Moving from one state to another is always very difficult - you never know how to find the best of the best where you're headed. I lucked out with Reliable Movers - not only were they responsive and willing to book me from out of state for a move-in to a place with multiple sets of stairs, when they arrived they were helpful, friendly, and even prevented some damage that would have been done because of the way my outgoing movers packed my truck. They took great care with all of my items, got everything to exactly where I asked it to be placed even though I was stuck outside with the truck providing information, and got it all done in record time. The crew that showed up on move-in day were about twenty minutes early, after checking in with me via phone and text. Everyone was helpful and courteous. This was an excellent moving experience and I will be hanging on to Reliable's contact information for my eventual move to another location. The price for unloading into my new home was great, especially given the stairs involved. They were over two hours late. They only had to move about 10 item. Everything they moved got knicks and scratches. After all that they charged $350.00. I am not a fake reviewer. How dare you as an owner try to stop a real review. It was four items not two. If you give a review she doesn't like she will discredit you and drive you nuts. She didn't give me a credit the mover did because I complained about the price being so high for 20 minutes worth of work On top of being late. read more

I had my floors refinished requiring an on-site move. Jen told me to rent a 20'pod (non-refundable $500.00) plus use my garage.They used only my garage with room to spare. When questioned, she constantly yelled that her website states "Moving is not an exact science". With her over 20 yrs experience, this was a costly miscalculation. My Stickley furniture was moved, placed on top of each other using NO COVERS! When I asked for the owner to call me she went ballistic! She said that her workers never call her and that I should be nice to them as they had worked the last 15 days without a break! I am a 67yo woman with MS that uses a wheelchair. My interaction was minimal with the workers as I couldn't be near them physically. When the furniture was returned to my house, my Stickley china cabinet had a gash in the front. When I told Jen, she yelled at me once again, told me I was trouble and slammed the phone down. She did call me back after a bit and told me who their refinishing people were and arranged pick up. It took 5 weeks instead of 10 days. My mistake was not to have it done by Stickley. Although her company did an adequate job, the finish is matte not glossy. The piece is devalued as was altered. Do use Reliable Movers if you want to deal with abusive unprofessional behavior and have no attachment to your personal property. Would've given zero stars if I could. read more

I can't say enough about the Reliable Movers!! They came and gave me a estimate based on what they saw in my house and I had the contract the next day. They gave me a fair estimate and they stuck to the price. No hassles, they showed up on moving day and worked and work. No slackers for sure. Reliable Movers were expensive but worth it. They packed up our two bedroom apartment in Ithaca in about two hours and unloaded everything at our house in Chicago in about two hours. The movers were careful, courteous and friendly. The only slight knock was the dispatch team seemed frazzled and confused as to when the movers were arriving, but the actual movers were great. If you're wondering whether the additional expense is worth it we'd definitely pay the high prices again. read more

"No hidden fees " unless your attorney builds in an overlap and they have to wait three hours to get you in...then they take you to the bank! 400 more than the quote for a 3 hour wait that was known/shared at the estimate but not included in the estimate . The workers were friendly, polite, and efficient, but the company will milk you...And Jen, in response to your commentary, four days prior to the move, EVERY other moving company was booked (I looked, trust me). You had me over a barrel. My options were, pay you or do it myself. Given that I informed you of the gap at the estimate, it should have been included in the price from the beginning 3-4 weeks prior when I still had options. read more

I agree with the previous review saying the dispatch team/management is clueless, but the actual movers are great. I was given a time, they didn't show and i had to call to find out where they were but the message said no one was in the office. They finally called back and gave a new time with no apology, and yet again didn't show or call to give an update. Called them again and was told they would call when they were on their way. Still nothing so called later, and they were almost to the location for pick up which was not my house and that's why I need a notice that they were on their way so I could get there at the right time. Turns out Jen, the manager, poorly planned for drive time from Rochester to Syracuse to Ithaca and didn't account for the driving so they were hours late. She blamed it on a bigger than expected shipment but the movers said she didn't tell them when i was expecting them or else they would have called. They weren't told to call me on the way either. So management is poor and had to plan with, but the movers didn't have to communicate amongst themselves about rotating objects in doorways- they were a solid team thinking alike and familiar with best ways of doing things. We moved from NY to GA, Mike and Jen were fantastic and took real good care of our things. Communication was really good, if we had any questions they answered right away. The loading in NY took about an hour, they had 6 guys that dismantled, wrapped and carried our furniture to the truck. When we arrived to GA, Mike and Jen were there and coordinated the unloading. After my friend moves to Arizona and their household goods being held HOSTAGE, I was real nervous of hiring movers from New York to Florida. I researched movers and got four estimates. Mike and his wife came from Reliable Movers and gave one of the estimates. He quoted me higher than the other three, but their pricing was GUARANTEED not to EXCEED the estimate. They are family owned and offered more service and quality for their price. The others just priced the weight so who knows what the final arrival price would have been. The day of the move went smoothly and the delivery was ahead of schedule. Mike and his crew came with a smiling face and even made a few jokes it made me relax and not be so stressed. Jen in the office was friendly and helpful and very knowledgable with all the questions I kept emailing her on. She kept me informed about my shipment and estimated time arrival which was the exact day and time planned from the month prior. The guys even called me the night prior to let me know they were sleeping in South Carolina for the night. There was noo waiting around for a week to two for my things to show up. Interesting rebuttal from the company- wrought with lies. I didn't forget my checkbook, they left before I did and I had to pick up my dogs and daughter. I got there when I got there and paid them. They never ever mentioned bedrooms go first. Was I overwhelmed? ABSOLUTELY! We had just gotten back at 11pm the night before because my father passed away and I was emptying and moving all of my childhood out of his house on LI. I only had a little of the kitchen and some clothes to do. To say "I was not packed at all" is an outright lie. The entire basement, hallway and living room was packed but they refused to start there because of this "clean space" thing that I never heard of until that day. Also, in my original inquiry I CLEARLY specified that there was furniture that needed to be put together that they would not have been taking apart. I MADE SURE of that because I did not want to be put in the situation that they ultimately left me in anyway. She didn't lie about one thing though, I didn't give her a list of everything because I never wanted to deal with her again. Was I going to give her my sectional couch? or my recliner? Who knows when and if I would ever see them again? Yes, I made the mistake about not receiving the guidelines but I never did sign a contract, they never presented me with anything on that day. Also, she lied about issues with the other movers. I called them and they never told her I was a problem because well frankly- I'm not. I just like to get what I am promised and have this illusion that someone should provide safe, reliable service, especially when its in their name. Take it for what its worth people. They arrived a bit late. But on arrival, the crew was professional and efficient. They disassembled and reassembled stuff. They took care to protect my furniture using plastic wrap. Mats inside the trailer added further protection. Not one scratch. One of the guys went above and beyond by helping me set up my wifi (using some gadget to remove a broken-in Ethernet cable from the socket) and also showing me how to convert my pull out couch into a bed. 3 minutes ago I got a binding agreement and was to be called back "in the next day or two" (that never happened). I called back myself and my binding agreement went up only a mere $2000. I had a very small load going to Florida and they were able to fit me on the truck with another couple heading that way. When I questioned why my estimate went up so much, I was told the couple cancelled. The man and woman should try to keep their stories straight as the exact date that the wife told me the couple was leaving just happened to be the same date the man offered to pick my things up. When I told him that date didn't work for me, he told me he'd call me back. I was in shock when that didn't happen (sarcasm). If you want to be jerked around and lied to then sure give them a call. My experience is the wife is much more honest and she was quite friendly and helpful. I firmly believe she tried her best to help. The guy was a total jerk off and insulted my intelligence. Anyone who knows him personally tells me he's as cheap and shady as they come. I can see they're all correct. It's a no from me. I wish could leave negative stars because I would. The guys a loud mouth wanna be big shot. Just say NO! BAD BUSINESS! I will add that yes I do not use my real name on this email however they know who I am. I love how all their previous poor reviews are "people getting back at them" Coincidentally that's what they accused me of as well. It's laughable. Based on one experience, I would rate the company very well. They recently moved my relatives to Connecticut from the Syracuse area (why would anyone give up all that lovely snow??) and I was there when they arrived and then unpacked. It was an all-day affair, but the three guys were very helpful, careful with the boxes and furniture, and put everything where they were directed. They were courteous, very respectful of the house (walls, floors, etc), and even went beyond what they needed to do. They made a tough move easier than expected. read more

A couple of cousins and I moved an older member of our family who has some difficult medical issues under circumstances that could have been very stressful, but the people at Reliable took all of the stress out of it. They showed up when they said they would, were upfront about everything we needed to know, no hidden fees, jobs, or charges, and they gave us true fixed estimate on the final cost of the move right at the outset. Everything they say on their website is just the way they operated. Most importantly, they did great work. Kevin and Tom were meticulous, careful, fast, efficient, and very considerate of the family member being moved. They treated her like a member of their own family, and it couldn't have gone better for her. Words can't express how grateful the cousins and I are for that. The move went off without a hitch. Perhaps the most surprising thing in all of this is that Reliable also charged the lowest price of the six movers who gave us an estimate. Found this company on Craigs list. They advertised as the cheapest price for moving. I have moved 4 times in the last 8 years and every time I used a mover I was quoted one price and it turned into at least 30 -40% more after the move. Other moving company employees took too many cigarette breaks. Blasted rap music and used profanity, not to mention some of those guys looked like parolees. Mike from Reliable Movers came to my house in a snow storm, gave me a free estimate with a great price. I have used this company four times in the past and had a good experience each time. I only did local moves of no more than 30 miles. My furniture and belongings were packed up, moved into the truck, unloaded and unpacked without damage and workers onsite were very helpful. The only complaint about any of my moves was they weren't on time for the scheduled time but I feel they made up for it by making the packing up and unpacking go quickly. I would use Reliable Moving again in the future. read more

Horrible customer service! I had two large heavy dressers brought from my apartment to my new home. I was at work while my girlfriend was at the house to pay the movers when they were done. i thought maybe she would have inspected the furniture before paying, but i guess i was wrong. she had called me upset that both dressers had been damaged. i then called "Reliable" Movers to tell them what she had told me. I was then told by the owner that there was no way that anything was damaged and in the next sentence was told maybe a corner "might" have been dinged. Then he told me that there was no other way it would have made it up my landing with out it scraping the wall and the ceiling which also were damaged. I told him i would call him when i got home after i could see everything for myself at which point i was hung up on. when i got home to see the damage, the entire front of my tall dresser was dented and the finish was chipped off at one spot The long dresser was chipped to the wood in a back corner.. Now let me just say that these dressers are less than two years old and cost me around $2200. I called him back and was told to text him pictures. I said OK and then was hung up on again. Sent the pics and he claimed "something was up" as if i was lying and then was told to go to walmart and get a wood marker to fill in the chips. That wasn't going to happen. The furniture has a lifetime warranty so i wasn't to worried but i paid $250 to have the dressers moved because i easily could have did the same amount of damage to my dressers themselves but after reading good reviews about this company, i thought they would be a little more careful. I asked for a $75 dollar refund and was told "fine", I gave them my address and was hung up on again, this time by his wife. Three weeks went by still no check. I called back and left a message never rec'd a call back and now I'm writing this. read more

Very pleased with these guys. Before we even moved, they were very accommodating with our ever-changing appointment due to our closing being delayed. I do think they need to work on slowing down on job size estimates - we were initially told a 26 ft truck would fit all of our stuff, but we were very uncomfortable with that and requested the 28ft which was barely enough. But again - once I voiced that concern they addressed it without hesitation and offered to send the 28 ft but only charge us if we used 26. Once our moving day came, they were able to start early which was a nice surprise. There was some miscommunication between the office and crew (they were supposed to be loading from our apartment and off-site storage, delivering to our new house... the crew arrived expecting to load from our apartment and on-site storage and deliver to off-site storage) but were easy going about the mix up and had no problem adjusting their plans. They were FAST but so far we haven't found anything broken. They also were clearly experienced so there was no time wasted trying to fit furniture through doorways, etc - they could tell immediately when a path was too narrow or which way to turn items, etc. Overall I we were psyched that the move went so quickly and so well, and while I hope I don't need to move again for a long time I will not hesitate to call them if we do. read more
