The construction of Zen windows had a superior quality than the other windows we interviewed. Installation by Marcos and his crew was efficient and professional. Window installation was quick, while making a difficult job look easy. While selecting for a window company can be daunting, we searched through the internet for window ratings and found Provia Endure Windows to be highly rated. Lifetime warranty for the windows and installation also were deciding factors for us. Curb appeal, value, comfort plus improving energy-efficiency and security added value to our house. 38 windows replaced by Zen Windows.

I'm a first-time homebuyer and purchased my house in March 2021. While the house was in great…read morecondition and had recently been renovated, it still had the original wooden windows that were installed when the house was built in the 1950's. While I appreciated their history, classic look and the fact that they were still in good shape, it was clear they needed to be updated. I contacted several window companies around town, both local and national establishments. After being put off by some of the high pressure, in person sales tactics other places had, I found the approach that Brian and his team at Zen Windows very refreshing. I also saw that they were voted Best in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine in 2020, and I wanted to support a local business if I could. Brian was very generous with his time, and it only took a few phone calls with him and a quick visit from his installer to get measurements for them to have all the information they needed. I was impressed with how simple and straightforward the process was. Another huge selling point was that I wouldn't have to pay anything until the job was complete, a big difference from other companies. The turnaround took about three months for the windows to be built, but I would chalk that up to COVID, supply chain issues and increased demand for home projects because of the pandemic rather than anything on Zen's end. Quoted turnaround times at other businesses were similar. Once the windows were ready, Zen sent a simple three man crew to my home to perform the installation. Each gentleman on the crew probably had 30-40 years of window installation themselves, so as a team they were pretty capable. In just two quick morning sessions, my windows were complete! I'm extremely happy with the end result. The windows are fantastic, incredibly easy to use, they look great (black exterior FTW), and I can already tell they perform much better than the old ones. Brian and his team did an outstanding job, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their windows!

I am very sensitive to smoke and the chemicals in scented laundry exhaust, and was being exposed to multiple sources of those fumes coming into a cupola window at the top of a high cathedral roof on an Addition to my house. The window had been stuck open since I moved in over a year ago. I couldn't get any window company to come to assess or fix it, but a general contractor and electrician both tried (one from the outside and one from the inside). Neither of them could get the window to close because of a small non-functional motor (intended to open and close the window) that was preventing it from closing fully. Air, like water, will find a way to get into even a small entry point, so the smoke was coming in, dropping down into the main living area and sickening me. Jack responded to my call later the same day and, recognizing the urgency of addressing the situation ASAP, offered to come to my house within 30 minutes. He was scheduled out for two weeks, so not hungry for work, but squeezed in this health-related job near close of business. It took 3 attempts (one from inside and 2 from outside, on the steep roof) but within 45 minutes he had solved the problem by yanking the window open, removing the motor and sealing the window shut. Hallelujah! Jack has a great personality and was extraordinarily considerate of my special health needs, including the necessity that he wear a Tyvec suit and face mask when he was inside my home. I got no pushback about that at all--just an understanding, cooperative and frankly caring attitude. What a welcome change from some contractors I've dealt with while serving as the general contractor for work on my homes in the past 7 yrs. He's definitely a keeper! I cannot recommend this company more highly! Jack will be my first call to deal with any further issues with windows or doors at my house.

Neither would have fixed the damage caused by their workers. Company will not take responsibility for the damage, instead offers $100 and praises themselves for us receiving free labor and material, since work was completed outside of the contract. It has cost us $2300 so far (not including labor) to replace. With the cost of lumber today, we had to go with a cheaper material. Talking to the relations director is nothing but a joke, all she does is argue and deflects blame on the customer. Totally regret using this company and do not recommend!

After five months awaiting our windows, it became clear he had miscounted the number of windows by two windows. When confronted with this, he denied having counted the windows, claiming I provided the number instead. He further denied calling our front windows "doubles" (counting as one) in a phone call prior to our order and attempted to blame me for ordering the wrong number of windows. He further claimed we did not permit him to measure the upstairs windows. But we received all of the upstairs windows (which were a different size). I later sent him an email showing photos of him from our security cameras specifically counting the missing windows during his estimate visit. We received no reply. I ordered two new windows through another contractor. The second part of the work order (vinyl and aluminum) was communicated to the work team (who did great work but there was a serious language barrier). K Guard communicated an incomplete work order to them which I caught and stopped work on before it went too far. Upon calling K Guard, I was admonished by the receptionist that the frieze board was not included in my contract. I pointed out that it was included on page 1, paragraph 8 and after a second person admonished me to just "let the men do their work", I agreed but told them I would not be paying for uncompleted work. Finally a rep confirmed our read of the contract was correct and the work was completed with an additional week needed to do the work. The work team communicated this was the last job they would do with K Guard. They are not alone...

Brian Laverty with Cenvar Roofing was one of the more detailed roofers with his proposal and he responded very quickly. He was always available for our questions and patient with us as we gained understanding of the magnitude of our job. We hired Brian because of his price but also because of our comfort level with him and the reviews from previous customers who had similar needs as our needs. After the work was scheduled, the crew from Cenvar arrived at the promised time and they worked diligently as a team to correct the issues we had with our current roofs per their proposal. Cenvar honored their estimate for repairs although they encountered unexpected issues which was not surprising for a structure that is 100 years old. I have recommended and will continue to recommend Brian Laverty and Cenvar when given the opportunity for residential and commercial work because of their high quality of work, their high level work ethic, their desire to do their work with "excellence",their high level of professionalism and their excellent follow-up.
