When we saw the menu, we were shocked -- everything was SO DAMN CHEAP. The menu, which was very extensive (burgers, sandwiches, typical pub food, etc) had many items under or around $10, and drinks (wine, beer, cocktails) were equally as inexpensive.
We were stuffed from our amazing lunch at Pancho y Emiliano, so we only had drinks -- beer for him and wine for me. While the wine wasn't amazing, it was perfectly drinkable, and at $6 or $7 for a 9oz (I don't quite recall the price, but it was very cheap), I wasn't complaining.
Even though we didn't have anything to eat and only stopped in for a couple of drinks, we were impressed with how inexpensive everything was -- a rare find. We would have liked to have gone back again, but unfortunately, our itinerary on our much-too-short trip to Toronto didn't allow for another visit. However, when my flight from Toronto to Louisville, via Chicago, was cancelled due to bad weather in Chicago and I had to spend an extra night in Toronto (my husband had flown back to Vancouver), I decided to make the most of a bad situation and I went back to The Last Temptation to have cheap food and get drunk. Because it was pouring rain in Toronto, the place was fairly empty, so I was just able to chill and hang out, drinking and reading my Louisville guide book at my leisure.
I ordered nachos and a half liter of wine, and even with the "extravagant" $3 charge for the chicken add-on to the nachos, the bill was under $30, before tip. The nachos were loaded (no skimping on cheese and toppings despite only being $8.25, before the $3 add-on), and I couldn't even finish them -- they were very substantial, and pretty tasty too -- low price does't always mean poor quality.
The Last Temptation is a typical dive bar -- basic pub food and nothing much to look at, but the low prices make it four stars in my books. While it sucked that my flight was cancelled, I'm glad that I had the opportunity to go back, and next time my husband I are in Toronto, we will definitely stop in.
