I was camping outside Lake City last week when my Ford F150 stalled on numerous occasions while going to a trailhead. After identifying Rene's Garage online, I called and Rene told me to come on in. I limped back into town and the truck was determined to need a new throttle body. I thought that I was screwed being so isolated and having a trailer to pull. But, Rene assured me that he could have a new throttle body shipped in by 10:00 the next morning and installed by noon. And that is exactly how it went down. I had a flat tire while camping about 40 miles away and one of the locals recomended Renee's to get it fixed. I drove up thereand dropped it off and while I ran an errand at the other end of town, his mechanic fixed while I was gone and mounted it when I returned. The whole repair time was less than an hour. We lost our brake booster somewhere around Trinidad but made it to Alamosa. After dealing with lots of garages in Alamosa with no responsiveness, we drive on to Lake City. Rene saved our vacation. He knows most people in Lake City in the summer are on holiday and works his schedule around that. Great communication and setting clear expectations. The brakes on my RV overheated on the way down Slumgullion Pass. In Lake City I stopped by a real estate office and the nicest person, Daniel, referred me to Rene's Garage. I called and Rene said to bring my rig by. He immediately examined all 4 brakes on my RV, said they had been pretty hot but not burned up (whew!), diagnosed a brake bleed and new fluid was needed, which he did on the spot (even though his garage had lots of cars to work on). I feel pretty fortunate to have found Rene and be able to continue my trip. He even guided me on how to best navigate through the mountains to not overheat my brakes again, along with having my brakes looked at again when I returned from my trip. I took my Jeep to the dealership 4 times with the same symptoms; they replaced camshaft sensors and even the camshaft themselves; 10 miles after I left (for the 4th time) the symptoms returned. It took Rene 30 minutes of troubleshooting to find the real issue - a almost broken wire on the same camshaft sensor the dealership replaced, twice! This guy knows his stuff! He acomodated me on a holiday while I was passing through town! I can't say enough good things about the service I received! read more

We are from out of town and part of our vacation included going through Engineer Pass from Ouray. We noticed a rattle that started on our 4-runner that wasn't there previously. We immediately wanted to check it out because we were leaving soon and were worried that we had done some major damage while on the mountain trails. The other mechanic shop was slammed and recommended Rene's and we are definitely glad they did (especially after their poor review!). They had us in within 5 minutes on a Friday afternoon, was able to diagnose the simple problem and fix it within 20ish minutes. He tried to repair a flat tire and failed stating that the tire was irreparable needed to be replaced. He charged $40. Later in Alamosa Jim's permanently repaired the same tire for $10 saying the initial repair was faulty. read more
