Brought my husband here as a part 2 for his birthday and it didn't disappoint. We were at the same room as last time I came with my bestie. The bathroom here is clean and I love that they have water. I got the man and my husband got the woman. I felt this time he was much more gentle while still getting out all the kinks on my back and body. We tipped well above the recommended amount for good service and will definitely be back. read more

I came in today excited to get a massage, but unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the service I received. I booked a 75-minute massage that included a foot massage, but my session ended about 15 minutes early, and the foot massage was never provided. My friend also paid for an additional 15-minute foot massage, and despite asking about it, it was skipped as well. To make matters worse, my massage therapist was noticeably sick. She was coughing and sniffling throughout the entire session, which made for a very uncomfortable experience. Massage therapy is such a close, personal service, and I don't think it's appropriate for visibly ill staff to be treating guests. I have an upcoming trip, and now I'm worried about getting sick myself. Finally, the experience at the front desk left a bad impression. The receptionist was rude and even pressured me to leave a higher tip. Tipping is optional, and no guest should feel pressured or guilted into leaving more than they choose. Overall, this experience was disappointing from start to finish. I hope Renew Spa takes these concerns seriously by ensuring guests receive the full services they pay for, preventing sick employees from working directly with clients, and providing better customer service at the front desk. Please do better, Renew Spa. read more

I got a 60 minute massage coupon off of Groupon. I tried to call twice across two different days and nobody picked up so I showed up in person to book an appointment. It didn't seem too busy and they seem to have a lot of availability in case anybody else is wondering about their walk-ins. I will note they did ask me to pay a five dollar Groupon tax at the beginning of my appointment. They did have a sign for tip policy where the suggested was a minimum of $15 for a 60 minute service. I tipped $15 and they did not beg for tips after which I was a bit anxious about. Anyways, ask for my massage my masseuse was great. She checked in a lot to see if the pressure was ideal. I went with medium strength and it was pretty good. I honestly think I could've gone a little bit harder, but I've heard a lot of stories where massages can be really intense, so I was scared to choose the strongest strength. Overall, the massage was super relaxing and much needed. I would come again. read more

Excellent 60 minute foot rub with Jason on Saturday. This was my second visit to Renew, and this time I brought my husband. He was surprised how much he enjoyed the foot rub (also 60 minutes) followed by a 30 minute chair massage; both of his treatments were with Helen. I had no issues with paying by credit card, and came with cash for tipping. read more

This was my second visit. The massage is good, but the place is too noisy and not very relaxing. Also, the therapist kept burping loudly during the massage, which felt unprofessional. Customer service could definitely be better. read more

DO NOT go here, they are SCAMMERS! I used to go quite often & tonight they forced me to pay a 40% tip, which made me very uncomfortable. It's very sad because I used to recommend them to others, and now I'm telling everyone I know to never go again. They are terrible and very shady people. Their massages aren't even great, so you're better off going to Flushing. read more

I have been attending this spa for the past year and a half and have generally had positive experiences. I normally request Jason for my massages because he is very skilled and always does a great job. However, during my visit yesterday, I brought a friend to celebrate a birthday and was unable to give Jason the usual $15-$20 tip that I normally provide. To my surprise, he became upset and confronted me about it. What made the situation even more disappointing was that he did so in front of other customers. I found his behavior extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. Tips are appreciated, but they should never be expected or demanded. As a loyal customer, I was embarrassed by the way I was treated. Unfortunately, this experience has left a very negative impression, and I can no longer recommend this spa to others. I hope management addresses this matter to ensure no other customer is made to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed in the future. read more

I also booked this through Groupon and had already paid in full on the site. I was very confused when I walked in and they charged me another $5 in 'tax'. This is very strange and I've never experienced having to pay tax in addition to the tax I've paid online through Groupon. I got a massage from man of which I don't remember his name that was mediocre at best and then they yelled at me on my way out for not tipping. First of all, the massage wasn't good and now you're yelling at me. Of course I'm not going to tip now! I said consider that 'tax' that you scam people with the tip. Could not rate this place any lower. read more

I tried to post this on Groupon twice, but somehow it didn't show up. Got a Groupon for a 90 minute massage (the cost wasn't much less than their regular price) and when I arrived, I was asked to pay $8 "in tax" (not a usual request). I would have been fine with it if the massage had been good... but unfortunately it was subpar, the worst I've had in NYC thus far. It was clear that, while a sweet person, my masseuse was not trained in massage therapy. She just used brute force and elbow strength the whole time. There was so little variation in her moves -- just elbow moves for most of the 90 minutes and mostly on my back (I didn't even turn onto my back). In the moments that she did use her hands, her callouses made it pretty unpleasant. I get a massage once a week so I know what a good masseuse feels like now. I also enjoy medium to hard massages, but this was painful. I had to ask her to be softer 7 or 8 times, and she would for a minute before going hard again. In short, I would not recommend this spa... it's just pretty clear that at least this one masseuse (and probably others) was not accredited. I have a back injury so had I not told her to stop doing some things or to go softer, I might have risked further injury... read more

I was so pleasantly surprised that I'm giving all the stars! Woke up a block away and rolled on over to Renew where I was taken into a massage room right away, no appointment, o waiting. As a massage therapist and spa owner for 20+ years in a visitor destination I never expect too much but Renew delivered on all things. Clean, friendly, professional, very nice proficient skill for the work they are offering, great price. Fantastic. It is what it is and it delivered. Don't come in here expecting hotel spa amenities or vibe. Just come if you need a respite in the Big City. read more

Massage was good but the place smelled like mold!!!! I shortened my massage because I couldn't stand it and felt like I was actively getting stuffy during my massage. Not a relaxing environment at all either. Multiple people came in and out of my room while getting a massage and I could hear people talking loudly the whole time read more

The lady who massaged me was very sweet. Saw a previous review that said they charge a $5/pp "tax" fee, even tho we paid a tax already on Groupon and can confirm we got charged that tax. Also the beginning of the massage was with a towel (maybe around 10-15 min of towel massage) but I would have rather they just jumped straight into the essential oil massage portion because that felt like just a "warmup" to the actual massage. They wiped my feet with a wet towel before actually massaging it, which was nice because I wore flip flops walking all over NYC today, but then they started massaging my face and hair so I don't really know how hygienic that sequence was. It was really relaxing but ------ at the end I handed them $20 for a tip (I know it's not the most generous tip for two people but as a college student I don't have much funds to spare), and she pointed to a sign that had "suggested" tip amounts for one hour services based on how you think the masseuse did. $15 for good, $20 for great, $25 for excellent. She pointed at this sign and said "2 people. $20 one person" so obviously I felt bad and handed over another $20! But literally a minute after, a guy client came out the hallway and his masseuse pointed to the sign and asked for tip and the client said "Maybe next time" and walked out (without tipping I think). Honestly it was just crazy to see that and I know masseuses don't get paid enough for what they do, and I already got a good deal by paying with Groupon, but asking for a tip like that always feels awkward. Also they had a lot of massage rooms which was very interesting to see because it didn't look that big from the outside. It looks kinda shady from the outside but that's what you kinda expect. read more

If you are ever in New York you absolutely MUST try Renew Body Spa at 111 W 25th St! Seven of us received unforgettable massages!! We couldn't stop raving about it. The ambiance was nice, peaceful & clean. The masseuses were incredible. They didn't rush it, took their time. They took out knots I didn't know I had, lol. We were all very satisfied with our 1 hour massages. We paid after, they didn't beg for tips, & even though we wanted to tip our masseuses individually, they pool the tips together & share them among all of the workers. I highly recommend!!! 5 stars!! read more

(4/5) I went to Renew Spa for a hot stone massage with Jenny, and it was amazing! She was patient, attentive, and really focused on working out all those tension knots -- I left feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. On my next visit, I had a different therapist (a male masseuse), and the experience wasn't quite the same. He had a different style that didn't work as well for me, though I know everyone has their own technique. Overall, the spa itself is great, and I'd definitely go back -- especially if Jenny is available! read more

I enjoyed the massage. The lady did kinda beat me up a little with slapping my body a lot. The place looks decent. They required me to pay beforehand which is typically NOT normal for a service but whatever I paid for the entire service. At the end I give her a tip and she is forcing me to give her more. Respectfully I'm like no this is a SUGGESTED tip. She is saying no I'm required to tip this much. She is making it seem like i didn't pay for my service which i didn't appreciate. I picked up my phone to call my friend and I felt she was nervous I was recording her so she eased up her tone. I won't be going back because of how that situation regarding the tip was approached. You are not going to make me feel like I didn't pay for my service because you want to tell me how much MORE to tip?? A suggested tip for them is have better service! read more

Truly one of the best massages I've had in years! The gal who did my full body (60 min) massage did an amazing job. I am a little sore today but that's simply because I live in a world of stress that has created all these tiny knots across my neck and back. She found each one of them and tried her best to work them out. I feel so good today! I want to add a side note. I had left my mom's necklace there after my massage. I'd left it on a table and realized it about 2 hours later. OMG I cried and figured it was gone. My husband called immediately. They didn't have it but would go look. She found it! This is a diamond cross that my mom left me when she passed away! How easy could that have been lost forever....thank you for keeping it safe until I could get back to pick it up!! read more

Was pleasantly surprised. Spent $55 on a Groupon for a 90 min massage. Paid $8 in taxes and gave a $20 tip. $83 for a 90 min experience is on the cheaper side for massages. I recommend this place and will be coming back. read more

I will NEVERRR come here again or recommend coming here. Not only do they shorten the hour I paid for by 15min ( which was done twice)!!! they force a tip bcs 25$ apparently wasn't good enough. i told them where my pain was but that was ignored. i also asked if we can have a quite session ( I was so tired from work I just wanted to relax) as a paying customer my concerns were not understood. it was convenient bcs I work next door but NEVER EVERR AGAIN THEY NEED ALL STAFF read more

I came in today without appointment for a 20min neck/back massage (in-chair) on my lunch break. They had immediate availability, were very cordial and the masseur was fantastic! I highly recommend, and will be returning soon! read more

Groupon has never steered me wrong and they were on target with this one too. WHAT AN AMAZING 90 MINUTE DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE!!! I mean I knew it was real when she straddled my head and got deep into my back; I was in Heaven. And just to be sure it was 90min I set my own timer on my phone. She was about 15 seconds short, but who's counting . I feel all loosey goosey. Needless to say I will be back. And the card she gave she said was cheaper than Groupon as I am a member now. Yesssss ma'am. I'll be making another appointment for 2 weeks from today. read more

Me and my wife just went there and we give them 10* the place is amazing and make you walk out of there feeling like a million bucks!

I love coming here as it's so close to my job. I found it randomly through Groupon a little more than a year ago and have continued to visit since then. Everytime I come here I'm always satisfied by my masseuse and the service I received. I almost always get just a 60 minute massage. Every masseuse I've had here has known the amount of pressure just by my movements, I never have to explain what I need, they just KNOW. I can't recommend this place enough!! I've paid more for mediocre massages, and will always come back here read more

Pleasantly surprised and much needed after two days of walking 15k each around nyc. I found it on Yelp as we were already in chelsea. First the decor was nicer than expected given the pricing was inexpensive. $49 cash for half hour body and half hour foot reflexology. It's $54 if you use credit card. We paid $60 cash each. Started with foot. No soak but they rubbed our feet with warm clothes and started rubbing right away. I fell asleep in total bliss Then we went into a room for body massage. Usually this is just okay with places that cost little. My masseuse coco was great. Expert technique and got me all relaxed. The hot stone at the end was a nice surprise to get there full relaxation. So worth it. Hubby liked his masseuse as well. Highly recommend. read more

Before the service even started, we were told there would be a "tax" added for booking through groupon and they did not honor the price I was quoted over the phone. Customer service was decent (I do not use that word strongly) but the massage therapists are clearly untrained. Maybe they are fine for a mani/pedi, but go somewhere else for a massage. I stopped my service ten minutes in and she still tried to charge me...then went down to charging me at a discount. Edit: They do not offer mani/pedis so there is no reason to come. I also forgot to mention I got a hot stone massage and they just simply didn't have hot stones. 0/10 Edit 2: Forgot to mention, she completely violated my boundaries after telling her twice there is no reason for my butt to be exposed. She kept pulling the towel further down than it needed to be and was incredibly dismissive Edit 3: She told me she would not charge me if I agreed not to leave a review read more

Customer service was horrible. We went in the night before to ask for pricing and availability. The lady at the desk gave us the card and said that we could just walk in. The card says they're open until 12 but they close at 10pm but if you want to go In After 10, just call and make an appt. So I called and made and appt for 3 people. As soon as we walked in they were asking us for payment. If you pay with card you pay taxes. He was charging me $55/person when the card they gave me the night before clearly has $49 per person. I asked him why the difference and he respond "no price change". I explained to him that I had just been in the night before and was given those prices. He didn't care and would not budge. $6 is not a huge difference but it's the principal. That was the price I was quoted and that's the price on the card I was given. They have a board with different prices. He was not trying to keep our business until we were walking out. He them lowered it to $50 but I was over it and found another place. read more

I have been coming here since it opened a few years ago. Actually, been very regular - once a week / once every two weeks. Always thought the service was pretty good and the massages were decent. It's not fancy, but it's clean. Unfortunately, it's changed a lot over the years and not in a good way. The prices were always pretty competitive (but certainly not the lowest). I never really minded as the place was clean and respectable. Unfortunately, they have raised prices and now have become very aggressive with demanding a massive tip. By the way, there are 5-6 places within a few blocks that all charge the same amount. The front desk person has changed and now they try to make you pay upfront - umm no thank you. I'll pay after the service. Additionally, when paying they tried to overcharge me - $55 for a foot massage vs. the clearly listed $45. Then after giving the masseuse a 20% tip she demanded more. I politely told her that I've been coming for years and always give this amount. She became aggressive and in my face ranting about being mistreated. I really think it's just gotten out of hand. This place seems to not want to pay their employees and wants customers to give a massive tip - she was saying $20 for a $45 service. A gratuity is based on the level of service and is not a requirement - if it was, it would be included in the price, which it clearly wasn't. Unfortunately, after several years of loyal patronage, I won't be coming back. read more

Great, affordable massage that is clean and friendly. While in vacation with friends, we came in twice to get massages. Both times I did the 30 min foot and 30 min body massage. Pressure was great and found those knots perfectly. You can choose to be in a private room or in the front room in a chair but stay fully clothed. I suggest the rooms where it's a bit quieter and feels more like a 'real' massage. I would definitely come back when I'm in NYC again read more
