent service. read more

Phoned prior to bringing in commercial dehumidifier and told that they could service machine. Brought machine to their location and provided a detailed description of problem, diagnostics performed, and current state. They took a diagnostic deposit of $40. The following business day the tech calls me, reiterates everything i described, says he is uncomfortable fixing machine and providing any warranty, suggests that i pick up unit and he will refund deposit. When i returned was told that refund offer was mistake and they work hard diagnosing these problems and need to be compensated. They diagnosed nothing other than reading the ticket. I am frustrated that this could have been resolved on the phone prior to the inconvenience of borrowing a truck and rescinding the offer for a refund. Would not reccommend! read more

I have dealt with Reo for quite a few years. They installed Island Islandaire heating/cooling units to replace the old, poorly functioning units that were here when we bought our condo, 10 years ago. Everything was fine until Islandaire switched from electro-mechanical units to electronic units. Two of the electronic units they installed appeared to be wired improperly, and Reo was unable to repair them. My request to replace them was politely ignored. The thermostatic controls on these do not work and they apparently will not stand behind their work. I can turn on each of these but heat just blasts out of them. To further frustrate me, I received only one warranty card. read more

These guys are really great! My wife & I recently purchased a washer and dryer from them. The sales person we dealt with (Jay) was super friendly. We ended up getting exactly what we wanted, even after some difficulty from the warehouse. We felt like REO always had our best interest at heart. Even after a bit of a issue with the washer, they were very prompt in sending someone to fix the washer. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an honest appliances and repair shop. I previously wrote a glowing review about the appliance repair services of this company. Since then, things there have changed. In my last call for dishwasher repair, everything has gone wrong, so far: First, they lost all the information from my first request for service, even though they had taken my credit card info for payment. Karen seems to have lost it all. Second, the serviceman scheduled for two weeks later never reported his findings and my several calls to REO, speaking with Susan 3 times and with John once with no information to date!! Rich, the serviceman simply seems not to convey his info even 4 days after his service call. I have dealt with this company since 2006 and they used to be excellent, but now they seem totally overwhelmed with requests and unable to deal with things properly. Understandably, COVID-19 is causing problems, but transmitting info only takes a few seconds, so organization seems to be the issue, here. Hopefully, they will pay attention to their bad reviews and fix things, soon, as I hate to lose local businesses and no-one can long survive a poor service record. read more

Let me start by saying I own a restaurant and i have about 15 different refrigerators. I had a few issues with my ice machine and a few other problems with our walk -in refrigerator. I called Reo Applicances and the owner himself, Mike, showed up for our service call. He checked everything and expressed the problem. He decided to order all parts and checked all my refrigerators free of charge ! He came back a day later and fixed all our problems and gave us a good price. We still call reo to take care of our air conditioning units and other maintenance issues. Through all the different business that we have encounter Reo has been not only reliable but honest. The woman doing the scheduling was friendly and tried to get the technician over as soon as possible. The guy who showed up was so rude, I was literally speechless. MY husband was home but didn't hear the doorbell so when I pulled up, I got a lecture on that. He took one look of the GE washer, said it was crap (!) and told me he is not going to bother fixing it, buy a new one. Showed him the stovetop fan and he quoted me $800 for repair and parts and if I were to buy parts myself, do not call me to repair it. They replied quickly online thru yelp with how much it will cost to come out to take a look, specifically saying that they can look at this brand of unit: "Yes, we will service your Splendide washer/dryer combo unit." So, it's July. My 15 + year old KitchenAid fridge/freezer decides to stop being cold. (not warm, just not cold). I call the places found googling that sound like they would be able to come out on an "emergency" call. Nope, can you wait until 7 days from now? Huh? So, I also called REO service. I think I bought this from them waaaayyy back then. So long ago, I'm not on the database anymore. But, well, not surprising. Anyhow, she squeezed me in, Art came by, diagnosed it quickly, told me, "this is pretty old...parts might not be readily available." And, Amazing! The part was, and, REO had it in stock. He drove back to the shop, got the part, came back to the house, installed, and, voila! It's cold again. OK, it's a fridge on borrowed time. He could have just as easily said, "Too old. come to the shop and buy a new one...". Thank you Art, thank you REO for recognizing that July with no fridge really isn't a good thing, thanks for the fix. Guess where I'm going when I finally get around to replacing unit? read more

I ordered a washing machine after making sure my measurements were all correct...The delivery guy showed up, told me it wouldn't fit in the spot and refused to even TRY. He also mentioned he couldn't get it through the hallway (which a bigger machine fit through in the first place). Seriously, I called them to find out about fixing our Samsung ice maker and before I could even finish with my sentence, I was told "we don't work on Samsung". When I asked if she knew of a local repair company that did, she told me to "look in the phone book". The most unprofessional place you could ever imagine using. One, they don't have appointments for a week out so if you have an emergency, forget it. When the service guy came, he was very disrespectful to me and my housekeeper. When I explained that the dishwasher buttons had to be pushed repeatedly and played with just to make it turn on, he ignored me. Then when I told him there was no hot water in the dishwasher, he said that it was common sense to have to run the sink water on hot for a while to make a dishwasher have hot water. I explained that in 15 years of being in a house, I have never had to pay for a nice dishwasher and expect to keep the faucet running for it to work. He then started to make me feel stupid and says he has been telling people to do this for 40 years. He had zero respect of how to treat someone in their own home and my dishwasher is still broken. Thank goodness that another person did say it was broken and what exactly was wrong so we know. Do not have REO come near your home. Their technicians have no respect, are rude and they can't fix anything. Save money and time and go elsewhere. read more

I should have read the reviews before booking appt. The repair men and the office was pleasant - but there were just too many mistakes and bad judgement for me to recommend them or use them again. Three appts to get a simple repair completed because of the errors on REO's side. First they came with wrong part for our Bosch dishwasher (and they had all the correct manufacturer numbers for the model). I found this out after they had spent the time (and charged me labor costs) installing a part that was not made for this Bosch dishwasher. They insisted that it would work fine - I agreed to give it a try. Within a few days it was obvious that they needed to order and install the correct part. I called - and no problem with getting this completed EXCEPT for me having to wait another three to four hours for them to come and complete the work. I would have been fine after this - everyone can make a mistake but when I went to load the dishwasher, the whole unit started falling forward because they never re-anchored it to the cabinets. More phone calls - another appt. that they didn't follow through on the agreed to time. More phone calls - where they insisted that did re-anchor it (now they hadn't been hear to even see it at this point) - and I said then why is it falling forward and the response was "...maybe the screw fell out." really?!?! - if that was true then that is really bad workmanship - having the screws fall out within hours of their repair work So more waiting for a third appt. for the same relatively simple repair - fingers crossed! read more

We've called Reo twice now and have had a great experience. The new owner came for both repairs and he was very friendly, professional and arrived on time. The first time we were expecting to have to buy a new dryer since ours is about 10 years old, but he was able to fix it easily, so we were comfortable calling back again when we were having problems with the control panel on our relatively new dishwasher that we had bought elsewhere (also a quick fix to replace a part). We're very happy to have finally found a repair company we can trust, and won't just try to sell us a new appliance. read more

Went in this past Saturday afternoon to look at a new dishwasher. Sales person immediately greeted us and we found a new DW on sale within 5 minutes. We were asked when would we like it delivered and then was asked if we wanted it TODAY. Within 20 minutes after paying for the DW in the store, the installers were at our home installing our new dishwasher. The installers were knowledgeable , courteous and very mindful of not making a mess in the house. Within an hour and a half of entering their store, we had a new dishwasher in our home.The dishwasher works wonderful and my wife and I agree this was the best experience with any work that has been done at our house since we moved in 2 years ago.
