I texted her a picture of the haircut that I want. And she cut it the way she want it. I was looking for a straight haircut. The first pic is the one I wanted it, the second of course is mine. She cut it too much in front too. read more

Renae Monette - Hair Salons Near Me - Poway, California

Worst customer service I have ever experienced an a hair salon. The minute I sat in her chair she insulted my black hair and how it would have streak of white hair if I continued As it got really even more uncomfortable, as she told me me being on my phone would interfere with her work, I even told her I would hold my phone up and she kept talking under her breath. Also refused to give me a magazine "as it would interfere" with her work. I didn't want to know how much worse it would get, I walked out. Never had such bad service, usually stylist will break their back to make you feel comfortable, not here with Renae M, rude and terrible service expect nothing more. read more

I highly recommend getting your hair cut and colored with Renae. I saw Renae for the first time yesterday and came due to a Groupon I purchased online. Renae's studio was located in a building between Petco and Grocery Outlet that consisted of a bunch of little independent hairstyles, manicurists, estheticians, and so forth. Upon arriving at my appointment, I was greeted and offered some tea to drink. The studio itself was private, cute, and nicely decorated with a French influence and style, reflecting Renae's history and education in France. The ambiance was soothing and relaxing and Renae had French music playing in the background. When I told Renae I wanted to cut my hair short like an A-line bob, she recommended how short to cut my hair to make my haircut flattering to my face shape. I then showed her a couple of pictures of how I wanted my hair colored. Renae was able to get my hair to the desired color and cut my hair with perfection. Renae bleached, toned, conditioned, cut, and styled my hair while educating me on hair coloring techniques. I could tell Renae really cared about how my cut and color would come out and was meticulous when it came to the cut and coloring. During the appointment, Renae had an emergency arise concerning her dog, but remained calm and collected while working with my hair. Renae was not only professional about her work, but she also provided exceptional service, offering me some snacks while she spent around four hours with my hair. Throughout the time I was with Renae, she built rapport with me and I could tell she loved her job. Renae was extremely knowledgeable about haircuts and coloring and is extremely talented when it comes to cutting and coloring hair. If you want to have a great cut and color, book an appointment with Renae. She is one of the best in San Diego! read more

Renae was amazing she took her time to fix my damaged hair that I attempted at bleaching, it was badly Burnt and damaged. I was nervous and slightly embarrassed to show someone how damaged it was. She had a hard task at hand. In the end she took my long hair and cut it short, well this is the shortest I've ever had it. It feels fresh, it feels healthy again and I love the ambiance and French music it was soothing to my anxiety. I love what she has done. I've gotten so many compliments. She spent so much time cutting and explaining. I wanted an a line bob but I had cut off so much of the damaged hair we decided to just go with an over all shorten hair style. I will definitely be back to her. read more

Renae Monette - Renae made my hair beautiful again! - Hair Salons Near Me - Poway, California

Very rigid in setting appointments and very unchangeable when something happens as in my case. My Mother just died and I needed to drive a long distance so could not keep my next day appointment. Her answer was that everyone says that and she would not change the appointment into next week and was going to retain the deposit I had given her of $200. The appointment had only been set the day before and so was a time that she knew she would not fill. I will look around for someone human. read more

I found Renae on Groupon and decided to give her a try. I have had some bad at home color situations and also some hairstylists that have really just missed the mark. The moment I sat in Renae's chair, I knew that I had found my go-to salon. She did an absolutely amazing job on my hair and was very friendly and kind. Renae really listened to what I wanted and worked on my hair for hours until every detail was just right. The work she does is truly art. I walked out of her salon feeling confident an beautiful. Thank you Renae!!! read more

My hair was in desperate need of a new cut and style...Low and behold, I found a Groupon deal for Renae's shop. Located just a short distance from me at the Phenix Salon's in Poway, I texted her and she was able to accomodate me for a cut within a couple of days. PERFECT! Renae is a joy to talk to and she was almost reading my mind as to what kind of cut I was looking for. Her studio is very relaxing and has a lot of personal touches. and, as far as my hair, one of the best haircuts I've ever had..Don't hesitate in making an appt! read more

Renae has been cutting my hair for some time now. She is always very courteous and interested in exactly how I want to look with my haircut and style. She is professional and very knowledgeable about how your hair grows, how it will look if cut in different ways and what could work best for your needs. Renae is also a trained and certified hair color expert and really knows her stuff when it comes to colors, tones and highlights. If you are looking for someone who knows what they are doing, who is interested in hearing what you want and has the ability and experience to give you excellent advice, then you are in good hands. Her suite is tastefully decorated and very clean. She has excellent taste in music so ask her to play something good for you while you're there, you won't be sorry! read more

Renae is a wonderful hair stylist and human being. I didn't have to tell her what I wanted for my hair. She knew was she was doing. She is a very smart and gentle person. I'm so glad I found her. She knows how to work with colors and she did a great job with my highlights and haircut. I would definitely recommend her to everyone I know. She is very inclusive and we had so many things to talk about. The music playing on the background created a very relaxed mood and good ambiance. Thank you Renae! Namaste! read more

Renae spends more time then other stylists making sure my keratin treatment is applied with the utmost detail. Everytime I go to Renae, the results last longer than with other stylists, thank you!! read more

I came across ReNae via Groupon and all I can say is I waited too long to find her. I had a keratin treatment and a cut and color which I have had many times in the past, but ReNae really took the time to look at my hair, it's condition, the color it was and the color I wanted. The Keratin treatment was good, thorough, and a lot less odor than others I have had in the past, which I know has to do with the formaldehyde they contain. My hair is thin and curly but having the Keratin really helps and actually I really only need it at the roots, but as others have told me there is no way to do that just yet :). I highly recommend ReNae and will return her salon is quaint, quiet, and very pleasant. Denise read more

I called Renae Monette to make an appointment and redeem 2 gift certificates I had purchased. When I called her I told her the certificates were from a couple years ago that I had been saving. She said, "Well, I don't know about that." I said, "Why?" She said, "Because they are from a couple years ago." I told her, "I paid for them and they are from you because they have your name and your phone number on the certificate. You answered the phone number on the certificate. There is no expiration date on the certificates." Then she said, "Do I have to paint a picture for you as to why?" At that point, I realized I didn't want someone like her getting anywhere close to my hair. She didn't even ask me when I purchased the certificates or even make any effort to see what I wanted to have done. I told her that in California when someone purchases a gift certificate you have to honor it, it's the law. She was completely rude and nasty to me. On the certificate, it touted her experience and expertise in hair color and that she is a graduate from the Academy of L'Oreal in Paris. She may have experience in hair services, but she surely didn't have any customer service skills and was completely unprofessional. Such a waste of money..... read more

I found ReNae after starting a new job in her neighborhood. I've had my hair cut once and colored twice now. I have had my expectations exceeded both times. The color is dimensional and the cut is playful, which ReNae picked up in our consultation and nailed in our visit. On a personal note, ReNae is a wonderful conversationalist that's somehow disarming, intriguing and engaging all in one. read more

She is amazing! Love her! She was a huge help to me and got in when another salon had to reschedule the morning of. Great conversation and great work. She gained me as a client for sure! read more

First off, Renae's new address is: 13359 Poway Road Suite 124, still in Poway. It's amazing how you sometimes find a 'gem'. Both talented and nice! I went there for the first time and she totally fixed my cut and color. It was great! And when I walked in, I noticed my friend Kay sitting there. She whispered: "I've been going to Renae for years and years". I always thought Kay had great hair and now I know why! I highly recommend Renae Monette! read more

I really didn't like my experience. My haircut was a mess. I got a Groupon and had her cut my hair. She complained about Groupon and the entire process. She may have been having a bad day or something, but she complained about everything. I tried to make small talk with her and said I lived in Poway. She just complained about Poway the entire time, saying how horrible the "Bario" was in Poway. (Where is that?) She complained about the diversity in Poway and just how she felt discriminated against as a white single mother. She grabbed large sections of my hair with no precision and cut straight across. I was offended by the way she insulted my hometown and just wanted to get out of there. I tried to style my hair different ways in order to cover up my horrible haircut. Eventually I had to go somewhere else and have it fixed. There's no way I would go back to her. I have long hair though. Maybe she does better with shorter haircuts. I'm a bit younger than she is as well (My kids are still in college) so maybe she gets along with bitter older ladies that like to complain a lot. read more

I am relatively new to the area and needed a new stylist. I found her on Yelp. I ended up getting a cut and partial highlights from Renae and LOVED the results. I have a lot of hair, which can be a pain in the ass. She did a wonderful job and I will definitely return. read more

Love love this place. I have been highlighting my hair for 25 years. I've been to countless salons. I always request to have it done the exact same way, every single time, as far as color goes. I like bleach blonde hi-lights...white blond, not golden, not yellow, or orange; WHITE. I had a wonderful hair dresser for the last 5 years, but we moved, so I needed to find someone else. I went on the hunt. I tried groupon, and found Renae Monette, a local here in Poway. I'm SOOOOO glad I did! She nailed it the first time! Most stylists give me a long talk about how my hair will break, it's "too bleached" yada yada. She did raise her eyebrows, and was forthcoming, yes, said my hair has potential to break...I agreed, but I want what I want. So, she did it. She did amazing!!! Not only has my hair NOT broken, but she put more foils on my hair than anyone else ever has. She also got very close to my scalp, so I have a slower re-growth. Bravo!!!! I am so happy to have found her! She also gave me a trim which turned out just fine...My hair is not complicated. She's got a lot of heart, and taste, just did a great job! I highly recommend her. read more

ReNae has an absolutely beautiful hair salon. The ambiance is a reflection of ReNae herself, who is nothing but a fabulous hairdresser with an amazing personality. I have gotten my hair cut for years by different professionals but this is the first time that my hair looks the way that it is supposed to---beautiful, full and shapely. She is dedicated to making sure that you are happy and that your hair looks the best that it can possibly look. She not only gives the amount of time and patience that it takes, but truly understands how to style and cut hair from many years of experience. After getting my hair cut by ReNae, I know that I can never go to anyone else ever again! read more

Had a very lovely experience with Renae. She is a very sweet person that took her time with me and was very open with conversation. Definitely someone I would recommend. read more

I used to color my own hair because I did not trust anyone else to do it. I work a lot with the public so appearances are very important. I finally decided it was time to pamper myself so I asked a friend if they knew of someone who could color and style my hair. They recommended ReNae, so I scheduled an appointment. ReNae did a fantastic job. I have received so many compliments on my hair and on how much younger I look. I will not touch my own hair again. I strongly recommend ReNae for both coloring and styling. read more

I saw Renae for the first time yesterday. I had not seen a hairdresser for quite a long time, so my hair was a complete wreck. Usually, I feel super nervous when I have a new hairdresser because you never know what you're going to get. Within minutes of being in Renae's salon, I felt at home and welcomed. She had a great playlist playing on the radio which I really liked. We chatted while she did my hair and she made me laugh. She knew exactly what to do to fix my hair color which included a color correction, which was exactly right!! When I came in, I had mixed feelings about what to do with the length of my hair. She gave me options and let me choose one without being pushy or insistent as some hair dressers can be, and then she made what I wanted happen perfectly. I felt like I could trust her, so I let her cut my hair short and I felt no regrets (which I normally would)! Once she did a blowout, she showed me my hair and I was completely floored. My hair was PERFECT and absolutely flawless, with IMPECCIBLE color and cut! Completely blew all my previous hairdressers right out of the water. I feel super comfortable with my new short(er) hair and I'm glad I took a chance today because doing so made me feel so free, confident, and brand new! It's amazing what the perfect haircut can do for you in all aspects of your life. I highly recommend getting your hair done perfectly by Renae! She is simply the best! read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Renae yesterday. She is awesome and I had such a great time. She is an expert. I feel like a new person. She does not let you leave until you and she are completely satisfied, I had an awful experience about four months ago and was really anxious about having my hair done. She listened to what I wanted and her input was amazing.! I don't believe that I could be more satisfied. I believe I have finally found my stylist read more

Renae was fantastic! She has great knowledge and expertise in the field, and she will spend extra time to really ensure that you leave feeling beautiful and well taken care of! Since I lost my stylist almost 2 years ago I have been looking for a new one. I use groupon because it's an inexspensive way to try someone out and see if it's a good fit. Renae was not a good fit, my haircut is good but she made me feel I was wasting her time. Not only did she double book and then make me feel like it was my fault, she also made me feel horrible about just getting a haircut. She then asked for a check and refunded my groupon without telling me. If I knew she had refunded my groupon I would have walked out immediately and never returned. She asked me what I was getting today I said a trim and the conditioning treatment that I bought on groupon. She told me that next time I should think about a super cuts for what I wanted. She might be well trained but to me she has no class. I'm a single mother just looking to squeeze in some "me" time in between everything else and instead I get insulted and treated poorly. I do not reccomend her, my advice; if you don't want everyday people coming in your life, "THEN GET OFF GROUPON!" read more
