Got post and cap replaced and a surprise water pic under all the caps. For the post and cap, Carpinito conferred with his hygienist like she was a colleague. He couldn't find the old post although he would drill, take and x-ray, drill, take an x-ray until he had taken at least 10 x-rays. I had to really put my foot down to get the lead apron. The surprise water pic treatment was the most painful experience I've ever had. He used the pic under the (many) caps. After he was 3/4 done he suddenly left and eventually came back. I would never go to him again. It really showed me I should search every service provider I think of going to. You can look him up in the Board of Registry of Dentists. Carpinito is the consummate hack and crook. The Massachusetts authorities should have shut him down years ago. He has a long, sordid history of malpractice complaints against him yet he is somehow allowed to continue to practice. He caused irreparable damage to my teeth during my two visits and defrauded my insurance company (Aetna). Complaints were filed with both the Mass Licesnsure Board and Aetna Dental's Fraud division. Dr. Carpinito is a very skilled dentist. He is also one of the good guys. Despite being a skilled cosmetic dentist; who could command a high price, he is one of the only dentists that accepts the medicaid dental benefit. He has more specilized equiptment that batman has gadgets. read more

I had to switch dentists after my insurance changed through my work. I visited this office twice and had Dr Carpinito do the cleanings both times himself. (I guess he doesn't have any hygenists?) The best thing I can say about my visits were that they were very quick. I was in and out in about 15-20 minutes tops. I've never in my life had a cleaning like this before. Not only did he rush through it but he was extremely rough and I had blood on my face (BOTH TIMES!) after the cleanings. I don't have weak gums. I floss regularly. And I know that a little bleeding is totally normal when you're getting your teeth cleaned, but to smear blood on my face and NOT SAY ANYTHING is completely unacceptable. I thought after the first time maybe it was an off day, but it happened twice. This was the worst experience I've ever had at the dentist. Thankfully I'm back with my original dentist after working out the insurance issue. Never again. read more

This dentist has cost me thousands in dental work. He convinced me I should remove some old filling and replace with white ones( never had a issues with these three back teeth) as he was digging the silver filling out I could feel him hitting nerves and pleaded with him to stop. Needless to say he kept going. I went home and for a week I had awful ear pain. Went back to see him and he Discussed possibly slicing my gum to any infection could drain out!! This office opened a few years ago and I have wanted to try them ever since. I finally did a few weeks ago. I am soooo glad I did. They office and lobby is really nice. In the lobby, they have a few couches and chairs, a front desk, recent magazines, a flat screen TV, and dental product promotions. It is clean and welcoming. The treatment rooms are are pretty standard except they also have computer monitors in front of the patient chairs. The dentist used it to show me the X-rays of my teeth. It was pretty cool. The dentist is really nice and funny. He is the only dentist in the office. He spent at least 45 minutes with me. I have never seen a dentist for for than 20 minutes! He helped get a stain out of my teeth that had been there for about 5 years. The cleaning did not hurt like my previous hygienist. Although the dentist was a little upset with the hygienist. I was able to book an appointment only a few weeks ahead and at the end of the appointment I got a travel size toothpaste and a new toothbrush. Overall, I had a GREAT experience. read more

I've been going to Dr. Renato Carpinito in Medford, MA, for many years. If you want a dentist who knows his/her teeth, then Dr. Carpinito is the one. He never rushes through his work and he gives sound advice. I trust his judgement because he cares about his patients' teeth. I was hoping to be a new patient of Dr. Carpinito's. I made an appointment for 7:30am this morning because I have a toothache. I arrived at the office at 7:30am and it was closed. I waited until 7:40am before leaving a voicemail letting them know I would be going home and probably not giving them my business. There's nothing worse than being stood up for a dentist appointment when your teeth are in pain. Edit: The office called me at 8am to let me know there had been a miscommunication that caused the morning shift not to know about my appointment. They apologized multiple times on the phone and when I came to the office. It turned out my teeth and gums were fine and the pain is from clenching my jaw at night due to stress. So all Dr. Carpinito needed to do was a cleaning. As others have said, he is on the rougher and rushed side. This was the first teeth cleaning I've ever had that was more than intermittently painful or uncomfortable. I was very nervous about getting my two wisdom teeth taken out before coming to Dr. Renato. However, when I got there, he and his assistant calmed me down right away. The procedure itself took about 15 minutes tops and before I knew it, both my teeth were already removed. He was very professional and did an excellent job. It has been three days since the surgery and I feel no pain, have no bleeding, and not even a little bit of swelling. I can't imagine the surgery going any smoother! read more

All of these horrible reviews are correct, this man is a terrible, rough dentist and a scam artist as well. I went in one morning with horrible mouth pain and and had to wait around over an hour past my appointment time, his diagnosis was horrible. He tried to find what tooth was bothering me by banging on it with the handle of an instrument which was beyond painful when he hit the infected tooth. He took probably a dozen unnecessary X-rays and put the gun right up to my cheek which I have never had done before. After that, all he wanted to do was pull my tooth out so he could put an expensive implant in which I expressly did not want unless no other options were available. He then tried to do a root canal reconstruction which is an advanced procedure that was way over his head and abilities that only an endodontist should perform. He then tried to double bill my insurance company and his office refused to give my deposit back until I got my insurance company after him. After getting a call from them, he then personally called me back to say he would give a refund back which I thought was incredibly strange. Then of course I had to call a week later to actually get them to mail the check. His receptionist was also very rude with me as well and also doubles as his dental assistant which is again very strange but I honestly can't blame her because she must hate her job because he berates her in the room in front of patients. This man cost me an enormous amount of pain, time and money as I then had to search around for a competent dentist and was finally able to get a root canal from a qualified endodontist. I would avoid this office like the plague, I would not trust him to work on a dogs tooth. read more

Horrible service - both horrendous office and bedside (non)-manners, and I walked away with constant PAIN in my entire mouth for weeks following my appointment. I had a simple cleaning and one cavity (it's the only cavity i have) and the work done for both were re-done at another dental office. STAY AWAY! He often flirts with his hygienists while he is working on your side teeth. Doesn't like to use novacaine, so it's very painful. Rushes jobs and doesn't complete them. Left me bleeding (which never happened during any other cleaning), sore, and in pain. He was rude to his hygienist. Reprimanding her in front of me. I am rarely one to complain and I have had some rough dental work in the past, ie Army Dentist. I have never had an experience as bad as this one. Over all he was rushing and made negative remarks to the hygienist who could barely keep up with his notes which he rambled out as his scrapping tools got a little piece of each gum. He took no care when cleaning my teeth. I may have slightly sensitive gums but I floss daily and brush as well. I almost had to push him off me, he only stopped when I yelped in pain. Dentist " it will hurt there" .. " I have to do it". I admit when he hit the soft gum under my bridge I rolled over and swore very loudly. I constantly had to stop, between the scrapping, to spit blood from my mouth. When he went to polish the teeth he went over them in seconds. More time was spent on just a quick exam I had in Iraq than this guy took to clean my teeth. I was spitting up blood for a good 20 minutes after. Round it all out with an outrageous bill. Please if you have children or someone who needs a little care DO NOT go here. If you want to be in and out in around 20 minutes, including first time paper work and in processing and don't mind pain he may be your guy. read more

Dr Carpinito is VERY UNprofessional and VERY ROUGH when it comes 2 DENTISTS!!! And I've been 2 a LOT of dentists!!! I have a LOT of money that's been spent in my mouth.. I take PRIDE in my SMILE!!! I've been in PAIN for the last MONTH!!!! And Dr Carpinito says "It's in my head"!!!... then yesterday I received a bill for $800!!! He must have LOST his mind!!! I've had these implants 4 a SHORT amount of time... less than 8 years... And they JUST FELL OUT WHILE I was talking!!! And since they have fallen out... ALL He has done is cut down the bridge WHICH was ORIGINALLY in my mouth and put it back... and then remove the broken "titanium" post that was in my mouth and stitched up the gaping hole that was left... and in between took a couple of X-rays... and on this BOGUS bill he had the NERVE 2 send Me... it states sumthing about bone replacement... which he's NEVA even done?!!! Just wow!!! I telephoned Him 2day telling Him I was STILL in extreme pain!!! The pain runs ALL the way 2 my eye socket, giving me headaches and everything!!! The pain is SOOOOOOOOO BAD that I'm physically nauseous.... it's been a horrendous experience thus far...I've since called His office 4 my records... and have been told it will take a WEEK 2 get my records 2gether!!! I am Renato's customer for more than ten years and the best way to appreciate it is that after a lot of work done in the first year (including bridges and one implant) for the rest I had to go only for cleaning and periodic inspections. I went to this supposed Dentist for a simple straightforward cleaning and he sent his Hygienist away and started the work himself, insisting on taking multiple x-rays when in fact I had x-rays with me when I went to his office. When I got up to leave I was hit with a bill for over $970 for what I do not know. Later I was called by Carpinito's legal assistant demanding that I pay the entire amount because a scaling was done, though it was never done. Carpinito and company must think that people are ignorant to the work a Dentist does. I have a pending complaint with the Attorney General's Office and the worst thing is that there were multiple one star bad complaints against Carpinito though this crook has somehow manipulated "yelp" in removing all the bad reviews of him, including my review was removed previously even though it was a first hand real experience. The receptionists are clueless, they don't return your calls, they do not do the billing, the dentist does everything! Him on the other hand, he is very rough, impatient, rude and scams people.
