They do decent work but teams don't communicate and require constant supervision. I expect that for simple jobs they are quick and efficient but lord help you if things get even remotely complex.
During one of Atlanta's recent cold snaps, two units in our condo (mine and my neighbors') experienced significant water damage. Our insurance referred us to The Remediation Group who had called in teams from around the country to deal with the demand.
Before I go any further, let me say that the two-star rating has nothing to do with the quality of their work or their professionalism. I expect that if the job had been simpler, maybe with only one unit damaged, we would have had a different experience. However, they are a big company with multiple types of teams and the lack of communication between them caused us some serious issues.
They were able to get out relatively quickly given the demand. They even dispatched one of their principals to oversee our work. However, between the principal's assessment and the team that did the work, there were serious issues. The team ignored us at three different points that the leak had come from a specific place in the kitchen. The result was that in their first remediation pass, they removed all the damage EXCEPT FOR WHERE THE LEAK ACTUALLY OCCURRED.
This caused a week-and-a-half delay in getting water restored to one of the units because they had to find someone that could remove cabinets. It was another two weeks before they came out to take away the dehumidifiers. Not only did this add on to our power bill but for every day the dehumidifiers are on-site, TRG gets to charge our insurance company. Suffice to say, we had to fight them on that and eventually got them out of the units.
It was ANOTHER WEEK before we could get their re-build guy in to finalize their assessment of the damage. However, instead of giving us the quote, as agreed, so we could square up the estimate with the adjuster they were going to require us to sign on with TRG to do the re-build.
At this point, our units had been gutted and unlivable for more than a month. We refused to sign with TRG, called the insurance company about our issues and called in our own contractor to finish the assessment and square up with the insurance company.
I appreciate the work that TRG did but the lack of communication between their teams has set back repairs to our units longer than anyone should expect to go.
Before you agree to go with them, ensure that you have a SINGLE POINT OF CONTACT for everything you do. No matter what happens, each team should take their direction FROM THAT POINT OF CONTACT. If you don't go forward with that, and document EVERYTHING you will end up getting lost in their maze of interconnected teams. read more
