Our house was built in 1939. We had 6 windows replaced for $9000. They were tiny, poorly installed and downright disappointing. The installers didn't speak English, damaged our yard with their truck and left pieces of wood and plastic in our yard. They left white marks on my freshly installed wood floors I did myself. It was caulk they stepped in and tracked through the house. It was gunked on steps in basement and walls. I called and sent pictures of their destruction but Richmond Windows didn't care and no one returned our calls. I tell everyone who stops by our store about them and show them pictures. Waste of time and money. Avoid if you don't want to fix yourself. Our warranty has been broken as they refused to repair the caulk that has started to come away from windows. Not happy. I am reviewing Renewal by Andersen Richmond. I paid $12K for a replacement set of patio doors and expected doors with no quality issues at that price. The sale and financing portions were very well done. Installation was also pretty easy after a lengthy production time. Problem came when I noticed a large area of small dust like debris that looked like a spider web inside one of the windows when the morning sun came thru. I called customer service and they took pictures. I received a call saying my replacement "doors" were on order. When install happened, only one door was installed - not the one I had complained about. Further discussion resulted in more technician picture taking, but there was never anyone who could arrive early morning to capture the "dust" in the morning light. However, door that was replaced has an interior (between the glass) mark and they are denying it was there when installed. Not sure how I can be responsible for a between the glass defect. Renewal advertises that they provide the single point (install, manufacture) responsibility, but I feel that is actually a negative if hiding behind their own product. I have not found them to stand by their product quality. I found their various departments just put up the same walls as separate companies without the incentive of satisfying a customer that a supplier normally has. I've requested that my complaint be acknowledged by the manager, but they will not provide any names or phone numbers of supervisors or quality personnel who are making these determinations. I had planned to follow up with replacement windows, but I don't feel the "quality" or customer service is anywhere near the extra price. August 16, 2024, the contract in question appears in my mailbox from a lawyer's office. The date on the contract is 6/28/24. I had no opportunity to cancel. The only thing I received before 8/16/24, was the addendum; but even that was not received in my inbox until 7/12/24. Very frustrated. read more

We have a 1966 home with 19 windows and a front door that have needed replacement for years, but we didn't think we could afford it. About 5 yrs ago we got into, then quickly out of a contract with a co that used the hard sell tactic. So at this point we were wary of dealing with home improvement companies for fear of another pressure sale experience. Encountered Renewal by Andersen by happenstance when we were at our local Plesant's buying wood stain. We decided we had nothing to lose, so we made an appointment to meet with one of their representatives. Tony, our design consultant, arrived on time, and was so laid back and easy to deal with. Our Boxer liked him, which was also a good sign. Tony really knew his product and the industry. He took his time with us, listening to our needs and educating us along the way as we drafted our window plan. We were able to get financing at a super low interest rate of 2.9%. The measure tech team were awesome. They were meticulous - measuring each window twice to ensure a perfect custom fit. These weren't one size fits all windows that come from a warehouse to be installed the next week, so we were totally ok with waiting 2 months for the windows to be custom made for our house. The install team, lead by Daniel, were clearly seasoned, experienced professionals. They got the job done right and kept a clean work site. They skillfully dealt with the challenges our old house gave them, such as a bit of wood rot and a quirky old front door opening, at no extra charge to us. The finished product was amazing! Our old house got the facelift it so badly needed. I hate to even cover the windows with shades or curtains. They're too pretty! Haha! We can't wait to reap the energy savings benefits, either. When we're ready, we definitely plan to reach out to Renewal by Andersen installed by Richmond Window Corp. for our remaining 3 exterior doors. read more

If you care about your home, and your pockets, stay away from them. I changed my door, they tore a hole on my wall never fixed it. Ruined the plate for my light switch ( easy fix) so we fixed that ourselves. Within a week the border support for the door ripped off. Weeks later they came to fix it. Door knob is broken still waiting for them to come out. The screen door does not close properly. Over all it is not a good idea to use them. I do not recommend them at We are still waiting, not only have we made repeating reschedules due to the fact they simply do not show up. The salesman was terrific. We actually believed what he told us about the quality of the Renewal By Anderson product. The staff at Richmond Windows is unfailingly polite. BUT: The service is absolutely and ridiculously terrible. Everyone associated with our project has a wealth of excuses as to why they can't deliver windows ready-to-install. For the 4th time, an installation was scheduled and for the 4th time we were told that they window to be installed had a defect. This is crazy making. Under no circumstances should you consider doing business with Renewal By Anderson or Richmond Windows. Do yourself a favor. Call Pella. They are slightly less expensive and they deliver windows that are in perfect order the first time. read more

This company is a disgrace and should be avoided at all costs. We replaced every window and door at the cost of 55k only to have a complete disaster from beginning to end. 14 service calls and 18 months later they just completed the work in mid December 2022. Last night I discovered yet another problem, a dent in a door panel they changed out in December. They're a bunch of amateurs that were not prepared any of the 14 times they were at our home. I basically had to project manage their team for them to make sure they had everything covered. We should have gone to Pella instead. Incidentally, Pella were very interested in our horrible experience with Richmond Window Corporation when I spoke with them recently. Waste of time. I want to replace the patio door in my mother-in-law's house. They wanted me to set aside 60 to 90 minutes with all owners of the property present for an appointment to measure one door (five minutes max to measure) and would not even come out unless all homeowners would be present. Sounds like they want to force a pushy sale pitch. I explained that I would be writing the check and my 85 year-old mother in law would not be involved. They were not even willing to give an estimate unless they could talk to (which to me means be pushy with) an old lady. Does not seem like a reputable way to do business to me. Glad I did not let them talk to my mother-in-law. Update: Now that they have my number they keep calling. Each call they confirmed they won't come out unless they can sell to owner. They even called from an auto dialer that hung up on me because they did not have someone available to work the call on their end. Marketing is too aggressive for the product to be any good... Reminds me of a time share pitch. I blocked their number and hopefully don't hear from them again... read more

Totally impressed with every aspect of the experience. THIS is what a contractor should be like. The Sales interface was extremely thorough and complete without being at all pushy. The installers (Daniel and his crew) absolutely top-notch. We already had a neighbor (who is a real estate agent) give a compliment and inquire about who we used. They worked through some extreme heat without hesitation or complaint and were clean and considerate. Are they a bit pricey - yeah. Did we get what we paid for - you bet and then some! read more

This is my first review and I'm only reviewing this company because I feel obligated to let people know that these are the most expensive windows you will ever buy. I contacted this company for a free estimate and somebody from the store came out to my home on a Tuesday night and was there for 2 hours. They requested that both me and my wife be present for the entire duration of the estimate and this is because the whole goal of the consultation is to sell you their high priced windows and get you to sign a sales agreement right away. We both just got home from work. We have a 2-year-old son who needed to eat dinner, my wife is 8 months pregnant, and yet there was no effort on the sales consultant to alter his sales pitch or cut to the chase and let us know that a window installation with their company costs about 5 times as much as a typical window installer. He made us watch a video, did a whole sales presentation on his own, and kept asking us if we thought Andersen was a great company. It was a truly terrible experience. This company makes a big deal about being in the business for over 56 years but that just means that their sales tactics are archaic, unforgiving and time consuming. It was like they were selling us a timeshare. In the end, their estimate to replace the 18 windows in our home was $35,000. We could put in an outdoor patio for that price. And when we expressed shock at the estimate (and who wouldn't?) the sales consultant seemed angry and surprised that we could be so shocked. We had been given another estimate from another company that was $20,000 less and he kept saying, "well you get what you pay for. You said you wanted a quality window but maybe you don't" Needless to say, we did not go forward with them. Do not be fooled by this company. They do not care about the quality of window they provide or how it will help in cutting energy costs in your home, or anything like that. They want to sell you an exorbitantly high priced window. And the previous reviewer was right, you only cry one when you buy from Andersen, but you probably never stop. read more

Richmond Window SUCKS!! They sent a rude, incompetent installer to install our replacement window, he damaged our floors and Richmond Window has yet to offer us any solution to the issue. They have quotes to fix it and I have yet to hear back from anyone since. I still have another window I order yet to be installed but they want me to pay to the contract in full without finishing the job or fixing my floors. DO NOT USE RICHMOND WINDOW. I am here to post my experience with Renewal by Andersen. Today at dinner time, my doorbell rang. I answered it and there was a man on my doorstep who I did not know. He told he has just finished installing windows for my neighbor "Mrs. Smith" (we have nobody on this street with that last name) and he had noticed a LOT of houses needed new windows he was going door to door to "help people out" and started asking me questions about my home. I told him I was making dinner and we were not interested in replacing our windows. He immediately got very defensive, told me he was "just trying to help people" and resumed his sales pitch. At this point, I just replied that I really wasn't interested and needed to go. He started to raise his voice to talk over me, and that's when I closed the door. I heard him sarcastically yell, "WELL THANKS A LOT!" through the door. Later I noticed he had stuck a notice on my door that was clearly meant to look like a FedEx/UPS missed delivery slip which included much of the same sales pitch on it. From my limited interaction with this company, it was obvious they are slimy, hard-sell, solicitors who should be avoided. Read reviews, do research, and steer clear of this company. read more

I was seeking window replacement for our 25 year old home. This company has regularly sent me mailings/emails/put things on my door so I requested an appt. One week went by, & last Sunday evening at 6:45pm while sitting at a restaurant, I received a call from Anderson windows to talk about my needs. I told them no, we were not having the conversation now, it's Sunday & it's dinner time. (At this point, I already had completed consults w/ other providers earlier in the week). The next day a different person called back. I decided to school them - I kind of felt sorry for them as the company is spending so much money on marketing - gets a lead, waits a week & then acts like a nuisance. NEVER RECEIVED. I called 3x to request to quote, they said they had and would have someone call or I could make another apt. Told them I just wanted the quote you guaranteed on your advertisement. Nothing. No call and no quote. Emailed them 3x asking for quote, even emailed person that came to house- no response whatsoever. I went to Home Depot in Fredericksburg, Va. had apt in 4 days, person on time gave me quote and set up installation. Sent me quote while at my home and I paid in full that day. It took 133 Days to have our $1700.00 bathroom window delivered and installed from the time we signed the Sales Agreement. Let me tell you about the Sales Agreement. About 12 pages covers aspects of the installation, the time-frame (60-90 days was ours), and legal terms (I'll get to that later). The Sales Agreement is for them (Andersen Renewal and RWC) and NOT YOU or I it seems. You see, once you sign it, you've agreed to the sale and installation of Window/s - on their terms. Upon signing, you've agreed that RWC can deliver and install that window, 3 months from the signing to say 1 to 10 years from the signing. You can't fire them for non-delivery either. We tried - then I re-read the Sales Agreement we signed. There's no backing out of it. It's an open-ended Sales Agreement. Legal Terms - You can't terminate the Sales Agreement, not even for non-delivery or non-performance - If you do, you could be taken into litigation by RWC and you also could be on the hook to pay court costs and their legal expenses to boot. In fact, the only party able to cancel and terminate the Sales Agreement is RWC. To be fair, there is a 3-day cancellation clause. We wish we'd have known there were 130 more days to go then, I'll tell you. It was only after my Wife wrote Andersen Renewal asking for a refund that we finally heard from RWC. They claimed via email correspondence that they'd been trying to reach us using an incorrect phone number and email address. We found this especially troubling since our contact information was on EVERY page of the Sales Agreement. Throughout the 133 day wait, starting at the 90 day mark, we made several attempts to find out where our window was as we had a bathroom down to the wall studs the entire time. The line was dead, on their end anyway. Never heard back from any of them till we wanted our deposit money. Afterward, we wrote Anderson Renewal, we told them of our Sales experience. We submitted a copy of the Sales Agreement, email correspondences and receipt. They wrote us back to state they'd shared this information with RWC. Wish they too would've had to climb in and out of our soaking tub to bathe for that 133 day period. A customer should never be requested to sign a Sales Agreement without a termination clause for non-delivery or non-performance. We are unable provide favorable reference. read more

In fact, we've had the same sales rep both times and he was knowledgeable and professional. Stevie and his installation team were timely, professional and neat. I initiated contact with Renewal by Andersen to investigate a sliding patio door. With Andersen windows throughout the house, we wanted complimentary slider. My husband does the maintenance work for the house but I thought buying the slider and installation service would relieve some of his work. personnel were nice & though a bit expensive ($5,000), we were ready for quality job. Not so- the minute the door was installed this past March, I noted to the installer how plastic and cheap it looked. the threshold is a trip hazard and it doesn't match our windows. I reported immediately with pictures that the weatherstripping was not correct by the door handle. DO NOT use this company. if things go wrong, they ignore your calls, texts and emails. read more

My review is only for the sales process and pricing. The salesman was perfect friendly and the presentation, while a lot longer than necessary, provided a good education on replacement windows. That said, the price was literally DOUBLE those quoted by other companies for comparable quality replacement windows. I'm sure Richmond Window will note that only Anderson uses their patented framing material, but the truth is that they on par with a handful of other high-end windows. After my fiance was too nice to tell their door to door guy no. I called the company to verify the legitimacy of the canvassing. They said they would call or email me and they never did so I cancelled the consultation... Then the sales rep still showed up, while I was eating dinner, claiming that no one from the company texted. I told him I was sorry that his company didn't do their job but that wasn't my fault. He still tried to convince me to do the consultation and when I said no again he leaned back peaked at one of my windows and was said something like are you sure because these windows look awful... Even though I was insaulted I still nicely told him no again... Then after all that they called me again an addressed me as Mr Aldaz. There is nothing like being called by your fiance's exhusband's last name to make you want to buy something... I replied with no... And then they asked if my wife was there to which I replied who is this because they never identified themselves. Thats when I realized they were trying to to talk to my fiance and get around me because I told them no... After this experience there is no chance in hell I will ever use this company to replace my windows. I won't even use Anderson at all! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy windows from Richmond Window 12 years ago I purchased 7 windows installed upstairs and paid a ridiculous price (my fault). The windows were supposed to have a 20 year warranty. Over the past 3 years I have noticed condensation forming on 3 of the 7 windows in the same room. I finally got around to calling them about the warranty. They set up an appointment me for today (12/4/17). Then they call me on Friday (12/1/17) and tell me that it will be an $80 service charge to come out and look at the windows. I told them I wouldn't pay it. Long story short, Paige Ewell, the owner gets on the phone and tells me why I have condensation on my 3 windows without ever coming out to look at the windows. He finally agrees to send someone out without charge. Their installation supervisor shows up with some guy in tow and he looks at the windows all the while giving me a host of reasons, not the same ones as the owner gave, as to why there is condensation. What it all boils down to, they do not stand behind their warranty. They are refusing to fix my windows. I got tired of listening to him talk down to me so I told him to leave. DO NOT buy windows from Richmond Window aka Renewal By Anderson. You WILL be disappointed! Contrary to what they say they DO NOT STAND BY THEIR WARRANTY. read more

Not real happy at present. 30 days after installation and some issues are not resolved . I don't know if its Richmond Window or Anderson that is the problem. There is a cosmetic problem with the window exterior that does not seem to be resolved. I would not buy a new car with streaks in the finish, neither do I expect to see it in the window exterior. I called Renewal by Andersen to replace 3 windows in my townhouse. I called to set up a consultation. It took several attempts just for the scheduler to get my name and contact info correct in order to proceed (I spelled my name four times for him). When he finally got it right, I was asked what kind of job I was looking to get done in my home. I explained that I wanted 3 windows in a townhouse replaced and the scheduler then said "Ummmm....we don't do townhouses. The quality of our windows is higher than that." So, I cannot attest to the quality of work that this company provides, but felt that this response was unprofessional and rude. read more
