She was shocked that I hired her having only looked at her portfolio, but I knew from the photos she had of another wedding at my venue that she would do a great job. I appreciate her working with my husband who is camera shy and managing to document beautiful moments with our chaotic (but sweet) families. I've already recommended her to several friends--and will continue to do so. I reached out to Xinlei in a bit of a panic, hoping to capture newborn photos at home. Thankfully, she was available and offered a wonderful "Watch Me Grow" package that included sessions at newborn (added fee), 6 months, and 12 months. I really wanted newborn photos in our home so we could include our two dogs and remember this special chapter--bringing our baby home to our San Francisco house. Like any new mom, I was overwhelmed. The day of the shoot was pure chaos--baby had a blowout, peed on the bed, skipped her nap, and I wasn't fully ready when Xinlei arrived. But Xinlei was so calm, patient, and reassuring. She made us feel completely at ease, even when everything felt messy. I genuinely thought there was no way we got any good photos from that session. But when the gallery came back, I was blown away. The photos were stunning. They beautifully captured our new family--full of warmth and love. You'd never guess how hectic that day really was. The 6- and 12-month shoots were just as smooth. Xinlei was consistently kind, creative, and patient--and the photos were incredible every time. I've received so many compliments, and I can't wait to work with her again. If you're even thinking about booking her, do it. You won't regret it! Also her pricing is very reasonable!!

As a new mom, who delivered 5 weeks early, I was disappointed not to have had a chance for a maternity shoot and overwhelmed trying to research accommodating photographers whose work I loved. After 3 months with a preemie we were finally ready and Xinlei was recommended by a close friend. She was amazing!! We selected her "Watch Me Grow" package that included sessions at newborn (she allowed us to do this at 3 months), 6 months, and 12 months. I really wanted my daughter's photos in our home so we could include our puppy and the brand new home we had just moved into. On zero sleep, still struggling to "feel like myself", realizing I had only selected outfits for the baby, and forgetting to eat... Xinlei was exactly who we needed. She came with bringing baked goods from Paris Baguette for my husband and I (hangry husband would not make for a good shoot! Haha), loved on our attention-starved puppy, and was so patient when our daughter feel asleep / had to take a milk break in the middle of the shoot. We laughed the whole time, got to know each other, and all felt so at ease! She even included my mother who was visiting in a few photos - something so special to us. The gallery (for all our sessions) blew us away. The photos were beautiful, captured our growing little family... and she even included a few fun blooper pictures (a given with a newborn, 6m, or 1 yr old) for laughs! We also looked forward to our sessions. Xinlei is so thoughtful, patient, and deliver beautiful quality work. I would highly recommend!!

During the photo shoot, Fern's friendliness and sense of humor made the process all the more enjoyable. She suggested many different and fun poses, and we all laughed together over some of our funnier candid shots. She let us take the direction as well, switching up combinations of family members and letting us take multiple shots to get the perfect one. After the photo shoot, Fern frequently contacted us about the status of our photos, and we received the pictures in a timely manner. And gosh we LOVED how our pictures came out!! I couldn't get over how natural we looked in the photos, as if we weren't even posing at all. All our emotions came through genuinely, and nothing looked forced or contrived in any way.
