It really is a blast from the past. Walking into 'cheers' and everyone knows your name. We were outsiders, but were greeted with a smile by the sweet lady behind the counter. A couple patrons also said hello. Unsure of where to sit we chose a small table off to the side and browsed the daily specials on the wall. Person after person strolled on in, and the woman behind the counter knew each ones drink order off by heart and already had it ready to go for them. Service like that is definitely something special in today's day and age. Prices are VERY cheap. $4.50 for draft beer, $12 for halibut tacos, $7.75 for a loaded banquet burger. Personally, food was nothing spectacular; At least what we had. I was definitely full and it tasted ok. I do want to come back and give some of their other dishes a try. Especially since they're homemade and many dishes have good reviews. If you're looking for quality service with cheap beer and eats, this definitely place is definitely worth checking out.

I also ordered a large gravy at $3. Somehow the math doesn't add up in the receipt - According to the website picture, there's slaws, but I didn't get any. A friend told me afterward that slaws are separate. Then I think they should exclude the slaw from the pic - No plastic utentils nor condiments were included Maybe this is a case of miscommunication. But for $30, the quality of the cooking should be good at least.

The creamy coselaw was not my cup of tea. It was very mayo-y, which was a bit difficult for me to enjoy. I think it needed a little something citrus to brighten it up. I also was looking forward to my brussel sprouts, which were unfortunately forgotten and I never ended up getting them. By the end, it wasn't on my bill either so I think they just kept forgetting about them. They were definitely available though because someone at our table ordered them to-go. Overall, service was friendly. If you're in the area and looking for some fish and chips to hit the spot, this might be the place for you.

I was happy to see this Toronto landmark re-open under new management, so I write more in sadness than in anger with a mixed review. Based on an overheard conversation with a woman at the next table who may be the owner, the business plan includes heavy marketing and a ghost kitchen to supply delivery apps. My halibut was a huge and delicious portion, perfectly cooked in a light and crispy batter. The price was reasonable and the service was super friendly. But the chip quality was very poor. It was greasy ... and at once overcooked and lukewarm. I strongly suspect the fries were bought frozen. The tartar sauce came in tiny plastic packets. It tasted so bad that I had to scrape it off. Not recommended due to so-so quality and not putting customers first. read more

Coleslaw, tartar sauce, condiments, furniture and ambience could use a facelift... nothing objectionable.. but it would shoot this place into influencer cult status.
