First off I needed a dine and go lunch before my trip to the Thornbridge brewery (something had to soak up the beer...) and I got a really tasty smoked salmon white roll for £3.50. The next occasion was a few hours later when I popped in to see if they had any bakewell tarts left that I could buy and take home for dessert that night. They were just literally shutting the doors but the friendly owner let me in and sold me a few slices - at a discount even due to her saying they would have been better eaten that night (I love independent business') I literally didn't have time to hang around and smell the roses but it's a really cool sandwich shop and deli - plus the sandwich and tarts were pretty damn good!

Absolutely brilliant traditional pie and they also claim to be the home of "THE FIRST AND ONLY ORIGINAL BAKEWELL PUDDING". The place is quite small but hosts a great amount of variety each more tempting than the other. It's almost like the food shouting out to you "you gotta try me or you've missed something brilliant". The prices are absolutely reasonable and I got about dinner for 4 of us for under a £10.3 including dessert. They also hoard a bespoke collection of 60 local and British cheeses. Do not forget to try their chocolate fudge cake which almost melts in your mouth. Wish this were closer to Leeds but surely will go there just for the pies.

It's a lovely place tahat is not over priced and makes a change from the likes of Greggs. As we are both vegetarians, this was quite an unpleasant experience. Although we live 20 miles from Bakewell, I made a special journey to return to the shop (with the quiche wrapper) in the hope of an apology or refund/replacement. To my amazement, the owner refused to do either. Apparently if I had returned the remains of the quiche (which I had thrown away, never wanting to see it again) then he would have considered a refund. This matter is now in the hands of the Consumer Protection agency, who are taking it very seriously.

They have a loyalty card which allows a free one after about nine cups - a nice touch, and obviously competing with Nero down the road. The deli counter has a nice selection of food, some unusual stuff - but I do think you pay for it. The olives in particular seem to be very expensive, and I don't really feel they are any more special than from the right supermarket.

They also have a farm shop in which they sell lovely personal goodies, along with other foods from local businesses!

This place really stood out to me amongst the small, quaint shops and boutiques of Knutsford. The outside seating looked very inviting, but it was a little bit cold so we opted to go inside. The inside is small, no more than 8 tables - but I liked it. Warm, cosy and cute. They offer a fantastic little menu consisting of soups, sandwiches, salads and some special seasonal dishes - but we opted for some coffees instead, which were lovely. But this place is more than a cafe, The Cheese Yard also sells artisan cheeses that they buy from cheese makers all over then world, as well as and boutique wines, beers and ciders too. You can order a fantastic range of these cheeses to try with some lovely homemade chutneys and crackers. Alternatively, customers were popping in to buy selections of their favourite cheeses to take home. It really is a lovely place.
