The facility is a 5/5 for sure!!! Just went for the first time and it's gorgeous. Convenient location, and it's so nice to have so many things to do before your treatment! I opted for the salt room which was a cool experience. The lounge is nice as well, music is very peaceful and thoughtful to put out tea and water. The hot tub outside looked well maintained. Locker rooms were such a nice touch. It's clear a lot of thought went into designing a full wellness facility. I would rate my prenatal massage very differently. More like a 3/5 which was surprising to me as I've had 10 prenatal massages total and for $160/60min, that's by far the steepest I've ever paid and walked away with a few new pains in my shoulders and back :( I'm sad about that but again, facility is great. read more

Release definitely lived up to its name because release all my stress I did. First time here and it was amazing. The staff were so welcoming and sweet upon our arrival. Very helpful in making sure we knew where to go and if we needed anything. Spent half the day and were we able to experience the whole center. The amenities were great, salt room, sauna, steam room, hot tub. You are going to be spending money but it is worth what you spend. I never, ever thought I'd step into a cold plunge. But after hearing much raving about it, I finally gave it a try, starting with a sauna session to warm up. I was coached to shut out the noise and focus on my breath. To my surprise, I stayed in for over three minutes. The exhilaration afterward was incredible, only surpassed by the sensation when re-entering the sauna as warmth and circulation flooded back in. It's invigorating, deeply calming, and oddly addictive. Release Well-Being Center is a premier destination for contrast therapy. I've not found anything that comes close to this experience. Known as BLISS, their expertly curated sauna and cold plunge experience lives up to its name. The space is stunning, the amenities are immaculate, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed and that you are in for an elevated experience. The changing rooms are beautifully appointed (think high-end resort), and your locker is stocked with the most delicious robe, towel, and a pair of sandals. The staff does an exceptional job of keeping every space spotless, from the showers to the changing areas, and the beauty area, which boasts high-end hair products and styling tools, as well as any items you may have forgotten, such as hair ties, brushes, sanitary products, and razors. The heart of the experience lies in the relaxation lounge, a true sanctuary featuring two infrared saunas, a traditional sauna, and two pristine cold plunges (at temperatures of approximately 44° and 54°). The sauna relaxes and detoxifies. It's hot, yes, but deeply calming, evoking memories of back when it was okay to bake in the sun at the beach. The cold plunge is undeniably cold, but not painful; it stings and serves as a bracing wake-up call to both the body and mind. Had a really great massage this past weekend. It was my first visit to Release. I'd heard great things and was excited. The reception staff were so warm and courteous, both on the phone when I called to make my appointment, and in person. They gave me a tour and made me feel really comfortable. The locker rooms are nice and well-appointed. My massage therapist, Lillya was excellent. The only constructive criticism I would offer is in regard to Bliss. The relaxation areas are all co-ed, which is unusual in my experience, but I knew that to be the case ahead of time (thanks to the lovely reception staff). On the day of my visit, there were a LOT of couples hanging out in there (maybe because we're leading up to Valentine's Day? I don't know...) and the men especially didn't seem to understand the typical expected etiquette. There was a lot of loud talking, throat clearing, people leaving sweat marks on the benches in the sauna instead of sitting on a towel. I had a hard time relaxing in that environment and really wished it were a women only area like I've experienced at other day spas. Knowing that it isn't, I probably would not return again on another busy weekend afternoon - but definitely would at a slower time on a weekday. read more

I've been to Release over a dozen times in the past several years. I've referred and brought several groups of friends as well. I have a gift card remaining and won't be returning. It is NOT the same as it was years ago. Cold welcome, dirty cups everywhere, no towels, loud (not relaxing at all) but to top it off I was laying down for my massage and the first 10 mins were being sold an upgrade. I finally caved and said yes because otherwise their new basic massage is hardly touching you. The rest of my massage I was so annoyed. We were a group of 4 ladies and it happened to 2 of us. I asked to speak to a manager on our way out and 2 ladies behind desk were like it's your lucky day we are both managers. I explained what happened. They did nothing. So you are going to let 2 of us leave unhappy out of a group (and you can probably see in my profile how many times I've visited) - awful customer service. She explained they have recently changed their massage. Ok so no one wanted to mention that when I spoke to someone to make the appointment or when we checked in?? I was at another spa this weekend and started speaking with a stranger and she had a similar experience. I have been having spa treatments for at least 20 years on a monthly basis and and decided to try release center for a hydra facial, The greeting I received was so unwelcoming and cold. How's about how are you, small talk a little the greeting consisted of "we don't have any paper signed from you yet from the computer." I understand facials are to be relaxing and the mimi hydra facial was good, but staff was not engaging at all in any conversation . Upon leaving at the desk, I asked for change from a 100.00 bill and I was told that a 20% gratuity was usually left for services. We did the 1/2 day package with massage and facial and you got access to all the amenities including steam room, sauna, salt room, locker room, relax area and hot tub. For $265, I though it was a great deal and the services were lovely! I am giving it 4/5 for a few reasons 1. I had to walk outside in my bathrobe to go to my facial, it wasn't warm and also awkward because I was just in a bathrobe, they did not warn me before I changed. Then I had to walk back outside to go back to my massage. 2. You have to pre-pay when you book, not just give a credit card but they charge the full amount. It's fine but just odd. 3. The amenities are shared between men and women, also fine but something I wasn't expecting. I probably would go back but just a heads up there were a couple of odd things. read more

This place is incredibly relaxing and so worth it! You do not want to miss the Bliss Spa area when you come - it is very relaxing. I booked a team outing here and all of the staff were easy to work with and very knowledgeable. The Bliss area has chairs to sit and relax and read a book in-between services, a Himalayan salt room, sauna, outdoor hot tub, tea/coffee/spa water and fruit. The Bliss area is self-serve and they do not provide any guidance for it which can be nice but for your first time there it would be nice to get a little more guidance. The cafe is very small but offers some fun smoothies and healthy options for snacks and food. The room for the facial was very relaxing and the woman doing the facial was very nice - the only thing I wished was that the woman doing my massage would've explained more and did a little more. (it basically felt like she just washed my face...) I did not have that facial glow after I left which I was a little disappointed about. The only cons I would say are that the two buildings are not connected and it is very chilly in the winter running from one building to the other in your robe!!! and that the Yoga room they used for us was incredibly small and the music from the class downstairs really disturbed being able to be mindful and relax. read more

my wife and daughter went to enjoy bliss for 1 hour and a smoothie. The price ended up with bumpkis. my wife is a member, my daughter is not. My daughter was charged $95 for a half day bliss, but was only there for 1 hour plus a $12 smoothie that was supposed to be included in my wife's membership. when my daughter asked to speak to the manager she was no where to be found. they also would not honor my daughters student discount even though she has showed them her student ID card in the past and even showed them a tuition statement. all in all, my daughter walked out of there having to pay $107 not having received any special service, and only being there for 1 hour in total. read more

I have come here twice once for a bachelorette party and once for my honeymoon. The bachelorette was good. My massage was okay and my facial was incredible. My husband and I came back this week as a nice little honeymoon treat. Unfortunately it did not go as planned. We waited 30 mins in the bliss room area to then be told our massage therapist had a family emergency and we couldn't get duo 90 min massages. Ok originally that sucked- after a stressful wedding all we wanted was to be together and relax. They offered us (aka me cause my husband would never get a facial) a facial. I said it defeated the purpose of being together I could have gone to massage envy for half the cost for separate massages. They then offered to let us stay to use the Bliss room and have a smoothie. I had to ask twice if it made sense for us to do this because I know from being here before that everything is scheduled down to the minute. Luckily we got into the Bliss area services. What bothered us the most was when my husband went to the bathroom and heard the staff at the front desk saying that they could not find the girl for our massage and that they told us it was a family emergency. I hate lying I am a very upfront honest person and I wish that they had just told us that from the beginning. It felt sketchy. When we went to check out they informed us that it would be fully comped and that if we wanted to reschedule for another day we could. I explained to them that I start grad school (that night) and that my weekends are very busy with papers and because of the wedding I don't think we would be able to takeoff more days of work and that I would call back to reschedule once I get my syllabus. A few days go by and we see on our bank statements that we were charged for the bliss rooms and the smoothies. I called the front desk and they told me that they could not get a manager Director or owner. I called back an hour later asking to speak to the same people and they told me to hang up and press two. I spoke to Linda T who was very kind and informed me that the staff member was terminated And that they took what happen very seriously and that that has never happened before. To be completely honest I really didn't care about that I was more frustrated with the lying and then the particular charge. I told her I hope my massage therapist was OK and that I would appreciate the full amount back. She wrote us a check and I was able to come physically pick it up on my way home from work. She offered us 20% off our next time there. I want to give this establishment another try and I want my husband to have a nice experience because I did talk highly about it the first time. read more

My best friend, Melanie recently started working at Release Spa. I had heard so many amazing things about it from her and our circle of friends. It sounded like it had ME written all over it. They have various different fitness facilities, a spa that offers incredible amenities such as Himalayan salt rooms, an outdoor hot tub, eucalyptus steam room, dry sauna, and more. Of course it also offers services as well as a café with incredibly healthy options. Release Spa is situated in Westborough, Massachusetts and is a truly beautiful retreat for relaxation and meditation especially if you are exercising the full, mind, body, soul experience. I live in California but I was home for the holidays and Melanie recommended I come visit her spa. Her shift ended at 2 PM so I got there around that time so that we could both enjoy the spa. She treated me to a facial with Renee. Renee is absolutely incredible. I had the most amazing facial. It had been a long time since I had gotten one and because of all of my recent travel my face was experiencing a lot of breakouts, so the facial couldn't have come at a better time. She really took her time, worked with me on my problem areas, and didn't talk to me too much as she realized I wanted to relax and sink into the tranquility of it all. The facial lasted about 50 minutes. It also included a complimentary foot soak 15 minutes prior to the service. They will ask you when you make your appointment if you would like to opt in or out of this. It was very relaxing. When you check in, you are given a robe, sandals, and a key to your locker. There is complimentary parking outside in the lot. Melanie and I shared a delicious chicken salad after my facial and then we headed into the spa area to enjoy all of the amenities. The eucalyptus steam room was incredible, we tried out the sauna, and the Himalayan salt room. Melanie explained to me exactly why the Himalayan salt room was invented and the extreme benefits one can receive from this. I had no idea! She also showed me several different fitness areas offering aerial yoga, spin classes, and body sculpting. I enjoyed this experience so much, the only problem is that I live in California! Aside from Melanie and Renee, I also met a few other massage therapists, their HR girl, and one of their marketing team members. All of the employees raved about their boss who opened up Release and runs everything. It was great to see a female run company who treats their employees so well. Everyone was so sweet to me and you can tell that working there made them all feel very relaxed and at home/at peace. I felt so incredibly relaxed and had a true, transcendental mind, body, and soul experience. Thank you so much, Release Spa! If I lived here I would totally get a membership (they also have membership packages for college students who are on break-genius) but since I don't, I can't wait until the next time I'm in Massachusetts so I can return! read more

5 stars for the services!! Really, they're great. 2 for the "DIY" atmosphere and overall spa-like feeling that I didn't get. Overall, 3 stars, which is to say this spa is "OK" The good: my Signature Massage by Junny and my facial by Sarah were amazing. Really and truly. I've been to so many spas and have had a lot of wonderful treatments, and hands-down those were great services that rival (and maybe even exceed) experiences I've had at some of the best spas. I was able to relax and even drifted to sleep a few times. Junny snuck in some reflexology, which was unexpectedly divine. She also gently massaged my recently-wounded hand and gave me tips on how to help it heal faster. Sarah's extractions weren't menacing and her touch was the right balance of light fingers and pressure to enhance the cleansing and massaging that my face needed. She even let me sleep for an additional 10 minutes past my 60-minute facial time, which is unheard of at a spa with a lot of clientele (it helped that I had a late afternoon appointment). So for those services, I was very grateful for the experience of Release. For the price, it's worth it, and Junny and Sarah are worth every penny. It's also clean and well-run. The locker rooms are organized, and the staff is very sweet and helpful overall. The ladies locker room amenities are what you'd expect from a high-end spa. Treatment rooms are equipped with white-noise machines to drown out the drone of Rt 9 that runs in their front yard and also equipped with soothing spa music at the right decibel level needed to eliminate the cacophony of the hallway and relaxation area where well-meaning but noisy patrons tend to congregate and socialize. The technicians all wore soft-soled shoes and didn't talk too much (I noticed and appreciated both things). The menu in the cafe, while appropriately small in offerings, was highly imaginative and lovely. The fresh smoothie was a nice touch. These are highly trained professionals working here. You'll be very relaxed when you leave. I certainly was. The not-so-good: the spa amenities and spaces (the salt room, the hot tub, the relaxation area, etc) feel a bit "DIY" to me. For the record, I'm unfairly comparing this spa against some of the best spas in the country (see La Costa in Carlsbad, CA, The Fountainbleu in Miami, FL, the Aria Spa in Vegas, The Hershey Hotel Spa, or even Mirbeau in my current hometown of Plymouth, MA). Being in Westborough, it's not lost on me that this spa cannot compete with those other spas. My specific complaints: 1) The cafe (and a few treatment rooms, including where my facial was located) are in a separate building that is accessible by leaving the main building and walking a few short steps, uncovered, OUTSIDE in your robe and flip flops. This is crazy in the 20-degree weather of New England in winter, even on a nice winter day. I can't imagine it during inclement weather. At a minimum, a cover should be installed over the walkway from the spa building to the cafe building to protect patrons against the elements. 2) The cafe itself is not relaxing. The space is too small and crowded. People drop by from neighboring businesses to pick up their lunch while mingling in a tiny space with spa guests sauntering around in bathrobes and the open kitchen where the food is prepared. Perhaps a separate area for non-spa guests to order and pick-up their food needs to be arranged. 3) I found the reclining camping chairs in the salt room to be an unpleasant surprise (4 of them jammed in - there should only really be 3, max), along with the mechanical noise (not pleasant) of the salt machine whirring every 30 seconds to blast out powdered salt, covering the nearest chair (and patron!) to the machine in a dusty white saline blanket. Both Aria Spa and The Fountainbleu have salt rooms and neither of those blasted powdered salt at patrons. In fact, I question the health benefit to the patrons of inhaling powdered salt in such a small enclosed space. 4) The outdoor hot tub was really small compared to the number of people who could fit in the relaxation area, and wasn't very visually appealing - it's just a square in the ground (granted, it's winter so maybe I missed some greenery during the summertime). 5) Lastly, the relaxation area - where they've decided to use outdoor patio furniture indoors - felt unsophisticated when it could have been designed to be a bit more polished and well, spa-like. Bottom line, I think for the area, the services are top-notch. But I also think that this spa is trying to cover too many bases of trying to be a "wellness center" in a very tiny physical footprint. If you're in need of good services (massage, facial, etc) by highly trained, competent staff, then you will be pleased. If you're going for the whole "spa experience" then you're likely to be let down, especially if you've experienced high-end spas with professionally designed amenities and spaces. read more

Apparently, I caught the staff on a bad day because I am reading so many positive reviews regarding the positive attitude of the staff and the "incredible" service they afford their guests. I experienced the opposite situation. My experience was staff with a condescending and even hostile attitude. They did not facilitate an atmosphere of relaxation and serenity. The food was sub par and the facilities, other than the steam room were mediocre at best. In my opinion one of the biggest problems was the number of people that were crammed into the facility. That level of crowdedness does not allow for an atmosphere of peace and calm. Not only will I not return to Release, I will not recommend this place to my friends. I've had many facials and spent a lot of time at spas. Release is an "ok" experience. The facility is big and pretty nice but at the same time, a bit strange. It's the loudest spa I've ever been in, not much relaxing happening and at the end of the day the locker rooms and showers are "tired" with hair everywhere! The idea of what they are trying to convey is great, the delivery is a bit lackluster. I've had a few facials there and I couldn't understand why they moved the location of the facial rooms from a very quiet and comfortable spot to rooms over spinning studio! I want my facial to be a relaxing experience. Listening to people downstairs yelling and the sound of loud music banging is not relaxing. And these new rooms do not seem to have sinks. How sanitary can it be to be porting water from the public restrooms to the treatment rooms? The logic on this change totally escapes me. In addition I just learned that their best esthetician, Jackie, is no longer on staff. I will find out where Jackie went and make my appointments where she is providing services. She's fantastic and will be worth tracking down. read more

I enjoyed the yoga schedule at Release so I invested in a class card. 10 classes for $200. I also bought & paid for serum online which I intended to pick up next time I was in. I used most of the card until my Dad fell ill and I was unable to take class, spending all my free time at the hospital with him. After his death, I call to see if I could extend the expiration of my class card and I was told NO. I tried to explain that I had a family emergency and again was told "we don't do that". I asked if they would make an exception and that I only had 4 classes left. Guess they need that $100 pretty badly since they would not extend the expiration date saying "If they did it for one they would have to doit for all". I asked if I could speak to some one else in charge. She took down my name and number and said the owner would call. The owner never called. I sent in the receipt for the serum I paid for online and asked her to mail it to me since I was not going to be coming in. Never got it. I highly recommend Release Well Being Center. We had a Sunday girls spa day recently. First I found it both rare and amazing that a spa was open on a Sunday. Such practice is not the norm for this industry. I received the signature facial and my friend a one hour massage. Both of our technicians were extremely knowledgeable outlining product recommendations and follow up suggestions. The bliss staff was friendly and extremely attentive to our needs. My fiancé went for couples massages today. This place is like a hidden treasure! It is absolutely pristine. I had Ron as my masseuse. I've had many, many massages but Ron was just the best! Seemed to know exactly where my trouble spots were. It was relaxing, yet therapeutic and I felt like Ron really loves what he does and cares about his clients. It wasn't just rote or like he was just trying to get through the 50 mins. I highly recommend him. Although we didn't have time to take advantage of the multiple amenities, I will definitely be back. I love going to Release! The physical space is so beautiful and well maintained, making me feel peaceful just by walking in. The staff is very welcoming, kind, professional and upbeat.
