Very transparent with costs and time estimates, as well as the scope of what our repairs entailed. We had several other companies come out and look at the project and they were not nearly as straightforward and matter of fact. He was always prompt, thorough and respectful throughout the quoting process. Turns out this is very rare. Additionally, his pricing is fair and the bid was very clear, inclusive/complete and never changed throughout the process. We decided to go with Jeremy because of these things and could not be happier with the outcome. Every step of the process was outlined and followed. Jeremy was super easy to work with leading up to the project. He was more than willing to help us and work with us based on our needs. This was not "just another job" for them, and it showed. When Jeremy and Victor arrived to start our project we were immediately impressed. They were some of the best we have ever used. They were on time, respectful of our home, clean and truly paid attention to the details to ensure our fireplace was exactly how we envisioned. They didn't rush through just to get to the next job. When we submitted a service request, we heard back in minutes. Jeremy is an adamant professional and has a no-nonsense communication style. Matt, the owner, educated me about the job, and how we, my family and I, could most benefit from doing one type of paint instead of the other. In addition, he gave out numerous of alternatives. What was the job? The job (to me) was complex, but the painters made it look like a breeze. I needed my kitchen island repainted because it was chipping at the bottom. Frankly, it was driving me nuts. Only one whole day of painting, then the next day they came back to put on the cabinets. Expertise about the job: This is the most important part of my review. I am not a painter, nor do I have a large understanding of the varieties of paint. I know my water paints from pre-k, and that is about it! Therefore, I have high expectations when I hire an individual within their field. The owner of M&J, Matt, appeared to have great wealth of knowledge in his area of expertise. He was able to articulate a variety of paints, and how the kitchen island would appeal visually by utilizing paint and the formality. He also educated us about different options. Matt also educated us about caring for the painted site for the next 14 days, and how to continue to receive maximum visual appealing island. Employee / Staff: Matt, the owner, set a firm base of communication prior to visiting the job site. He responded within hours of receiving a FB message. He went around my busy schedule to come give me a quote. He arrived on-time, and showed up for the job. He and his employee had all necessary tools to complete the job. More importantly, he and his employee appeared friendly and enjoyed his job. Cleanliness: I am a very particular person when it comes to contractors being clean and cleaning up after themselves during and after the job. That was not a problem for M&J! The employees were very clean, and cleaned up after themselves. They brought their own broom/dust pan/ and other tools to ensure the best possible cleanliness. During the job the workers were very careful and delicate with their surroundings. My kitchen looked like a scene off of Dexter, but I'm glad they put up as much painting plastic sheets as they did. Price: Paying and pricing out painting jobs is typically my husband's job. My initial reaction was off-put after receiving the quote. However, my reaction was based on lack of understanding within this field. I conducted research, and M&J's price appeared to be competitive within the Treasure Valley. In addition, after seeing their work, I was more than happy with the quote. References: Matt offered references from the beginning. I contacted both references, both highly recommended this company. Star rating:I typically do not give 5 stars. I am a firm believer that every company has the ability to improve in some way, but there are a few companies who deserve the five star. Brad was very professional during the entire experience and communicated well through the process. His crew often worked long hours and were punctual. My wife and I really appreciated Brad's knowledge and creative thinking and would give great ideas when we were stuck on how to remodel certain areas of the house. I personally struggled with envisioning how each room would look after the remodel and Brad did excellent at walking me through each process of the rooms to help me develop a clearer picture of the end product. I plan on using Western Idaho Builders (Brad) on my next big project of remodeling our personal home as well. Services performed: Installed new doors, moved doors around, moved walls around, built a landing with stairs leading to the back yard, painted inside / outside, removed cement stairs and blended wall with house, framed garage door, installed new lights. I had new flooring put in my a different company but Brad did the floor prep and did a great job for the floor installers. One slight negative to the project was the painters were not very punctual, had to come back multiple times, and I am not sure the quality of paint was what I paid for due to how easily it is to scratch the paint with my fingernail on accident. The painting itself was a good job and looked very professional. Painters were subcontracted by Brad and not completed by his crew.
