To be clear, I am not a customer of Pyramid, rather a guest at a recent event. Overall, they seemed to do a decent job, and the servers were very pleasant. What appeared to be the on-site leaders were less impressive. They were stressed, were challenged to keep food on the buffet after half the attendees went through, were yelling loudly from the buffet line as guests were wincing and turning an ear away, and just a bit too abrupt for a wedding environment. None of the food overly impressed me, although some was decent, like the salmon. What appeared to be bbq chicken was so over cooked, I couldn't get it down with a glass of water. Lots of great reviews here, so not looking to take away from the great experiences people have had. Based on my experience, I have a higher bar. Good, not great. read more

Pyramid was chosen from our previous venue's pre-approved catering list. We loved the Pacific Rim dinner at the tasting, and we were impressed with Ben's knowledge and experience with planning weddings and other large events. He was very responsive and great at providing suggestions for the event schedule and alternatives to menu items. Sadly, our original venue, the UW Botanical gardens, had to cancel on us with about a month left until the wedding due to covid-19 restrictions at UW. We were fortunately able to find a new venue at Dunn Gardens. Ben was so flexible and accommodating. Though Pyramid had less experience with Dunn, he ensured that his team had a plan for the day of. The operations and logistics manager Pedro personally went to the new venue to survey it and plan the layout for our day right away! We received a new catering workbook shortly afterwards from Pedro. Pedro was fantastic! The catering workbook he made was practically flawless! He was patient in explaining what I needed to do as the client, such as ordering a banquet license, paying separately for renting the toasting glasses, etc. He was very organized and efficient! The food was also fantastic! Everyone at our wedding loved it! The chicken with the chutney was very popular. We were able to accommodate both our gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian guests with the tasty menu! All the staff were very organized and efficient. We had a great experience working with Pyramid Catering as our wedding caterer. We chose the Northwest Buffet, and it was a really big hit at our wedding! We got so many compliments on the food, and my husband and I are still dreaming of the bowtie pasta and the salmon. The catering staff were really professional as well. Ben, Michael, and the whole team were very responsive and fun to work with. They are flexible and willing to work with your budget and needs. We especially loved our tasting dinner with Ben as we got to know him and the company better. We cannot recommend Pyramid catering enough after having them cater our wedding. First Pedro was fantastic to work with. He is so quick to respond, thorough, and was great at making recommendations when we weren't sure what we wanted. He was one of our favorite vendors to communicate with out of everyone for our wedding. We were also so happy with the food. We had a buffet dinner for 200 people and they did a great job of getting everyone through the buffet quickly. And not only did we think the food tasted great, but had multiple guests tell us how fantastic the food was. We also had a decent amount of people with food restrictions and they were able to help us create a menu that accommodated most people and they made a special plate for one guest who had many food restrictions. And last, their bar service was amazing. We provided the alcohol and their bartenders mixed 2 cocktails for us and served beer and wine. We received so many compliments about the bartenders. If there was an option for a higher rating than five stars, I would give it. Our wedding reception was comprised of a two story historic location and had many elements that were handled like clock work by Pyramid Catering. We were personal friends with almost all of our other vendors, so hiring catering was something I thought would be stressful, however it couldn't have been easier. Ben and his whole staff, servers & bartenders, made our day so very special! Ben went above and beyond with his guidance and advice through the food planning and even with planing details unrelated to food. His flexibility and promptness made the whole process much less stressful than I had anticipated. I have to tell you that not only have our guests been telling us that the food was amazing, but that it was the best they've ever had at a wedding! The servers helped everyone have a good time, were thoughtful, very friendly and very professional. I couldn't have hand picked a better group. It's one thing for guests to rave about decor of how great the food was but when they are telling me how nice, fun, outgoing professional the staff was... I was even more impressed. They catered to husband and I, and I am very thankful for that but the red carpet treatment was extended to our guests in the same fashion and made a huge impact on the experience everyone had. We had multiple people are coming up to find me and tell me how nice the servers and bartenders were and how much they loved the food from appetizers to all of the options and presentation. We chose Pyramid to cater our daughter's wedding. Honestly, we could not be more pleased. Start to finish they exceeded expectations. First of all, the food was outstanding. We had SO many compliments about the food. 60 plus people shared nothing but positives. 4 vegan people marveled about the quinoa stuffed sweet potatoes. Equally important, the people were great. They are incredibly communicative and easy to work with. They are incredibly affordable and honestly should be charging double to triple. Then leading up to the wedding we worked with Michael, and he was amazing. Organized, detail-oriented, and super helpful in coordinating what we wanted with the venue and the staff. I used Ben and his team for our wedding a few years ago and guests are still raving about the food. When I got put in charge of the holiday party for work, I called them up again, and once again, they delivered. About 5 minutes before the party was scheduled to start, the power went out and did not come back on for the rest of the night (gotta love December in WA). We were lucky that the venue had a large fireplace as well as a grill out back. The caterers were able to cook/reheat all the sides over the fireplace and cook the meat on the grill. Everything turned out great and the food was just as good as I remembered. We were all impressed by their dedication and ingenuity to make our party a success. We used Pyramid Catering for my daughters wedding on 5/30. It was not a 5 star event because the food they delivered was not what she spent 7 months planning for! When the appetizers started coming out we noticed a problem because all 3 appetizer were completely wrong! When we checked the rest of buffet offerings we found the pasta dish, the potato dish and the beef dish were all incorrectly prepared and the fish dish was completely wrong! On the plus side the buffet chicken dish, the green salad, veggie and fruit salad were all correct and the late evening snacks were all correct and delicious! The kitchen staff, the servers and bar staff were excellent in all aspects of our event from start to finish! When we first started taking with Ben about the problems with the food that we ended up with, his comment to my daughter was that he does 250 event a year and sometimes this happens and he was sorry that it happened to her on her special day! We were able tp reach a reasonable refund accommodation to our satisfaction and without much drama! I only hope that Pyramid Catering and Ben have learned from this BAD experience because we sure have! read more

Our experience with Pyramid Catering for our wedding was excellent and we would recommend their catering services. From our initial inquiry Ben was always very responsive and he quickly prepared a preliminary quote for us. Before and after hiring Pyramid we were able to attend tastings where we sampled some of their offerings. This made creating a specific menu for our reception very easy since we knew exactly what we were getting. Michael also worked with us to set up our catering workbook and rentals and provided guidance on reception setup. On the wedding day the food was fantastic and their staff did an excellent job with the entire catering experience. This review is for the service that I've received from Pyramid Catering. I am planning a wedding in 5 months and really wanted to use a catering company that I picked instead of picking a venue with in-house catering (with subpar food). I feel like it gives us more flexibility with the menu and the quality is higher. I contacted Ben Jablonsky (owner) to RSVP for their open house. He replied promptly and sounded very friendly on his email. Even before the open house, he contacted me to ask about the food that I want for the wedding and my vision (Nobody has asked me that before!). I told him the food that I want (we're both foodies so we want really good food) and also told him that being Asian, we want our "cultural" food there. He was so receptive of my ideas and even knew some of the traditional Filipino food that's always in weddings. He was also fast to give us a quote for the food that we want and it's soooo much more reasonable and affordable than in-house catering (coz in-house catering knows that if you're in love with their venue, their food can be sub-par and expensive and you'll just have to suck it up) The problem I ran into is finding a space that allows outside catering. This is the only reason why we didn't end up booking with his company. When I told him that, he helped look for event locations for us. There really wasn't much with the time, so we did end up doing our wedding in a venue with in-house catering. (we found one with great food!) Despite not tasting his food, I fully recommend Pyramid catering. By the way Ben runs his business, I'm sure that he will cater to whatever you want to make your day a special one. I used Pyramid Catering to cater my wedding in September of 2011. They had some good points and some bad. Good: The food was good, hands down. I had lots of out of town guests that were really impressed, saying that this wasn't "wedding food," which is pretty awesome. It was fairly inexpensive as well, although I didn't do too much comparing/ price checking. Bad: Be ready to discuss everything down to the penny. I wanted a caterer to simplify the occasion- I was looking at it as a big party. I communicated that several times with the owner, Ben, especially when we were talking about alcohol ordering. My family and friends drink a lot. This was all communicated, but Ben still only staffed one person. The bar line was steady and long the whole night. Additionally, Ben was really easy to get a hold of to communicate with before booking, but after booking, it took him over a month to send us some papers (like the alcohol purchase guidelines) that he had promised by the end of the week. He was very busy, and I think that took a toll on his ability to remember the type of event I was describing (loud, lots of people, lots of drinks. We're Irish). Overall, can't complain about the food at all, but working with Ben requires some patience. read more

Ben, Emily, and the Pyramid Catering Team went above and beyond with their outstanding service! Ben helped us with planning things that went beyond food and drinks - venue set up, timeline, etc. On the day of, the Pyramid Team helped to clean up things that they weren't responsible for - even going so far as to transport something that belonged to us, not them, after the reception was over. There were several things on the day-of that they "upgraded" without telling us, or charging us, and the catering staff was friendly and professional, never in the way. To be clear, the food was good (several guests went out of their way to say so) and presented well, but it wasn't a five-star restaurant (but hey, for the price, it was great). We hired Pyramid Catering for our baby shower being hosted at our house and they were so amazing! The team was able to accommodate their menu to our Cinco de Mayo themed baby shower and the food was delicious! We had two staff members during the event and they made sure that the food stayed warm, beverages were fully stocked, trash cans were emptied, and plates/cups were picked up. At the end of the event, they cleaned everything up and took the trash with them which was a lifesaver because we had no room in our trash can after the baby shower. Our experience with Pyramid Catering was positive from start to finish. They provided food and bartending services for our wedding in April and everything was perfect. We chose our favorite buffet menu off the website and then changed 2 or 3 of the entrees to agree more with my vegetarian diet. Pyramid was willing to change anything we wanted on the menu, which was very nice. We attended two of their open houses before our event for a chance to taste a lot of their best menu items and decide whether we wanted to include those items at our wedding. The open houses were always enjoyable and the food was always delicious! Come wedding day, there were two things that stuck out in my mind. One was when I had come inside to sit down (sitting is rare when you're the bride) while everyone else was still enjoying the sunny weather outside. I was slouching on the couch and looking nervous, I'm sure, for the upcoming ceremony. The bartenders were in the same room setting up for the cocktail hour and asked if I needed a drink (alcoholic or otherwise). It was so thoughtful of them, especially because they stopped what they were doing to make sure I was happy. Two was after we went through the buffet line and I was about to go upstairs to the reception hall. One of Pyramid's staff kindly asked if she could carry my plate for me so that I could walk up the stairs in my wedding dress without spilling on myself. That was completely unexpected and so awesome! The rest of the night was flawless and I never heard any complaints about the service or the food. Went with Ben and his team for our wedding reception. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. We got a many compliments on how great food was. We wanted a lot of custom things to happen with the menu so went with the bid that we thought could best accommodate our requests. They were very open to working with us and making everything we wanted happen. On the event night, due to the teams lack of familiarity with the venue there were a couple of minor hiccups with the staff knowing the inventory well and moving equipment (tables, etc) out of the venue. I would say overall though, i would recommend their services and would use them again, but just making sure they are familiar and comfortable with the venue and venue rules. read more

When I was looking for a caterer for my brother's celebration of life event, there were few that would return my phone calls or respond to rfqs. Ben responded promptly was was extremely easy to work with and helpful. I had very specific plans in mind and Ben was able to accommodate every detail. On day of the event Ben's 3 staff were excellent. They handled everything without me having to direct or manage anything. From set up to clean up they were great. The food was very good and we had plenty of leftovers. The only negative is that Pyramid doesn't have an alcohol license, so I had to order from Bev Mo, but that probably saved me money. read more

We had a mix of carnivores and vegetarians at our event and everyone walked away saying how amazing the food tasted, and we had some serious foodies at our wedding. I can't say enough about Pyramid Catering. We used them for our July wedding and I honestly don't think I could have done it without them. I planned my wedding from Virginia so had to go on faith more often than not, luckily I found Ben and his amazing company. Not only was he very patient with my many menu changes, but he also designed the set up, ordered the rentals and coordinated with the venue. On the actual day, I literally did nothing. His staff took care of absolutely everything, even helped my DOC with the decorations. My husband and I attribute 99% of the overwhelming success of the day to him and his team. Now, as for the food. I will be honest and say I don't really remember much about it. I was distracted... But I have heard nothing but amazing things from guests including the 10 - 12 professional chefs we had in attendance. And there strong approval is more than enough for me. We have not had them cater our wedding reception yet (we got married in March 2010, just haven't had the reception and ceremony yet due to the Navy) but we've booked and attended their open house, and they are FABULOUS! The first time we made contact, I made an appointment for food tasting at their office with Ben, the owner. I forgot to mention on my email that there would be 4 of us coming so on the way there I called him. He told me that he wasn't expecting 4 people so we would have to share so we said, oh of course, it's no big deal. Turned out, we couldn't even finish any of the dishes he served us, there were PLENTY of food and all of them were delicious and affordable! We signed the contract on the spot. Fast forward about 6 months later, we got an invitation to attend their open house. We were pleasantly surprised to see how cute it was, he set it up so that it would look like a restaurant/small reception and to show us that the food is still fabulous even though it was brought to the venue. He presented 3 different buffets with passed appetizers and the food, once again, surprised us. It was SO good! Ben even remembered us, which was very nice to know and he is such a pleasant person to work with. I cannot say enough about how phenomenal Ben and his staff were. Ben had catered a friend's wedding last year and we were so impressed by the quality of the dinner menu at that wedding that we knew we wanted to have him cater our wedding. When we contacted him and shared that we wanted to do 'breakfast for dinner' at our evening wedding, we gave him all of the creative freedom to put together a menu without any input from us. What he came up with was AMAZING and DELICIOUS. We were blown away at our tasting by pork belly & egg sliders, maple cayenne bacon, steak breakfast burritos, lox & cream cheese, and so many other delicious items. At our tasting we also realized that Ben is basically a wedding planner - he designed the table layout for our event based on the actual venue space, had all of our linen color options as well as glassware, flatware and silverware ready to choose that very day. We built out a sample table setting and were really able to begin envisioning our wedding. He also let us provide our own alcohol for our wedding which was a huge savings. The staff who was on site for our wedding was led by Rita, s an absolute joy & incredibly professional. She came the day before the wedding to set up all of the table cloths and napkins and we were able to work out additional logistics together since our head count changed the week leading up to our wedding (190 guests). On the day of the wedding she was sure to bring us plates of food to make sure we ate, our champagne glasses early for toasts and made a game time call to break down the buffet early enough for toasts to begin without breaking down tables while they were happening. She was so thoughtful and we were so lucky to have her there running the show. Plus, the food was AMAZING and our guests absolutely LOVED it. We had rave reviews all throughout the evening.
