I called Renaissance to give my downstairs rugs a cleaning before some entertaining. Unfortunately, the machine they used left large white areas on my main living room rug and on another rug and a chair. Only the main living room rug was really ruined. I called another company to see if they could save the rug and they said it wasn't possible. Mike, the owner, apologized and returned $100 of the initial fee. I used this carpet cleaning company last year to clean my stairs. I liked the price and the service, so I booked them again this year. I had pleasant emails back in forth with Monica to book. I warned the staff that my hardwood floors had just been refinished a week ago. He assured me he would use a carp to cover them. I worked upstairs while he cleaned my carpet. I received a carpet cleaning on Saturday, 5 January 2019 from Renaissance Carpet Cleaners. They were able to accommodate me with the time and day I requested, as well as show up on time to the appointment - the technician also called when they were close to let me know a more definite time of arrival. Communication all good. I met them at the rental home I was moving out of to ensure they were performing the right service in the right rooms (deluxe/basic cleanings) - of note, they were polite and professional. Upon entry to the house, I asked if they had protective booties to slide over their shoes (most if not all cleaners I've used in the past had them) in order to preserve the freshly mopped floors. They didn't have any and they said they'd be careful and the head tech told his partner "this is a move-out cleaning, so be careful." I walked them around an showed them exactly which service I needed on each room, and paid for exactly that. After that, I had to leave and they said they could lock up when finished. Fast forward to today Monday, 7 Jan, when I met the landlord at the house for the final walk-through. (1) One of the rooms I paid for the deluxe service was only a basic (and I needed it deluxe); (2) there were boot prints on top of boot prints on the freshly mopped floors; (3) there was white stuff on the floors in one area I had to scrub off; (4) there were dust bunnies all over the upstairs landing where I cleaned and mopped the day prior. This was all pretty frustrating, because I thought I was in good hands, having to do a final walk-through... Luckily I arrived before the landlord and was able to take 20 minutes and clean up after them. The carpets they did apply the right level of service to looked really good. I would recommend that if you use this service that you're able to check immediately after they're complete to ensure everything was done as requested. read more

Consistent effective, efficient service from a company that I used several years ago, am glad I used again recently, and would turn to another time. This time around, the personable Anttonio and Mike were clear in explaining the various costs and processes, and knocked out their work capably and smoothly. Along with cleaning the carpets in two rooms in general, Anttonio almost completely succeeded in cleaning a couple of areas that had unidentified, ground-in substances that I hadn't been able to make a dent against in several attempts. (The unidentifiable substances were 'gifts' from a renter, so I had no information on what the substances were or when they were ground in in order to give Anttonio and Renaissance information to work with, but Anttonio still did an excellent job!) Separately, Mike 'stretched' the old carpets back into place, despite the size of the rippling and a few awkward locations due to shelving units. I thought the price was very good...although for what it's worth, I remain a little confused by the additional "high-rise" fee of $25, which applies to buildings with more than five floors. However, this fee was clearly noted on the website and by Anttonio and Mike, so it wasn't a surprise. Also, my confusion is my own fault as I didn't bother to ask anyone the reason behind the fee, instead just maintaining my mental grumbling about higher buildings having elevators that make lugging equipment no more difficult than in lower buildings (and potentially easier, since many lower buildings wouldn't have elevators.) So basically, that was a long-winded way of noting that there's an additional $25 fee that you might not otherwise expect, but the price for Renaissance's service seemed good to me, regardless. read more

I had an excellent experience with Renaissance and the cleaner who serviced our new home, Antonio. Once you schedule an appointment, they are communicative and inform you of the two hour window in which you might expect the technician, and I received a call from him when he was on the way. He arrived early and unfortunately had to wait on me, and he was quite amicable. We ran into a bit of a snafu when he discovered a piece of equipment fell off the machine at his previous job (NW D.C., we live in southern Alexandria), but he explained the situation and left to retrieve it as quickly as he could. Traffic was, naturally, horrendous, and it took him about two hours to get there and back, but he called me occasionally to update me on his location and explain the situation. I appreciated his professionalism and have no complaints - things happen, and it didn't jam up my day any. Once he arrived back at the house, it only took him a half hour to do a Basic Clean on our basement family room and small hallway, and the total cost was $50 as was quoted to me originally. The carpet looked great and didn't have too strong of a chemical scent. I felt horrible for him that it caused him to spend two full hours of his day in freeway traffic, but he was still very pleasant in spite of it.
