Please don't give them your business! Three months before the wedding, before the dress even arrived, our family suffered a tragedy, and the bride -to- be passed away in a terrible accident. Every vendor offered their deepest sympathies and immediately offered to refund any deposits made. Renate's not only refused to return the deposit, or try and help us in any way, the owner never even bothered to return our call. This is not about the money, it's about common decency and compassion. Long Island is full of wonderfully staffed bridal boutiques, Renate's is not one of them. For a company that "specializes" in creating wonderful memories, Renate's only caused a grieving family more pain. read more

I didn't buy anything at this shop for my sister and my friend when I was planning my wedding but none the less based on service they deserve a great review. I walked into this shop with my mother-in-law when I was planning my wedding before I took my girls out to see what they wanted. The staff gave us good advice and they were very helpful. They filled out a card for me with the dresses I liked in case I bought my girls back. The shop was clean, and had a good selection even though it was small. I am a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding July 2017 and a bride getting married August 2018. We ordered our bridesmaids dresses January 2017 and we're told they would arrive middle of May- they did not come in until the first week in June, leaving us 4 weeks to get our dresses altered. On top of that, every person had a significant amount of alterations that needed to be done because the dresses were ordered too big! I was charged extra for getting a bigger size because of my chest and the woman I bring all of my dresses has to take it in on the sides and said that they shouldn't have ordered it that big! My sister is tall and they told her that they needed extra length and paid for it and now has to get almost 4 inches taken off! Almost every girl in the bridal party has to get unnecessary alterations to their dress! This process has been a headache for my cousin and her bridal party and as a bride still looking for bridesmaid dresses I can confidently say I will NOT be using this establishment or referring them to anyone! My wedding happened over a year ago and i realized i never updated my review. Renate's was amazing from beginning to end. I recently even went to get my dress preserved (I had lent a family member my dress causing the delay). And Donna still remembered me and even remembered the fact that my mother was having a hard time finding a dress. I have recommended any and all brides, bridal parties and any formal party guests I know to them! I will never go back or send anyone to this shop! They do not listen to customer request and the way they measure for a dress is incorrect, making you have to order 1-2 sizes bigger. This will guarantee them 75$ for alterations. They have an older seamstress there that is rude, obnoxious, and insulting. She will tell u how she feels without a filter. And none of the other staff or management will say anything to her about her actions. I had to literal yell at the women and tell her to shut up because she insulted me for a good 15 min and everything I said she had a negative comment afterwords. This is probably the reason why they barely have any busy. Every time I went there there was maybe 1 person if that. Take your business to another shop that will be kind and helpful. Amazing! Is the only word that can describe Renate's. When I went to look at wedding dresses most places weren't listening to my requests. Donna (the owner) however listened and delivered! I felt right at home, didnt feel pressured she took great care and pride in the dresses she selected for me. Throughout the whole process Donna was right there, and her staff is fantastic, they are knowledgeable and are ready with tips to help make the dress more comfortable and flattering. There is no longer a Renate but there is Donna and all her amazing staff.we got my daughters wedding dress the bridesmaid dresses and mothers of bride dress here. Yes you can shop for all these at a chain store or even online but neither of these options will give you the individual care and service that Renate's does. When you enter Renate's you are not just another customer, you become a family member and are treated like your wedding is their only wedding. My daughter had a specific vision in mind, and some special dress requirements and both were met. Donna leaves no,detail,to,chance and no dress is ever done til she is happy with the look and fit. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is HORRIBLE! went in on a Saturday and was told our dresses would be in on time we were persuaded to order that day even though we wanted to wait she convinced us that if we didnt order that day we wouldnt have them in time. So we placed the order 3 days later they called and said we'd have to pay $40 per dress to rush it or the dresses would not be in when we needed them. After going back and forth with the owner we got no where in fact she got very nasty and loud with me. I was astonished and could not believe she was speaking to customer this way. I asked for a refund and she told me I had to come in even though I do not live locally she did not care at all. Its no wonder this place was totally deserted on a Saturday afternoon! Had they told us from the get go that we would need to pay the rush fee I'd have no problem paying it but at that point I felt deceived. I purchased two bridesmaid dresses there for my daughters. The dress the bride chose was very expensive so I shopped around for price. The owner was able to beat the best price that I had received elsewhere. She also gave me a discount on the alterations. Will be back when it's time to buy them their own wedding dresses. They will tell you your measurements are bigger then what they are by 2 to 6 sizes so that you have to pay there alteration fees. They are nasty. I do not suggest trusting them with your event. Every Bride needs a Fairy Godmother and The owner Donna was mine. From day one we just clicked. I came into Renate's on a whim & left as family. Everyone went above and beyond to make my wedding dress experience one in a million. I will never be able to express my thanks to Renate's for all they did for me!! from the late nights laughing & sharing wedding plans.. to the comforting hugs as i cried because something on my dress was uncomfortable ( which was beyond perfect the day of the wedding ). Even when Donna was sick and couldn't make it to my fitting one night she called me to say she could see me on the store cameras and that I looked beautiful ). I hold every moment of my dress experience deep in my heart and only hope every bride makes/gets the chance to experience all I did. HORRIBLE!!! Where do I begin?! I am getting married on July 6, 2014 and ordered a bridesmaid dress on April 18th, 2014. I was told that if I wanted the dress by June 6th, I was to pay the rush fee of $45. I happily ordered the dress (Alfred Angelo is the manufacturer). On June 6th, I called and asked if the dress was in. I spoke to Lisa who said that it was not in yet. I called every day after that until June 17th, which she finally told me yes, it came in. Because of their closing times during the week, and me living in Brooklyn, I told her I was coming in on Saturday to pick it up. Well, when I got there on Saturday June 21st, I met Lisa in person. When she told me the balance plus the $45 rush fee, I asked her if she would be able to waive it because the dress came in two weeks after she had promised. She was the rudest, most sarcastic and unprofessional salesperson/person I have ever encountered in my life. She demanded that I pay the full rush fee even after I tried to be fair and tell her that I would pay half. She said "Why should we not charge you, when we already got charged for it"??? I asked to speak to the manager - Melissa (a 20-something year old woman) comes out and I explain the story to her as well. She, a little more reserved, agreed with Lisa and was not budging on the rush fee. I also told Melissa that my cousin ordered a dress two weeks after me from Tex Tux & Bridal Wear Inc 718-739-8500 and received it three weeks before the dress from Renate's came in.. She had no explanation and said that she will call and find out why their shipping was quicker (my cousin paid the rush fee (which by the way, was only $30). Of course, I needed the dress so I did pay the whole rush fee. I was so furious and disgusted by this whole experience, that I vowed to tell everyone never ever ever to go there - EVER!! The worst personality and the worst run boutique in all of New York if not the whole country. I wish that people, especially when working with brides, understands the stress we are under and can speak with no sarcasm and actually have a nice experience. Thought I would get a call back from Donna (the owner) - but I guess she could care less that her employees were as rude as they were to me. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!! read more

TERRIBLE!! The owner has the worst customer service ever!! My sister had a dress altered here and they left all the fabric on the side. It made her hips look huge. When my mom pointed it out the OWNER asked my mom if she was a seamstress and she should have done it herself if she knows so much. It was horrifying. Terrible! I made a Saturday appointment, came in Saturday and they told me my appointment was Friday and I missed it. Um, I ALWAYS work Fridays and would never make a Friday appt, so it was their mistake and they were rude about it (said no one could help me) I came back to my next fitting and the person I made an appt with left early to go to a party (can't believe they admitted this!) so I had to wait.. They were rude every single time and I'm a very patient person and never complain.. had to make an account just to warn people! The other bridesmaids had similar problems and the bride said she wish she knew how unprofessional they were before she went with them! Very disappointing. read more

After I placed an order she called me 4 days later to tell me that she forgot to place it and that I would have to accrue the rush fee. I told her I would not pay it and that I was never told this was even a possibility. She went on to tell me how busy she is and how she can't be bothered with my $500 order. She was so petty and disrespectful. I asked her to credit me and she told me No. She said that I had to come in to get my refund. I will never do business with her again. She lost an order over a $40 rush delivery fee. How could someone do such horrible business. She has done this before bc I read a review of a customer with the same exact experience . I did not have a good experience when I purchased a gown here for my wedding. I am an older bride marrying for the 2nd time and did not want a traditional gown. The 1st sales lady who helped me wasn't concerned that I stated I didnt want a traditional gown and insisted on showing me white gowns. I had to say a couple of times thats not what I was looking for. finally I got to look at gowns and did see something I liked and decided to order. After being measure was told they would have to order a dress 2 sizes bigger than I usually wear to make sure. I told them I was looking to lose some wait and didn't think that was necessary but they insisted that was the way to go. I had 9 weeks to go and was also told I would have to rush order (an additional $60) but if it came in right away I would be refunded the money. The dress came in 10 days later - when I inquired about the rush order she said of thats why it came so fast - smh - didn't get that. When I went for the fitting of course the dress looked like a potato sack - 3 fittings later and $280 in alternations I walked away not happy - I believe they do that on purpose so they can charge the extra money. I also was uncomfortable that when I went for the fittings the seamstress had to call in the owner to ask about how something should be done and then the owner is telling her its too tight on her hips to take it out - that wasn't a problem it looked fine on my hips - long story tight they all didn't seem to know what they were doing and as they were all eating dinner when I got there it was like I interuped their dinner and lets just get it over. I wouldnt sugges this bridal shop to anyone - overpriced - non caring - etc. read more
