Everyone was thrilled: --They served salmon, which made the bride happy. --They served steak, which made the groom happy. --Everything was delicious, which made the guests and wedding party happy. --They accomodated food allergies and preferences, which made the celiacs/lactose intolerant folks/vegetarians happy. --They served and set up on-time in our Maple Valley location, which made everyone happy. --They did it for about $10 per person, which made my parents so happy they cried. My only complaint is that they provide only disposable plates and utensils--and not the classy kind. So we had to rent some. We used them for our wedding in October of 2010 and overall they did a great job. It was a little tough to reach the point person in advance, but that was a minor point and she was always friendly and helpful once on the line. The selection is quite good on the menu and it's pretty flexible as well. This isn't super high end stuff, more your standard Pacific Northwest style middle of the road which is in fact just what we wanted in order to sort of make everyone happy. And of course cost was a huge factor for us, and this was the most economical fully catered option that I could find, even amongst the culinary programs at the other community colleges. The only other thing that seemed appealing in a similar (but still even slightly higher) price range was this company that does on site brick oven gourmet pizzas with salad- logistically that couldn't work for us however. The greens in the seasonal salad were fresh and it was my favorite item actually! We were able to add on some extra options as we had a lot of young children so that worked out really well. The staff were on time, and set up went well except for a miscommunication about where the line started! I also thought the presentation of the food was very good! They did the catering for my friends wedding and wow!!! They did amazing!!!!! Everyone she talked to while planning was helpful and they were on top of everything through out the planning!! The day of they did great!!! Went above and beyond! They poured and passed out the champagne toast which was great since I don't think we would of done such a good job ourselves! I have never been anything but overwhelmingly pleased with the catering department at RTC. I've used them for a baby shower and several events. In addition two close friends used them for a weddings over the summer. All staff and students have been nothing but professional. Food and drink has been excellent. Best kept secret in seattle catering. The food was amazing, the staff was professional and punctual, and everything was SO incredibly inexpensive. The coordinator at RTC was quick to respond to my emails and phone calls, and sent me multiple confirmation emails to ease my worrying. The only thing I would recommend: we were told we would get all of the leftover food (there was a lot) if we brought tupperware. We did bring it, and gave the tupperware to the students, but they threw the food away. That was a little irritating, but other than that, everything was amazing. read more

Writing this review is making me hungry, thinking of the absolutely delicious food we had on our wedding day! RTC as our caterer was our secret gem! If you are looking for a wedding catering option that is affordable, high quality and delicious, RTC is your go-to. We literally saved thousands of dollars. Catering a wedding for ~150 people with four choices of appetizers, buffet-style dinner (with three meat options - chicken, salmon and prime rib), non-alochol drinks, and linen rentals all for UNDER $7k is unheard of nowadays! Actually, I believe we had a price estimate for 180 people, so that it accommodated seconds for our ~150 guests! Brides, for these options, you'll find that RTC is MUCH more affordable than other typical catering companies. We worked with a different person from the college when we first contacted RTC, but eventually worked with Tamara, who was wonderful to work with. She was timely in responding to our questions and also emailed to check-in as our wedding day grew closer. While they don't do private tastings, RTC offers dinner buffet tastings quarterly to curate your menu. We also loved supporting the culinary students of RTC, they were all very attentive and kind, their service was impeccable! I hired them to cater my wedding and I am so happy I did. Not only was the food delicious, but they really came through in a pinch. I had worked with Colleen over the phone and spent tons of time arranging everything, and they were always so knowledgeable and never made me feel like I was annoying them. I also had them do my cake, which turned out fabulous as well. (And all of this for about half the cost of regular caterers!) Our wedding was January 20th, 2012, and in case you forgot a snowstorm had hit and the entire city of Issaquah, not to mention Renton was out of power or closed. I had vendors cancelling on us left and right (the DAY of the wedding mind you!) That morning as I got my hair done, I received a call from the catering school. I was cringing because I was thinking "oh lord if they cancel on us too we are really screwed!". But nope! It was Dean (I think that's his name) calling to ask if the wedding was still on. His exact words were "The school is closed today, but I've got staff willing to come, and if you're still on, We are still on". RTC catered my wedding on 9/5/14 and the food was excellent. I was delirious with joy when they said my date was open to book them and their prices are extremely reasonable. We did the pasta buffet and everyone seemed to really like the food. Many people went back for seconds. My mom raved over the presentation and how fresh the fruits and veggies were. The cost was at least $10 a head cheaper than any other caterer I contacted and included cupcakes. If you want off the wall high end gourmet food, they are not going to be right for you, but it you want solidly good home style cooking, they are fantastic. They left the kitchen spotless clean, my only nitpick would be that I wish they would have bussed the tables better. I was the bride and I started picking up empty glasses and bottles off people's tables myself. My coordinator rushed over within seconds and got them on it very quickly. Renton Tech catered our youth baseball fund raising event recently and it could not have been better or more efficient. Food was delicious (their Northwest Buffet), hot, presented very professionally. They went above and beyond bussing tables and lighting the hundreds of little votive candles on the tables, without even being asked. At the end of the evening you would never have known anyone had been in the kitchen of our rental facility, and as someone who has spent every year for the past 17 personally cleaning that kitchen after our "do it yourselft catering", that alone was worth it. You can't beat the cost nor the convenience. Their catering contact, Colleen at Renton Tech, is terrific and helpful, offering advice and hints that come from vast experience. And I like to think that while we're helping our youth baseball team, we're also helping young people advance themselves in their chosen profession. The staff that came and set-up and served were hard working, professional and you could tell took pride in what they did.
