(2 cats, a muffler and tail pipe) on a Toyota fJ. I went down to Magic, by good luck the timing was excellent, he could do the repairs while I waited and for about 175 my exhaust was nicely repaired with sleeves welded in to replace broken joints. I made that call at or after 9 pm to Silver Star's emergency tow line. I was expecting a tow truck dispatcher to answer. Instead, Tom Silver the owner of the business picked up. Even at that time he had a long conversation with me about the vehicle. We made arrangements for me to get it to his shop early the next morning. I met Tom and found him to be a very pleasant man. He mentioned that the vehicle might be deemed a total loss, and that he would try to give me some advice if this were the case. Sure enough, two days later the additional unseen damage identified by Tom led The Hartford to decide to total the Malibu. Even though his meant the body shop wouldn't be making much on my car (maybe some measly short term storage fees) Tom still did some research on similar car listings in he area to help me value the vehicle for my negotiations with the insurer. He typically returned my emails in minutes, which was amazing considering how busy and successful his shop is. Such direct repeated contact with the owner was appreciated. I wish he had been able to do the repairs. From seeing how things operate in the shop I have a very good feeling that my car would have looked as good as when I drove it off the lot over eight years ago.
