He has been throwing frequent violent fits, shooting his truck through the parking lot, and threatening other tenants. Many of us have pressured the management company to evict this dangerous man, but they have sat on their hands and done nothing. Since please to this management company have not gone anywhere, I assumed a call from a lawyer would prompt them to do something. I applied for help for this case with Nevada Legal Services by filling out their online form. I quickly received an email assigning me a reference number and an outline of what would happen next. After not hearing from them for two weeks, I called them up to ask them what was going on with my application. I talked to a young woman who could not find my application. She said they must have deleted it, which I find hard to believe. Why would they delete an application that they had not addressed, and why delete it at all? The young woman then did everything to brush me off, as if I was someone they did not want to deal with. She insisted they were not going to help me, even though she could not find my application or any reference the situation and would not let me state my case. I was hurried off the phone. That Nevada Legal Services would treat such a matter in an unprofessional and comletely incompetent way is astounding. Myself and my fellow tenants are facing a situation in which someone may get hurt, serisouly hurt, like requiring an ambulance ride to an emergency room hurt. Someone here may even get killed becuse of the situation. That any legal service would casually brush off such a pleas without any regard to a potential client, or simply lose an application due to incompetence is just beyond any remotely reasonable expectation one would expect from a group of professionals who are supposed to help the public. These people are beyond incompetent and uncaring. They shouldn't be allowed to practice law. And we still have a cold and dead maangement company who refuses to do anything about a tragedy waiting to happen.

I encountered several issues: 1. Unnecessary Escalation and Wasted Fees: Instead of scheduling a hearing, she sent an aggressive letter that I questioned. That she never followed through with the deadline she set on 2/28. This wasted time and money. I was billed $1,400 for the letter, $800 for a hostile phone call, and hundreds more for administrative tasks. 2. Lack of Progress: After filing a notice in January, no substantial work was done for months and zero documents were filed on my case. Once I terminated her services(4/28), the case started moving the next day. Also Once I requested her removal from my case, no action was taken for an entire day. I proceeded to file the notice of withdrawal myself and within minutes, Ms. Halstead began filing unnecessary documents under my case, which she continued the following day. She has since sent me emails justifying her filings despite confirmation from the courthouse that they were indeed unnecessary. 3. Misleading Billing Practices: My final bill totaled $4,684.62. Instead of refunding the unused portion of my $2,000 retainer, her office applied a "credit" to create the illusion of a discount. 4. Unprofessional Conduct: Ms. Halstead responded with hostility to a routine inquiry and billed me $800 for the call.
