The Relais was recommended to us by our landlords, so we decided to give it a try.
We've been back a few times since and have never been disappointed.
The Relais really deserves the title of brasserie. The quality of the food is above average and goes beyond the (boring) standard brasserie menu. The service here is at worst professional. On a good day you may have a pleasant surprise. The kitchen will serve the Belgian version of mainly French cuisine (like vol-au-vent, entrecôte, fish), spiced with the local usual suspects (waterzooi and ballekes) and some worthwhile Asian alternatives. The quality is constant. Also, here you will not be punished for choosing the budget wines - a relief to the casual diner, I would say.
What we like about the Relais is that it's spacious. It's never so crowded as to lose a certain intimacy. It also has a nice wooden floor terrace, which can be a bit too hot in summer, depending on your preference of course.
However, all this does come at a respectable price. The Relais is certainly not a budget place. That said, it's money well spent. read more
