Best yoga in the area by far, excellent instructors and great sense of community at the studio

I just started the beginner series and so far it's great! I have a pretty sedentary desk job and find it hard to break away. Couple that with bad habits formed around COVID and change was in the air. Also my wife is a Yogi and she wouldn't stop telling me how good it makes you feel. So I gave in and I'm happy to report that she's not wrong. Never is, actually. Our instructor for this series is Anne. She's thorough, explains everything and is super compassionate about each persons ability. 6 stars. read more

One of the nicest yoga studios I have been to. I visited both locations (Westboro and Worcester) and both were modern and clean. The instructors went at a good pace, and were informative and supportive. I signed up for the 2 weeks for $25 and it was well worth it. My only gripe is I forgot my mat once and they charge a $2 mat rental. You will feel amazingggg when you leave! read more

Here is a studio that you can go to straight from work, I just bring my yoga cloths and mat, the facilities are excellent, 2 showers and a changing area. Oh the yoga is great, I've left there feeling amazing! Writing this review makes me want to go there now, I did my teacher certification there and it was excellent, changed my life more than many other things I've tried. Mental-physical-spiritual this place yolks lol the 3 together. I'll definitely go back, I've been to Westborough & Worcester studio, should call them sanctuaries. read more

For those of us who work or live in the suburbs, and still strive a city life style, this is best yoga studio in the central west area. Shawn, the studio owner, is a magnificent instructor. The studio offers mainly heated Vinyasa and a couple other none heated class. While the variety of class is not as broad as some of the Boston studio, you'll be surprise to find that you won't have to breath on the next person while you are practicing. You'll also get extract attention with a small class. The studio has made some great improvement since its start and is continue provide excellence classes. They also offer workshops occasionally and Shawn always try accommodate classes of the practitioner's interest in you talk with her. read more

This review is all about the workshops at Metrowest Yoga--which are fabulous! Shawn brings in well-known, dynamic teachers from the Boston area to hold workshops and master classes, and has also hosted some teachers known nationally and internationally, too. Shawn, the owner, teaches a beautiful class (I've taken her classes at other studios, before she opened up her own space), and every time I've heard her introduce and welcome her guest instructors for the workshops, she has a very humble way about her. So much of what yoga is all about is that we are all first and foremost students. No matter who you are--a studio owner, experienced teacher, or a brand-new student--Shawn really believes that there is always something for each person to learn. I love that. If you're not familar with the area, this studio can be a bit hard to find. Even with Mapquest directions--and a friend in the passenger seat--I've managed to get lost. On multiple occasions. (But once you get there, there's plenty of free parking!) It's a bit of a hike from Boston, but well worth checking out--especially for the fabulous workshops. read more

Metrowest Yoga is amazing! I had always wanted to take a yoga class, but was intimidated by the class descriptions and being a beginner. I jumped at the opportunity to take a 6 week beginner class at Metrowest yoga! Anne is an amazing teacher and walks you through each pose slowly and carefully so you know how each one should I feel. After the 6 weeks were up, I continue to go to Anne's class. Love the atmosphere, everyone is so nice. Yoga has totally improved my life, and I'm grateful for Metrowest Yoga allowed me to make that jump. They have a variety of classes too.. something for everyone. HIghly recommend! read more

So happy to have found Metrowest yoga! After moving out of the city a few years ago where I had been introduced to power vinyasa yoga, I was thrilled to find a wonderful, welcoming studio close to my new home! Shawn has not only created a calm, beautiful studio but also a friendly community. It is a pleasure to practice here! The space is clean. There is a comfortable waiting area with a moderate selection of yoga attire and accessories. Check in is a breeze with the card system. Always the option of purchasing a water bottle for those days you rush over straight from work! The studio is of good size, allowing for a comfortable practice, with cozy, warm decor. Parking is ample! I have enjoyed continuing my vinyasa practice in class with both Shawn and Tom. There is a comfortable atmosphere, a balance of intensity and lightness that allows you to grow in both physical and mental practice. I have also enjoyed my first experience with restorative yoga, with Sarah. It is a much welcomed addition to my yoga practice, especially after stressful and strenuous days. I look forward to the growth of the studio and attending workshops in the future as my schedule allows! Perhaps even one of the amazing overseas retreats that Shawn has developed; they look and sound amazing!! read more

Metrowest has great teachers, which is why I've stuck with them for as long as I have. However, the management is terrible. They recently raised prices for everyone while simultaneously reducing accommodations. The bathrooms barely work and loyal customers are expected to pay extra for no added benefit. On top of that, we are paying for another studio in a dilapidated building that nobody attends. The people in charge have no customer-service skills and are often rude via email. read more

Went to restorative yoga (no heat) tonight for the first time. It was great! Very different from hot flow - room is not just room temperature but even had the windows open. You stay in poses for a very long time during this 75 minute class. Tonight was the first time ever that my hips "let go" during the dreaded half pigeon. The instructor shapes the calming mood with her quiet soothing voice. She came around and helped me relax into the pose a couple of times - she was gentle and very helpful as I tried new poses. I've been to many different studios and tried different types of yoga: restorative will be a great addition to my mix of jogging, bikram and hatha yogas. Thank you MY yoga! read more

I've had great yoga experiences here, and not so great. Shawn always delivers. Tom was kind of rude. But I was very disappointed that when I went in to redeem a groupon they told me that not only could they not honor it (I had been there many years ago and it was rigidly for first time customers), but they also refused to honor it for it's cash value (58 dollars) So basically unless groupon refunds me, I'm out $58 bucks. The sad part is, if they had honored the groupon promise of taking it for it's face value towards a 3 day pass, I'd have paid up the extra and accepted that they couldn't break the rules of letting me use the groupon as originally planned.. Tried to take a yoga class two separate occasions here but because they were burning so much pungent incense (which was subsequently wafting through the whole facility via the open window in the studio) that it made me physically ill and I had to abandon my practice half way through. Who ever heard of such a thing as burning pungent incense in a yoga studio, when half the benefit of yoga is the deep energizing and/or calming breaths that you're supposed to take during your practice (which is nearly impossible given the stench of incense in the air). I even tried to call the studio in advance, and ask them not to burn incense that particular day - I got voicemail. Very disappointed. read more

Very poor customer service. Moved out of town last summer and was unable to use the remaining classes on my pass (that I spent over $100 on) until recently. Now, they say they won't honor the classes that I paid for because it's been too long. Way to lose members and make customers feel unappreciated. The classes are overpriced and overcrowded. You can barely hear the instructor's voice unless she is standing right next to you. The walls are very thin and the receptionists like to have loud conversations in the hallway. Save your money and buy a Groupon for another studio - at least the money you spend never expires. read more

never in my life have i sweated so profusely! and trust me, i have quite a few decades under my leggings. twas my first experience with hot yoga, but due to my sheer desperation to escape the coffin that is my parents' abode on my latest visit, i yelped out yoga studios (thanks, yelp!), and metrowest was relatively close and had a slow flow class at just the right time. for $15, plus a $2 mat rental, i was able to partake of aforementioned slow flow class, and it was truly worth each one of those hard earned dollars. normally i have a distinct distaste for sweating, probably because i associate it with cardio or there's some slow build up of it, but the sweat came on so immediately (i was literally dripping wee and then not so wee droplets onto my rented mat), and my clothing was so thoroughly saturated, my hair such a wet mess, that amusement was my only refuge. as for the class itself, it was great. i really wouldn't classify it as a slow flow, since it felt pretty damn fast to me, but then i've only been taking classes for a year, so who knows. it was also the largest class i've ever taken, since my typical yoga studio is super tiny. the teacher--jen--walked around, adjusting people as necessary, and she was personable, and i felt kinda exhilerated once class was over. wet and rather salty, tis true, but v. happy about it! read more

I've moved out of the area and can't seem to find a yoga studio that beats Metrowest Yoga. This studio offers so many options and the instructors are fantastic. The assists are helpful in making sure you get the most out of poses and do them correctly. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone. If you are traveling into the area just stop by for a slow flow class and you won't be disappointed. read more

I have been attending Metrowest Yoga for a month now and been practicing yoga since 2004 (regularly since 2011). Although this studio might not compare to the first one I ever practiced in (which may just be because it was my "first yoga love") it is still top-notch in terms of the quality control of the instructors, the cleanliness, and the attention paid to articulation: this includes class instruction, how well the staff answers your questions, and impeccable communication overall. I feel sorry for the woman who, on her third class, felt leaving defeated. I would advise her to speak to someone and ask about a class or instructor that could help integrate her into classes. I doubt any of the staff would want to know someone left their class feeling that way. Also, towels on your mats are not required, but you can see almost everyone else using them. If one didn't understand why other people had towels, one could ask what they are for and see if one is right for them. I don't even use the mat towels; I just bring or use one to wipe my excessive head sweat off so it doesn't drip into my eyes and blind me :) If you're concerned about the heat (which I was) I would say that although I personally don't care for teaching yoga in heated rooms, practicing in the heat has helped me open up parts of my body that refused to budge for years. Also, some class are more heated than others. I find the Westborough location to feel hotter than the Worcester location; that is likely due to the room being smaller in Westborough. Or, maybe it's just all in my head! In other words - give it a try. Try the hot, mild, and no heat classes if you can. Really use the two week special to explore and find a temperature and teacher you can resonate with. The one thing that I find somewhat odd is that the owner is the only teacher to welcome the class while seeking out new people, introducing herself, and asking about injuries or physical limitations. As a yoga teacher myself, that is usually the FIRST question I ask before beginning class. I wish the other instructors would take the time to add that tiny bit of precaution and warmth to their classes. I will give props to Cote who, in the only class I took with him, introduced himself to the newbies in class and gave them a little extra attention here and there, but not so much that it detracted from his instruction (that is a tough balance to strike)! If I were to pick instructors that I feel are the best (although I can tell EVERY instructor I have learned from is well-trained and articulate) I would say the owner, Shawn, is my favorite. I also highly recommend Cindy, Brittany, Mary-Anne, and Cote. Oh, and Theresa does a very informative workshop and a class that I just cannot attend due to my own teaching schedule but would definitely attend regularly if I could. But try every instructor you can, and remember to breathe :) There is a good community here. For the first time in years, I feel excited to go to a yoga studio and take class (I've had nothing but an in-home practice for three years). Give it a try! Stay open and in turn, be open about your concerns. They really do care. read more

I'm very surprised to see negative reviews for this studio. I practiced here regularly for one year before moving to Boston and I loved it. I was just starting out and I found there to be a good mix of beginner's classes and more challenging classes. After practicing yoga for a few years now, I have seen many studios and can say that this is one of the cleanest, most beautiful studios I've ever practiced in. It is so warm and inviting. Tom was my absolute favorite yoga instructor here, but unfortunately he moved. I enjoyed all of the classes I took here, however, and found all the instructors to be sweet and helpful. read more

My first yoga class was here almost a year ago. I tried the 30 day trial and there has been no looking back. Pam E, Pam M, Heather, or Meng have a way of easing you in effortlessly. Shawn and Anne add dimensions to your practice that keep you coming for more. Cote is a little bit of both worlds...my first instructor. He has a way of strengthening your practice and actually makes you 'feel' the pose that will have you hopelessly hooked. Don't think again if you are considering yoga or looking for a studio. This is absolutely the best yoga studio in the Worcester area bar none. Shawn, Vin, Anne, Marianne and Ray are amazing, and I don't really know the others so well, but assume they are similarly great. MYoga will give you not just a great heated yoga class, but a mental rejuvenation that you won't get anywhere else. These classes keep me healthy, cured my back pain, and help me cope with daily life outside the studio as well. Best money I ever spent. I have been regularly attending classes here for the past year or so (mainly at the Westborough studio), but have been disappointed recently. The classes recently have been REALLY boring. Initially all my classes, with a variety of the instructors, were dynamic and really kept my interest. For the past two months or so though it has just been the same thing over and over. They haven't actually taught any new skills - just prompted poses, and it's literally the same every single class. Not satisfying or fun. I generally take classes in the evening, and there have been some changes to the instructor schedule, so it seems like now if you want to come after work, no matter which day you come, you're likely to get the same instructor and the same boring class. Personally I'd like to be able to progress and learn new things. Not only are the regular Flow classes not doing it, but they also don't seem to have any good workshops designed to help those at the intermediate level learn new skills or poses...so if that's what you're looking for, you won't find it here. On top of that, one of the best things about this place is that they have assistants working along with the instructors to help guide and support the students - they even mention this on their website. But in the last several weeks there has been not one assistant in any of the classes I have taken. read more

Metrowest yoga is a place of acceptance and peace. I have slowly gotten into a groove over the past 3-4 years. Miraculously, I can now do wheel as a 50+ year old which I never thought I would be able to do. I find all the teachers to be amazing, in particular, Shawn, Cote, Pam, Pam, Michael and Nicole. I feel blessed to have found this studio and try to make it 3 times a week. This is a no-judgement zone and you are encouraged to listen to your body and rest when you need to and challenge yourself when you are able. This is a place of positive energy and health that encourages students to ask questions. Best yoga studio. I have been to other studios, but this one is just the best. read more

Unimpressed. Never been to a studio where you are forced to put the mats literally 2 inches from the persons on either side of you. Trying to make as much $ as possible by jamming as many people in the room as they can. Interfered with the class and concentration, worrying about constantly touching/hitting/bothering those around you. We will not be back, ugh. read more

Passes purchased should not expire 6 months after bought. This seems unethical and borderline illegal. After rushing around to make it to a class, I was turned away at the desk. This does not seem very Yogi like to me. On top of that, I reached out and was told owner was on a retreat, and never heard back. I paid for classes, I should get classes. Otherwise moneys should have been refunded. Not sure this is the kind of studio for me. read more
